The reported research explains energy saving opportunity in welding process dominated industry carried out for different small and medium scale enterprises that produce components for agricultural applications. The study concentrates the energy audit on the agricultural implements and tractor trailer industries as the agriculture is the main occupation of India. A total number of 15 small and medium scale industries are considered for the energy audit. The investigations revealed welding operation as a major energy consumer in agriculture implement industries contributing to about 84% of the total energy consumption. The welding machine efficiency varies from 35% to 50% in the considered industrial clusters. Based on the results it is suggested that the energy saving can be increased by 40% - 45% by adoption of inverter arc welding technology.

The energy audit program was carried out for Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK), University Malaysia Pahang by internal energy audit team. This paper presented annual energy consumption trend for FTK building, measurement finding for room data survey (air conditioning temperature and humidity comfort performance & CO2 level for air quality) and lighting, Building Energy Index (BEI) value and appropriate recommendation in regards of energy saving practice and technological solution. According to those analysis, value for Building Energy Index (BEI) in FTK building is 98.035 kWh/m2/year, Air Conditioning Energy Index (ACEI) is 73.254 kWh/m2/year while for Lighting Energy Index (LEI) is 11.402 kWh/m2/year. Total energy consumption estimated for 2017 is 31, 7951.375 kWh per year. The implementation of the proposed energy conservation measures were expected to give positive results where the total cost saving per year is estimated about RM 48,551.20. Finally, it was recommended to implement three major energy conservation measures (ECMs) in specific: implementation of Sustainable energy management system (SEMS), maintenance of air conditioning system and retrofitting of LED lighting. As a result, FTK is targeted to achieve 30% annual energy saving about from the total energy consumption.

The occupational risk assessment of a machine building company must cover each activity and workstation, taking into account each component of the production system (work system), each workload, work equipment and the work environment. This assessment is an extremely complicated and complex issue since the production system of such an enterprise is particularly complex and complicated. Welding assembly is a highly polluting technology process, especially of the atmosphere and soil. The formation of gases in the welding process is the result of burning of the electrodes, powders, forming the molten metal bath and making the weld seam. Welding operators are exposed to smoke and toxic gases resulting from the welding process, which can in many cases be hazardous to health. Many acute intoxications that may be caused by excessive exposure to or short exposure to smoke and gas resulting from the welding process have been studied over time. In the paper are presented the elements of risk related to the welding process and the most widespread occupational diseases that can occur in the ranges of the welding operators. The following are presented the noxious emissions from welding and are determined by a practical method the emission of noxious at welding deposition of a welding sample, using the manual arc welding process with coated electrode.

Few small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have undertaken an energy audit to date and even fewer have taken action to implement energy-saving measures. Lack of time, knowledge, and finance, coupled with the low priority that SMEs give to energy management, are the most commonly cited barriers to effective energy management in SMEs. Four projects funded by Horizon 2020 (SPEEDIER, SMEmPower Efficiency, E2DRIVER, and Innoveas) have developed innovative capacity-building programmes designed to eliminate these barriers and encourage SMEs to undertake energy audits and implement the recommended energy efficiency measures. This paper presents an overview of the innovations being tested and suggests a series of policy recommendations that could help to drive uptake of energy audits in SMEs.
