This study investigates the passengers' adoption of a ride-sharing service app (UBER) in Bangladesh. This study employed the most widely used and cited IT adoption model, The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology-2 (UTAUT2), as the theoretical framework to examine the passengers' adoption of the popular sharing economy tools ride-sharing service applications (i.e., Uber). This study adds a new construct, safety, in the UTAUT2 model. Data were obtained from 206 participants which were analyzed using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicated that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, and facilitating conditions are the most significant determinant factors of behavioral intention to use the Uber app. In contrast, behavioral intention to use the Uber app is not significantly influenced by price value and safety. Additionally, the theoretical and practical implications of these results are discussed, which elicits the importance for business managers, marketers, and policymakers on sharing economy platforms.

Rapid scaling of using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been seen recently in numerous applications in healthcare to deliver proper services. This was motivated by the declining size and cost of the employed IoT devices. Developing such technology has been well investigated in the literature; however, few studies have explored the factors influencing its adaptation in the healthcare setting. In this study, we investigate the core factors that influence the acceptance of using IoT for Healthcare Purposes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Accordingly, a theoretical framework, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), was developed and tested empirically. The modified model added variables that provide a better explanation of the acceptance of healthcare technology. To ground our conceptual idea, a survey was designed and performed on 407 patients (207 males, 200 females). The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was applied to analyze the effect of eight hypothesized predicting constructs on the collected data. Results revealed that cost, privacy concerns, and perceived usefulness were the most significant predictors of behavioral intention to use. However, attitude and perceived connectedness were found to be irrelevant in predicting the intention to use IoT. Ultimately, results found that there is no correlation between gender and behavioral intention.

Business simulation games (BSGs) are educational tools that help students develop business management knowledge and skills. However, to date, relatively little research has investigated the factors that influence students’ BSG usage intention. Grounded on the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, this study helped to fill this gap by exploring intention to use BSGs. Specifically, this study investigated the influence of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, and price value on behavioral intention to use BSGs. Data collected from 141 useful respondents were tested against the research model using partial least square approach. The results of this study indicated that behavioral intention to use BSGs was influenced by facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, and price value. Unexpectedly, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence were not predictive of students’ behavioral intention to use BSGs. These findings enhanced our understanding of students’ BSG usage behavior and provided several important theoretical and practical implications for the application of BSG in the context of business and management education.

The emergence of e-patients has encouraged consumers, people who are non-medical experts, to be more engaged in healthcare needs by utilizing online sources via social media. However, the nature of social media and regulation issues have caused concerns for the reliability and validity of the shared information. These phenomena shape consumers behavior in leveraging social media for e-patient activities. This study investigates consumer behavior using an integrated model based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT). The data collected from the participants (N = 312) was analyzed using partial least square structural equation modelling. The results showed that behavioral intention to use social media for e-patient activities was significantly affected by performance expectancy, effort expectancy, perceived severity, perceived susceptibility, and response efficacy; and that behavioral intention corresponded positively to usage intention. In addition, the results also indicate that the intention to use social media for health-related purposes is driven by awareness of preventing health problems and attempts to reduce the risk of developing an illness. Based on findings, this study recommends strategies and initiatives to optimize social media for promoting a healthy lifestyle and educating society about public health and healthcare management.

QR Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) is a digital payment system using a QR code that officially regulated in 2020. However, during the implementation of QRIS, there were still several problems, including security and data problems. The balance at the transaction time was not truncated, misuse of data, and application errors when scanning QR codes. This study aims to determine the factors that affect the acceptance of digital payments using QRIS. Especially those related to gaps in problems and research by combining the theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and other variables that are also a problem in applying digital payments Security and Trust. The target population of this study is all digital payment users who use QRIS. Through the convenience sampling method, with a sample of 205 respondents. The questionnaire is distributed through an online questionnaire with Microsoft form. After that, the data will be evaluated using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) - Partial Least Square (PLS). The study results show that security as a reference is fundamental for users to increase their intention to use QR codes. Meanwhile, other components such as performance expectations and trust have proven to be essential components in initiating the intention to use digital payments using QR Code. However, not all variables from UTAUT have a significant impact, such as effory expectations. This is because an essential point in using digital payments using QR codes, especially during a pandemic, requires more security and productivity.   Received: 19 June 2021 / Accepted: 15 September 2021 / Published: 5 November 2021

The authors have tested the relationships between UTAUT constructs and the behavioral intention to use mobile internet technology with samples drawn from India and Germany. They have also tested the moderating role of age, gender, and user experience between UTAUT constructs and behavioral intention using hierarchical regression analysis. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS SEM) was used to test the UTAUT without moderating effects. The results show that UTAUT constructs influence behavioral intention. Behavioral intention also predicts the use of technology. Empirical evidence was established for the UTAUT model based on the samples from both countries. “Experience of use” moderated the relationship between effort expectancy and behavioral intention in the Indian sample. The last section of the article discusses the contributions of this research to theory, its practical implications, limitations, and the scope for future research.
