A Blockchain is a shared ledger distributed across a business network. Blockchain is creating extraordinary opportunities for businesses to come together in new ways such as creating new values, optimize ecosystems and reduce risk. Using this Blockchain virtually anything of value can be tracked and traded, without requiring a central point of control.Blockchain is disrupting the supply chain industry the way they Technology are currently operating, in terms of overcoming issues with their operating layer, Document layer and Messaging layer.One of the objectives of the study was to identify the relevant blockchain use cases that can address the current pain points of various participants in the integrated supply chain process and improve the current operational and technical environment. Supply chain costs can typically amount to 70% and holds the most levers for optimization. Gaining effective visibility and insights into the operations delivers significant and sustainable benefits. The assessment methodology focused around existing processes, technology & supply chain participant roles to establish common workflows across different participants, understanding of client’s pain points, operational inefficiencies and technology maturity. Post which came up with an "Industry Circle" to clearly articulate participants and their respective data exchange patterns to recommend optimizations. Supply and replenishment patterns become long term strategies rather than short term operational tactics. With Blockchain enabled supply chain, bring in value in terms of full visibility, transparency, reduced time, security in the entire network (for example: components can be tracked from their manufacturing to finished product) and with Smart Contracts, SLAs executed automatically.

One renewable energy form currently being promoted is that of biodiesel as a substitute for diesel fuel. This involves mixing biodiesel with petrodiesel in proportions governed by the respective regulations of each country. The purposes of this research are to support the exploiting of biodiesel forms of renewable energy and to optimize the palm oil-sourced biodiesel supply chain by conducting an Indonesia-based case study. The optimization process was implemented in accordance with the government's mandate and long-term planning. There are two decision variables to consider. First, the model will identify the optimum delivery point locations as a blending terminal between biodiesel and petrodiesel (petroleum diesel). Second, it will determine the location of biodiesel plants’ construction in order to satisfy the government's mandate. The results show that, while determining delivery point locations affects supply chain costs, it does not do so significantly. More influential is determining the construction locations of biodiesel plants and this study provides a model for deciding the delivery points and locations of biodiesel plants in order to minimize biodiesel supply chain costs in Indonesia. This study presents in detail biodiesel supply chain process in Indonesia and based on the literature, no research was found on studying optimization biodiesel supply chain in Indonesia.

A review of the current literature and an analysis of the supply chain in changing global markets emphasize the relative importance of strategically managing the supply chain process given the limited resources of the small- to mid-sized firm.

Excessive waste is one of the problems in the food supply chain system. This study aims to identify supply chain players, map, and reduce waste that occurs in the Papaya California agribusiness supply chain process in Cikarang, Bekasi. Data collection was obtained from the results of field studies and interviews with parties involved in the supply chain such as farmers, distributors, retailers, and consumers. Increasing the effectiveness of Papaya's supply chain network is by improving the quality of packaging (modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), smart packaging, active packaging, and intelligent packag­ing), sharing data among chain players supply, implement refri­ge­ration and monitor transportation technology and promote the long term.  Good coordination between parties involved in the Papaya supply chain has a significant role in creating an effective and effici­ent supply chain system.

PurposeProcess models specific to the supply chain domain are an important tool for the analysis of interorganizational interfaces and requirements of information technology (IT) systems supporting supply chain decision-making. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of supply chain process models for novice analysts in conveying domain semantics compared to alternative textual representations.Design/methodology/approachA laboratory experiment with graduate students as proxies for novice analysts was conducted. Participants were randomly assigned to either the diagram group, which worked with “thread diagrams” created from the modeling grammar “Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) model”, or the text group, which worked with semantically equivalent textual representations. Domain understanding was measured using cognitively demanding information acquisition for two different domains.FindingsDiagram users were more accurate in identifying product-related information and organizing this information in a graph compared to those using the textual representation. The authors found considerable improvements in domain understanding, and using the diagrams was perceived as easy as using the texts.Originality/valueThe study's findings are unique in providing empirical evidence for supply chain process models being an effective representation for novice analysts. Such evidence is lacking in prior research because of the evaluation methods used, which are limited to scenario, case study and informed argument. This study adds the diagram user's perspective to that literature and provides a rigorous empirical evaluation by contrasting diagrammatic and textual representations.
