This study presents the results of studying the effect of shock-wave loading on the initiation of synthesis in Ni-Al powder mixture inside titanium matrix. X-ray phase analysis (XRD) and measurement of the microhardness of the intermetallic layer showed that this layer consists of a monophase product NiAl, which is formed directly during explosive loading at a given impact velocity of the plate. Thus, the use of shock-wave loading made it possible to obtain a layered material with a strengthening intermetallic layer. The results obtained are promising for the development of new structural materials with special performance properties.

This paper studies shock wave loading and heat treatment of a Ni-Al powder mixture in a metal matrix. We had found that a monophasic product NiAl was synthesized at the flyer plate velocity of 1500 m/s, immediately, or at 550 m/s during heat treatment (up to 750 °C) and for 3 hours heat treatment. Initiation temperature of powder mixture was about 600 °C. The results got are perspective for the development and production of composite materials with an intermetallic layer.

The article is devoted to the study of the characteristics of shock-wave processing of powder mixtures capable of an exothermic reaction of the synthesis of metal-ceramic materials. Experiments on shock-wave initiation of synthesis in systems based on Ti-B and Ti-C with 10% and 20% Ni content were carried out. Explosive loading was carried out by oblique throwing of a steel drummer with speeds of 1000 m / s and 1500 m / s. X-ray phase analysis of synthesis products showed the presence of TiB2 diboride and TiC carbide in the nickel bond. The significant role of the mechanical activation of powder mixtures in increasing the sensitivity of SHS-mixtures to shock-wave loading is shown.
