The article seeks to philosophically introduce “Radical Focusing” as a new concept in fighting drugs among the Kenyan youths and in the rest of the tropical Africa. By “Radical Focusing”, it means, employing the whole armour for combat in our bid to dismantle this destructive trajectory that principally threatens to wipe out the youth, and the boy-child in particular. The concept of radical focusing is largely inspired by Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s concept of the “Costly Grace.” In this concept of the costly grace in Nazi Germany of 1930s, Bonhoeffer fought injustices to the point of his own physical destruction during the era of Adolf Hitler. Owing to the sad scenarios of the day, Bonhoeffer inspired us to fight vices to the very end, and radically focus on the noble agenda throughout.  The data in this article has been collected through the use of questionnaires and interview schedule. Questionnaires were administered to the interviewees, most of whom sought anonymity owing to the sensitive nature of research. Apart from the interviews, existing commissions of investigative inquiry on education such as the Ominde commission of 1964 which proposed that the government should take over from churches and eventually manage schools; and Kamunge Commission among others, have provided resourceful information to the research that gave birth to this article. It is hoped that the research findings will go a long way in reconstructing our broken society for the better, and eventually bring remedy for drug abuse to masses of people who have lost direction in this endeavor.

This study will examine the National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking (2012) which represents Canada's response and commitment to combating trafficking. The goal of this study is to explore if the government‟s conceptualization of victims in the action plan is representative of current trafficking trends as outlined in the Threat Assessment report of the RCMP and scholars. Research findings reveal that the gendered constructions of trafficked victims by the government as foreign vulnerable women may be representative of an ideal subject which generates public attention. This representation of victims however may not depict true characteristics as contrasting findings were found in other documents and articles. Research findings reveal that careful consideration is required when conceptualizing subjects as it sequentially impacts the development of government strategies and policies.

The example of the employer response to substance abuse provides an illustrative case of the importance of environmental influences in shaping the employer response to worker deviance. Despite similar claims of the ill effects of worker abuse on the business interests of employers (e.g., absenteeism and lost productivity), abuse of alcohol and drugs are defined differently, the proper limits of employer interest are defined differently, and the two substances are dealt with quite differently, strongly influenced by the organizational environment. The author describes major differences in employer control efforts in the policy areas of identification, discipline, and rehabilitation for alcohol versus illegal drug cases and provides a conceptual framework for thinking about these differences and the influences on them.

Corona Virus or Covid-19 has taken over all the world, including Indonesia. This virus outbreak has become a pandemic because of its lightning-fast spread and greater number of death rate. Ambon as one of the cities in Eastern Indonesia is also affected by Corona Virus. The higher the positive cases in Ambon, the higher the hazardous and toxic waste production (B3). Now, the government of Maluku province is preparing B3 waste management facilities, so that this research aims to investigate the appropriate location for this waste management. This research was a qualitative descriptive by applying a SIG method, that was analysing the area function with the parameter of slope, soil type, and rainfall. The area function could be used to consider the development plans of an area. Then, the data of buildings was used as a basic to determine the ideal area with the service range of 500 meter in accordance with the standard distance of B3 waste management facilities from surrounding buildings. The research findings show four alternative areas of B3 waste management facilities in Ambon. These four areas are safe to be built hazardous and toxic waste (B3) management facilities since these are located far away from the settlements.

Fifty-three psychiatric hospital inpatients with a dual diagnosis of substance abuse and schizophrenia were given the Brief Symptom Inventory and the Schizophrenia/Substance Abuse Interview Schedule. Mean age was 29; 49 were men. Only 11% were employed. Forty percent abused mainly alcohol, 40% cannabis and 8% amphetamines; 20% abused more than one substance. Mean onset age of drug abuse was 16 years; schizophrenia was diagnosed a mean of 5 years later, and subjects had been admitted to hospital an average of 7 times since then. Most believed that drug abuse initiated or exacerbated their schizophrenia; 80% took drugs primarily to relieve dysphoria and anxiety. Amphetamines improved subjective well-being significantly more than alcohol, but choice of drugs was determined mainly by price and availability. Only cannabis increased positive symptoms of schizophrenia and only amphetamines reduced negative ones. Effectively treating this population requires an integration of psychiatric and drug treatment services, ideally in a community context.
