The purpose of this study is to explore the mediating role of the perception of social responsibility, and organizational identification, in the relationship between responsible leadership and organizational citizenship behavior in the hospitality industry. A questionnaire was answered by 214 frontline employees of four and five-star hotels, in the north of Portugal. Results indicate that there is a mediation model, which uses the effect of the perception of social responsibility and organizational identification in the relationship between responsible leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors. This study is a first attempt to propose a parallel multiple mediator model that explores the effect of hotel frontline employees’ perceptions of the importance of social responsibility, as well as the effect of employees’ identification with the organization, both of which act as mediators in the relationship between responsible leadership and OCB in the hospitality industry.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the mediating effect of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in the relationship between transformational leadership (TLS) and corporate social responsibility practices (CSR). Another objective was to present adequate properties regarding the reliability of the scores, and evidence of the validity of the internal structure of the measurement instrument. Structure equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data, which was randomly collected from 392 participants from the universities of Jordan. The overall assessment of the model was accepted and TLS was found to indirectly and significantly impact CSR practices through OCB, where the direct effect was significant, though lower than the indirect impact. This means that TLS is a good predictor of CSR practices, especially with the mediation of OCB. One of the implications of this finding is that leaders should promote OCB among their employees, as this will be reflected in their CSR practices, which is one of the requirements of sustainability. The originality of this research lies in it being the first to explore the indirect effect of TLS on CSR practices through OCB.

Although organizational citizenship behavior for the environment (OCBE) literature has highlighted the critical role of leadership on the emergence of OCBE, there is still room for further research exploration of how and when leaders influence subordinates’ OCBE. According to social identity theory, we propose a theoretical model that responsible leadership promotes subordinates’ OCBE by examining subordinates’ moral identity as a mediator and individualism as a boundary condition. Using a sample of 273 collected in China, results indicated that responsible leadership was positively related to subordinates’ moral identity, which in turn was positively related to subordinates’ OCBE. Subordinates’ moral identity partially mediated the relationship between responsible leadership and their OCBE. In addition, both the relationship between responsible leadership and subordinates’ moral identity and the indirect relationship between responsible leadership and subordinates’ OCBE were stronger when individualism was lower. These findings provide novel insights into how responsible leadership influences OCBE and how such influence is shaped by subordinates’ individualism.

In this study, we explored the relationship among mentoring functions (MFs), direct supervisor need for achievement (DSNFA), and employee organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) from the perspective of conservation of resources (COR) theory. A sample of 242 dyads was selected from new employees and direct supervisors employed in four- and five-star hotels in Taiwan. The results revealed that MFs and DSNFA were positively related to new-employee OCB. However, DSNFA negatively moderated the relationship between MFs and new-employee OCB. That is, low DSNFA positively moderated the relationship between MFs and OCB more than high DSNFA did. The results were explained using COR theory, which states that the development of positive personality traits is limited to in specific circumstances. Organizations in the hospitality industry that emphasize on OCB should examine their human resource activities to optimize performance.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mediating effect of felt obligation for constructive change on the relationship between responsible leadership and organizational citizenship behavior for the environment (OCBE) in a China corporate environment, and this paper also analyze the moderated mediating effect of supervisor-subordinate guanxi on indirect relationship between responsible leadership and OCBE via felt obligation for constructive change. Design/methodology/approach This paper used 380 employee samples to analyze the relationship between responsible leadership and OCBE. Hierarchical regression analyses and structural equation modeling was adopted to analyze the data. Findings The authors found that the felt obligation for constructive change plays a fully mediating role between responsible leadership and OCBE. The authors also found a positive interaction between responsible leadership and supervisor-subordinate guanxi on felt obligation for constructive change, and then the indirect effect of responsible leadership on OCBE via felt obligation for constructive change was stronger when employees perceived a high-level supervisor-subordinate guanxi. Research limitations/implications When responsible leadership stimulates employees to generate a high sense of constructive change, employees are more likely to engage in OCBE. This study provides evidence for cognitive evaluation theory. This study further demonstrated the importance of establishing high-quality supervisor-subordinate guanxi for responsible leaders and subordinates in China. Practical implications In the management practice of the organization, the role of responsible leadership should be strengthened in terms of leadership development and, employee training and promotion, and high-quality supervisor-subordinate guanxi help to promote the effectiveness of responsible leadership. Originality/value This paper discusses how and when responsible leadership influences OCBE in a China corporate environment.

The purpose of this article is to do determine whether the positive or the negative association between Organizational Citizenship Behaviors and Job Embeddedness, Organizational Identification, Job Performance, Voluntary Turnover Intention in Korea. At Present, the organizational costs of leaving a job are often very high. It is not surprising, then, that employee retention has the attention of top-level managers in today's organizations. Recently, Mitchell, Holtom, Lee, Sablyski, and Erez(2001) focused on why people stay rather than on how they leave. In particular, they drew attention to the reasons people stay through their job embeddedness construct. They aggregated job embeddedness correlated with intention to leave and predicted subsequent voluntary turnover. More recently, According to Lee, Mitchell, Sablynski, Burton & Holtom(2004), job embeddedness was disaggregated into its two major subdimensions, on-the-job (that is, organizational fit, links, and sacrifice) and off-the-job embeddedness (that is, community fit, links, and sacrifice). They revealed that off-the-job embeddedness was significantly predictive of subsequent "voluntary turnover". Also, they revealed that on-the-job embeddedness was significantly predictive of organizational citizenship. They predicted that employee withdrawal occurs over time, with a decision about performing preceding a decision about participating. On the basis of situational and theoretical backgrounds as above, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between on-the-job embeddedness and job performance, voluntary turnover intention, organizational identification in Korean employees and the mediating effect of organizational citizenship behavior in that relationship. To empirical study for test a model as above, 300 structured questionnaires were distributed to Korean employees in Seoul, Busan, and Gyeongnam, Korea. 255 were finally analyzed. The results revealed that individuals' fit, links to the organization and organization-related sacrifice significantly had negative effects on voluntary turnover intention and positive effects on job performance, organizational identification and that Organizational citizenship behavior mediated the relationship between on-the-job embeddedness and job performance, voluntary turnover intention, organizational identification. Implications for managers in organizations are suggested.

Job involvement is the psychological identification with one‟s job. Studies show that those with high job involvement are inversely related to absenteeism, positively related to organizational citizenship behavior and in-role performance, organizational identification and employee commitment. Meanwhile psychological empowerment is a motivational construct that comprises individual cognitions and perceptions that constitute feelings of behavioral and psychological investment in a work. Empirical research on empowerment suggested that empowering subordinates is also a major component of organizational effectiveness. Knowing the importance of these two variables, therefore, a study has been carried out to examine the relationship between psychological empowerment and job involvement among bank managers in Peninsular Malaysia. A questionnaire survey was conducted and data were analyzed by using Smart PLS 3.0. Results of a survey of 151 bank managers revealed that psychological empowerment is positively related with job involvement.
