Classification is a data mining technique that categorizes the items in a database to target classes. The aim of classification is to accurately find the target class for each instance of the data. Associative classification is a classification method that uses Class Association Rules for classification. Associative classification is found to be often more accurate than some traditional classification methods. The major disadvantage of associative classification is the generation of redundant and weak class association rules. Weak class association rules results in increase in size and decrease in accuracy of the classifier. This paper proposes an efficient approach to build a compact and accurate classifier by using interestingness measures for pruning rules. Interestingness measures play a vital role in reducing the size and increasing the accuracy of classifier by pruning redundant or weak rules. Rules which are strong are retained and these rules are further used to build the classifier. The source of the data used in this paper is University of California Irvine Machine Learning Repository. The approach proposed in this paper is effective and the results show that the approach can produce a highly compact and accurate classifier

AbstractMost past approaches to data mining have been based on association rules. However, the simple application of association rules usually only changes the user's problem from dealing with millions of data points to dealing with thousands of rules. Although this may somewhat reduce the scale of the problem, it is not a completely satisfactory solution. This paper presents a new data mining technique, called knowledge cohesion (KC), which takes into account a domain ontology and the user's interest in exploring certain data sets to extract knowledge, in the form of semantic nets, from large data sets. The KC method has been successfully applied to mine causal relations from oil platform accident reports. In a comparison with association rule techniques for the same domain, KC has shown a significant improvement in the extraction of relevant knowledge, using processing complexity and knowledge manageability as the evaluation criteria.

Associative Classification in data mining technique formulates more and more simple methods and processes to find and predict the health problems like diabetes, tumors, heart problems, thyroid, cancer, malaria etc. The methods of classification combined with association rule mining gradually helps to predict large amount of data and also builds the accurate classification models for the future analysis. The data in medical area is sometimes vast and containss the information that relates to different diseases. It becomes difficult to estimate and analyze the disease problems that change from period to period based on severity. In this research paper, the use and need of associative classification for the medical data sets and the application of associative classification on the data in order to predict the by-diseases has been put front. The association rules in this context developed in training phase of data have predicted the chance of occurrence of other diseases in persons suffering with diabetes mellitus using Predictive Apriori. The associative classification algorithms like CAR is deployed in the context of accuracy measures.

Associations rule mining along with classification rule mining are both significant techniques of mining of knowledge in the area of knowledge discovery in massive databases stored in different geographic locations of the world. Based on such combination of these two, class association rules for mining or associative classification methods have been generated, which, in far too many cases, showed higher prediction accuracy than platitudinous conventional classifiers. Motivated by the study, in this paper, we proposed a new approach, namely IHAC (Incorporating Heuristics for efficient rule generation & rule selection in Associative Classification). First, it utilises the database to decrease the search space and then explicitly explores the potent class association rules from the optimised database. This also blends rule generation and classifier building to speed up the overall classifier construction cycle. Experimental findings showed that IHAC performs better than any further associative classification methods.

Despite the existence of different methods, including data mining techniques, available to be used in recommender systems, such systems still contain numerous limitations. They are in a constant need for personalization in order to make effective suggestions and to provide valuable information of items available. A way to reach such personalization is by means of an alternative data mining technique called classification based on association, which uses association rules in a prediction perspective. In this work we propose a hybrid methodology for recommender systems, which uses collaborative filtering and content-based approaches in a joint method taking advantage from the strengths of both approaches. Moreover, we also employ fuzzy logic to enhance recommendations' quality and effectiveness. In order to analyze the behavior of the techniques used in our methodology, we accomplished a case study using real data gathered from two recommender systems. Results revealed that such techniques can be applied effectively in recommender systems, minimizing the effects typical drawbacks they present.

There are a number of recommendation systems available on the internet for the help of jobseekers. These systems only generate job recommendations for people on the basis of input entered by user. The problem observed in Pakistani people is they are not clear in which field they should start or switch working. Before searching and applying for a job, one should be clear about his/her profession and important skills regarding selected profession. Based on above issues, there is a need to design such a system that can overcome the problem of profession selection and skills suggestions so that it can be easy for a jobseeker to apply for a specific job. In this research, the problem which is discussed above is resolved by proposing a model by using Association Rules Mining, a data mining technique. In this model, professions are recommended to job seekers by matching the profile of applicant or job seeker with those persons who have same profile like educational background, professional skills and the type of jobs which they are doing. The data collected for this research itself is a major contribution as we collected it from different sources. We will make this data publically available for others so that they can use for further research.

Abstract: The library is one of the most important means to add insight and knowledge to everyone. In general, borrowing transaction data books that exist in a library are only left to accumulate by the library in the database without any utilization or further processing of the data that has long been stored. By utilizing the Data Mining technique using association rules with FP-Growth, these data will be very useful. Because from the data lending books to the library, new information can be gleaned about what books are often borrowed and know the pattern of relationships between books that have been borrowed together so that later it can be used to compile books in accordance with the existing borrowing patterns so that they can facilitate library visitors in the process of finding books.
