National Education Policy (2019) draft released from the Government of India, and they gave two months for teachers, teacher educators, principals, and policymakers to submit their perception. The researchers want to find awareness on National Education Policy (2019) among secondary school teachers in Madurai District. In his study, he finds that mainly the awareness level is below average. He finds the awareness according to the variable Gender, Location, Type of Institution, years of service, and type of family.

In order to revitalize Indian education system, the Government of India has recently approved National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020) and proposed sweeping changes including opening up of Indian higher education to foreign universities, dismantling of the UGC and the AICTE, introduction of a 4-year multidisciplinary undergraduate program with multiple exit options, and discontinuation of the M Phil program. It aims at making ‘India a global knowledge superpower’. In the light of National Education Policy-2020, agricultural education system needs to be redefined in India as it increases knowledge or information and farmer’s capacity to learn. As the level of agricultural education increases, farmers will become more and more self-reliant and will depend more on their self-studies dealing with farming. It is suggested that reorientation of agricultural higher education in context of globalization, food security, diversification, sustainability of ecosystems, and agribusiness is necessary. The curriculum of agricultural higher education needs to be made more broad based and manpower has to be trained scientifically in topics such as biotechnology, genetic engineering, agro-meteorology, environmental science, agro-ecology, computer application, information technology, conservation of natural and human resources, specialized job-oriented courses, and trade and export in agribusiness. Finally, adequate emphasis should be placed on practical skills and entrepreneurial capabilities among the students to achieve excellence. To properly address the challenges faced by today’s Indian agriculture, competent human resource in sufficiently large numbers would be required in the near future. There is a vast scope for young graduates to undertake agriculture as their profession which is directly or indirectly contributing to the economic and social development of the country.

This article aims to generate a better understanding of Hong Kong teachers’ perception of national education as implemented in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (hereafter referred to as Hong Kong SAR) and the interrelationship between their perception and the methods they adopt to teach the topic. We outline the Hong Kong context relevant to our research and review the relevant literature to consider typologies and teaching methods about and for national education. Questionnaire data focused on the seven typologies of nationalism and the three teaching methods of national education identified in the literature review. A total of 601 questionnaires were returned from 198 schools. The typologies of cultural nationalism, civic and peripheral nationalism, authoritarian nationalism, unification nationalism and cosmopolitan nationalism, and the teaching methods of group discussion and an affective approach characterize the views of Hong Kong secondary school teachers about national education. We suggest that teachers’ diverse views about nationalism and their varied use of teaching methods to achieve their goals suggest the powerful influence of current initiatives from the Chinese mainland and the need to reflect on established academic literature that proposes the decolonization of the curriculum and interactive and critical teaching methods.

<p>Changes in the education policy is normally viewed with apprehension by the teachers, as it brings a change to a higher or lower level, involving novel skills of learning and running through for the improvisation of the tasks done routinely. This paper scouts the new education policy 2020 and its empirical study in which the data is investigated about the earlier policies in depth. It is a framework, helpful for developing expertise in the specific area where the teachers have often felt anxiety.</p>

Information about Curriculum 2013 has seemed to make many EFL teachers feel anxious. This anxiety is assumed to happen due to the unwillingness of the teachers to implement the new curriculum because they have not yet even implemented the previous curriculum (KTSP) in their classrooms optimally. This study was aimed primarily at investigating the implementation of KTSP covering three important components: preparation, application, and evaluation by 107 secondary school teachers of English. To collect the data, “KTSP Implementation Questionnaire” was used. The data collected based on the teachers’ own perceptions were analyzed in relation to their education level, teaching experience, certification status, and KTSP socialization involvement. The results showed that (1) 62% teachers confessed that they had not yet optimally implemented KTSP although all of them had been involved in its dissemination program done by the government; (2) there was no correlation between either education level or teaching experience and the implementation of KTSP. However, (3) there was a significant correlation between teachers’ certification status and their (i) KTSP preparation, (ii) teaching experience, and (iii) involvement in dissemination program activities.

<p>Purpose: The axle of this study is to trace out the educational implications from Bhagwad Gita with specific reference to ‘Pedagogy’ aspect in the successful implementation of National Education Policy-2020 of India. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses qualitative approach and deploys a mix of desktop and Hermeneutics analysis to trace out the educational implications with specific reference to ‘Pedagogy’ aspect while seeking perspective from Bhagwad Gita. The national education policy had been studied in detail and tens of research papers on pedagogy aspect along with a deeper study of Bhagwad Gita were studied to seek a perspective on pedagogy aspect of NEP-2020. Findings: The study concludes that the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita has great potential to address the some of the crucial aspects of NEP-2020 especially the Pedagogy, which in itself is the most crucial deciding factor in the successful implementation of the NEP-2020. Thus, the success in implementation of NEP-2020 will depend on many factors including the pedagogy used by teachers who have to actually implement the policy at the ground level. The study concludes that the NEP 2020 can be successfully implemented by drawing learning with respect to pedagogy from our ancient treatise Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, which still stands ahead of times. This implies that in order to achieve the objectives of the new education system as laid down by NEP-2020, it is imperative to pay special attention to the pedagogical aspect of teaching, which in turn can be adopted from Bhagwad Gita. Originality/value: This is the first study of its kind where a mix of desktop and Hermeneutics analysis has been used while drawing inferences and relevance from Bhagwad Gita on Pedagogy aspect of NEP-2020, which could become the basis for successful implementation of the same and also for future studies in this direction.</p><p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/edu_01/0792/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

Job satisfaction has mostly been investigated in both developed and developing countries because it has a strong relationship with job outcomes. This paper focuses on investigating the job satisfaction level and also explores impact of some selected personal characteristics of teachers on job satisfaction in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The study used quantitative research design. From the seven divisional headquarter districts, researchers selected 744 senior secondary school teachers (SSST) through a stratified random sampling method. The teachers job satisfaction level was found high. The findings revealed that teachers gender, age, experience, academic and professional qualifications have significant effect on their job satisfaction. These personal characteristics have significant impact and predict teachers job satisfaction. It is suggested that the government should bring such reforms in the service structure which leads to increase the social status of teaching occupation and positive feelings among secondary school teachers opting to teach as a career.

The paper aims to examine the effects of financial rewards on job commitment among public secondary school teachers in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study was anchored on the interpretative meaning of expectancy theory. The sample consisted of 750 public secondary school teachers drawn from the three senatorial districts of Ogun State. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit information on socio-demographic characteristics and types of financial rewards available to public secondary school teachers in Ogun State. The data collected were analyzed using frequency counts and percentages. The hypothesis stipulated was analyzedusing Pearson product moment. The study found out that prompt payment of teachers’ salaries induce higher commitment to teaching, public school teachers were not satisfied with the government remuneration and there was positive and strong relationship between financial rewards and teachers job commitment (r = 0.74). The study concluded that there is significant relationship between financial rewards and teachers’ job commitment. The authors recommended that the government should provide a special salary structure for government secondary school teachers like their counterparts in other professions since they are disputably the most significant group of professionals for any nation’s economy.

The study investigated influence of perceived organisational justice and organisational climate on job performanceamong secondary school teachers in Makurdi metropolis. A total of 188 secondary school teachers were drawn fromMakurdi metropolis. The findings revealed that 106 (56.4%) were males and 79(42.0%) were females. The studyused three standardized instruments which include (i) Organisational justice scale was developed by Nerinhoff andMoorman (1993), Organizational climate questionnaire developed by DeCottis and Koys (1991) and JobPerformance Scale developed by Goodman and Svyantek (1999). Results from the hypotheses tested showed thatperceived organizational justice significantly influence job performance. [F (3,182) = 64.222, P<.001]. The resultalso indicated that organizational climate did not significantly influence job performance among secondary schoolteachers [F (1,181) = .003, P>.05. The result finally showed that perceived organizational justice and organizationalclimate significantly and jointly influence job performance [F (4,181) = 50.131, P<.001. Based on the findings of thestudy, it was recommended among others that, the government through the ministry of education should organiseseminars to enlighten school management officials on the important roles played by perceived organisational justiceand job performance among teachers thus provide adequate working environment for proper leaning.

Well defined and futuristic education policy is essential for a country at school and college levels due to the reason that education leads to economic and social progress. India with the leadership of its current prime minister and an expert team with members of varied backgrounds has developed and planned to implement a new education policy during the next decade of the 21st century called Indian National Education Policy (NEP-2020). The aim, objectives, and details are well known to practitioners and the public. NEP-2020 is an innovative and futuristic proposal with both positive and negative aspects, framed with the objective to provide a quality school education and higher education to everyone with an expectation of holistic & research-oriented progress. This paper initially depicts an overview of NEP-2020, distinguish the strengths & weakness of the policy at higher education & research part, evaluation of the implementation suggestions given in the policy, identifying and analyzing possible generic strategies for implementation of NEP-2020 to fulfill its objectives based on focus group discussions. The paper also includes many predictive proposals on issues like developing quality universities & colleges, institutional restructuring & consolidation, more holistic & multidisciplinary education, optimal learning environment & student support, transforming the regulatory system of higher education, technology usage & integration, and online & digital education. Finally, some recommendations are made to implement the NEP2020 effectively irrespective of various constraints. This article can be considered as a reference to the policy implementation teams of Govt of India.

A case study was conducted to explore public secondary school teachers’ perspectives, practices, and experiences concerning the design and implementation of the English curriculum, as well as the professional development offered by the government in order to implement language policies and curriculum guidelines in the city of Medellin, Colombia. The study lasted one year and included a survey, the analysis of curriculum documents from five selected institutions, and focus group interviews as data collection instruments. Results indicate that the initiatives provided by the government have not been effective in supporting teachers in this endeavor as they have been very limited in terms of curriculum design, and reflect a technical view of teacher learning. In addition, several contextual and social factors have tremendously affected the implementation of language policies and curriculum guidelines in schools. Besides, teachers point to several needs, including that they have more time to appropriate and implement reforms, that they be included in policy-making as affected parties, that professional development initiatives be freed from political and economic interests and that they be offered a preparation that combines improving their language proficiency, English teaching methodologies and curriculum design.
