scholarly journals A Machine Learning Based Email Spam Classification Framework Model: Related Challenges and Issues

Spam emails, also known as non-self, are unsolicited commercial emails or fraudulent emails sent to a particular individual or company, or to a group of individuals. Machine learning algorithms in the area of spam filtering is commonly used. There has been a lot of effort to render spam filtering more efficient in classifying e-mails as either ham (valid messages) or spam (unwanted messages) through the ML classifiers. We may recognize the distinguishing features of the material of documents. Much important work has been carried out in the area of spam filtering which cannot be adapted to various conditions and problems which are limited to certain domains. Our analysis contrasts the positives methods as well as some shortcomings of current ML methods and open spam filters study challenges. We suggest some of the new ongoing approaches towards deep leaning as potential tactics that can tackle the challenge of spam emails efficiently.

Telecommunication has registered strong and rapid growth in the past decade. Accordingly, the monitoring of computers and networks is too complicated for network administrators. Hence, network security represents one of the biggest serious challenges that can be faced by network security communities. Taking into consideration the fact that e-banking, e-commerce, and business data will be shared on the computer network, these data may face a threat from intrusion. The purpose of this research is to propose a methodology that will lead to a high level and sustainable protection against cyberattacks. In particular, an adaptive anomaly detection framework model was developed using deep and machine learning algorithms to manage automatically-configured application-level firewalls. The standard network datasets were used to evaluate the proposed model which is designed for improving the cybersecurity system. The deep learning based on Long-Short Term Memory Recurrent Neural Network (LSTM-RNN) and machine learning algorithms namely Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN) algorithms were implemented to classify the Denial-of-Service attack (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. The information gain method was applied to select the relevant features from the network dataset. These network features were significant to improve the classification algorithm. The system was used to classify DoS and DDoS attacks in four stand datasets namely KDD cup 199, NSL-KDD, ISCX, and ICI-ID2017. The empirical results indicate that the deep learning based on the LSTM-RNN algorithm has obtained the highest accuracy. The proposed system based on the LSTM-RNN algorithm produced the highest testing accuracy rate of 99.51% and 99.91% with respect to KDD Cup’99, NSL-KDD, ISCX, and ICI-Id2017 datasets, respectively. A comparative result analysis between the machine learning algorithms, namely SVM and KNN, and the deep learning algorithms based on the LSTM-RNN model is presented. Finally, it is concluded that the LSTM-RNN model is efficient and effective to improve the cybersecurity system for detecting anomaly-based cybersecurity.

Today, Email Spam has become a major problem, with Rapid increament of internet users, Email spams is also increasing. People are using email spam for illegal and unethical conducts, phishing and fraud. Sending malicious link through spam emails which can damage the system and can also seek in into your system. Spammer creates a fake profile and email account which is easier for them. These spammers target those peoples who are not aware about frauds. So there is a need to identify the fraud in terms of spam emails. In this paper we will identify the spam by using machine learning algorithms.

Machine learning algorithms are used immensely for performing most important computational tasks with the help of sample data sets.  Most of the cases Machine learning algorithms will provide best solution where the programming languages failed to produce viable and economically cost-effective results.  Huge volume of deterministic problems are addressed and tackled by using the available sample data sets.  Because of this now a days machine learning concepts are extensively used in computer science and many other fields.  But still we need to explore more to implement machine learning in a specific field such as network analysis, stock trading, spam filters, traffic analysis, real-time and non-real time traffic etc., which may not be available in text books.  Here I would like to discourse some of the key points that the machine learning researchers and practitioners can make use of them.  These include shortcomings and concerns also.
