scholarly journals Vehicle Security System

Our project is designed to detect major and minor accidents. These accidents are detected and notified to the driver’s emergency contact and to emergency service center like hospitals, police station, regarding the location and information of the driver. An SMS is sent in order to notify the emergency contacts. This system uses theft control mechanism for its implementation. The system is provided with an emergency switch to control the engine after the password is received from the owner of the automobile. This system is interfaced with vehicle air bag mechanism for security purposes. In case of vehicle theft situations, owner can know the vehicle’s current location and the vehicle can be stopped by sending a predefined SMS to the system. After receiving the SMS, ignition is turned off automatically by the system.

Vehicle theft is one of the most common cases in big cities. The absence of a security system on a vehicle is one of the causes of the case. Therefore, we need a security system on the vehicle in the form of an alarm and can also perform the tracking function. This study aims to design a vehicle security system using GPS and SMS Gateway technology. This system uses the u-blox Neo6m GPS module, GSM SIM 800L v2 module and Arduino Uno microcontroller. The tracking system uses data from GPS coordinates sent to the user's smartphone number and displayed on the Google Maps application. The accuracy of GPS coordinates in this system when compared to GPS on smartphones has a gap of between 1 - 26 meters. The response time when the user sends a command to track the vehicle to get a reply sms that is ± 37.6 seconds.

Vehicle security is one of the major concerns that the entire world is currently experiencing. People generally own automobiles, yet these automobiles are not always secure. Vehicle theft occurs in parking lots, public places, and other unsafe areas. The vehicle’s manufacturer does not consider the vehicle security system to be a factor in the overall cost of the vehicle. Nowadays, only a few vehicles come equipped with high-priced security systems. Door locking, alarm system, GSM, GPS, and other security features are built into high-end vehicles only. There is a necessity to build a low-cost security system for vehicles that common people can afford it and the manufacture can built-in the security system in a wide range of automobiles. This paper proposed a method for vehicle theft detection, tracking, and accident identification using the Internet of Things.
