scholarly journals Design and Fabrication of Automated Urinal Flushing System Using Mechanical Elements With Disinfectant

In India, One of the most important problem is Infected Public Toilets especially Urinals that no one worried about the Flushing of Urinals. Hence, the infected urinals cause diseases to the users by spreading infectious germs, therefore complete cleaning of urinals is essential to maintain the hygienic conditions. In this paper, to tackle this problem by the development of Urinal flushing system with a less usage of water. This flushing system is made of mechanical elements. Automatic flushing system is one of the essential technologies in India as it is used for maintaining hygienic conditions especially in public urinals. This flushing system does not require an electric power as making it highly useful and reliable in public places like garden and public urinals. Also, this system conserves the water and the electricity. In this setup, Rocker Disc is connected with the mechanical linkages for the flexibility of valve operations.

Persons with disabilities often experience obstacles because there are no accessible facilities available to them in public places. The purpose of this study is to obtain an overview of the accessibility of public toilets in public transportation located in Yogyakarta. The research took the case of Giwangan bus station, Yogyakarta (Tugu) train station, Lempuyangan train station, Wates train station, Maguwoharjo train station, and Adisutjipto airport. This type of research is descriptive evaluative. Data collection is done by using purposive sampling technique and by the method of observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the accessibility of sanitation services at Adisucipto airport and all train stations is good; while accessibility at the Giwangan terminal is still lacking.[Para difabel sering mengalami hambatan karena tidak terdapatnya fasilitas yang aksesibel bagi mereka di tempat-tempat umum.

Security systems must be continuously developed in order to cope with new challenges. One example of such challenges is the proliferation of sexual harassment against women in public places, such as public toilets and public transportation. Although separately designated toilets or waiting and seating areas in public transports are provided, enforcing these restrictions need constant manual surveillance. In this paper we propose an automatic gender classification system based on an individual’s facial characteristics. We evaluate the performance of QLRBP and MLLPQ as feature extractors combined with SVM or kNN as classifiers. Our experiments show that MLLPQ gives superior performance compared to QLRBP for either classifier. Furthermore, MLLPQ is less computationally demanding compared to QLRBP. The best result we achieved in our experiments was the combination of MLLPQ and kNN classifier, yielding an accuracy rate of 92.11%.

Provision of public toilets is not merely a matter of utilizing land, but it is an essential component of design and planning. Inadequate provision of accessible public toilets in the city of Lahore in Pakistan, is not only affecting the quality of the city but is also discomforting its residents. To examine the current status of the public toilets and the major causes of open defecation, a survey of four hundred respondents in different public places of Lahore city was conducted, along with a review of various polices in place with regards to public toilet provision. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) established a comprehensive set of features responsible for achieving an effective solution to provision of public toilets, which ranged from accessibility, to availability, cleanliness, maintenance and safety. The paper reveals that the availability and cleanliness of public toilets should be ensured at potential urban spaces, as that can contribute to healthy and accessible environment for citizens and make cities sustainable and livable.
