The paper deals with faults diagnosis method proposed to detect the inter-turn and turn to earth short circuit in stator winding of three-phase high-speed solid rotor induction motors. This method based on negative sequence current of motor and fuzzy neural network algorithm. On the basis of analysis of 2-D electromagnet field in the solid rotor the rotor impedance has been derived to develop the solid rotor induction motor equivalent circuit. The motor equivalent circuit is simulated by MATLAB software to study and record the data for training and testing the proposed diagnosis method. The numerical results of proposed approach are evaluated using simulation of a three-phase high-speed solid-rotor induction motor of two-pole, 140 Hz. The results of simulation shows that the proposed diagnosis method is fast and efficient for detecting inter-turn and turn to earth faults in stator winding of high-speed solid-rotor induction motors with different faults conditions

A direct Selective current harmonic elimination pulse width modulation technique is proposed for induction motor drive fed from voltage source inverter. The developed adaptive filtering algorithm for the selective current harmonic elimination in a three phase Voltage Source Inverter is a direct method to improve the line current quality of the Voltage Source Inverter base drive at any load condition. The self-adaptive algorithm employed has the capability of managing the time varying nature of load (current). The proposed Normalized Least Mean Squares algorithm based scheme eliminates the selected dominant harmonics in load current using only the knowledge of the frequencies to be eliminated. The algorithm is simulated using Matlab/Simulink tool for a three-phase Voltage Source Inverter to eliminate the fifth and seventh harmonics. The system performance is analyzed based on the simulation results considering total harmonic distortion, magnitude of eliminated harmonics and harmonic spectrum. The corroboration is done in the designed Voltage Source Inverter feeding induction motor using digital signal processor-TMS320L2812.The developed algorithm is transferred to digital signal processor using VisSimTM software.

<p>Generally induction motor drives posses higher harmonic contents in line voltage and current due to high switching frequency used in inverters. Conventional induction motor drives employ two level voltage source inverters which has THD in level of 50%. This paper presents a switched z-source multilevel inverter which has voltage boosting capability and has lesser THD level in comparison with conventional two level voltage source inverters. This drive is fed from a photo voltaic source because of its voltage boosting capability. A single phase five level switched z-source inverter is initially designed and considered as single cell and three such cells are created for powering three phase induction motor. The proposed three cell PV source switched z-source multilevel inverter for three phase induction motor is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink software to verify merits of proposed IM drive</p>

A three-phase voltage source inverter driven induction motor dynamic model developed using Simulink / MATLAB is presented. The presented model is derived from the d-q motor model. A modular approach is used in the construction of the motor-drive system model. The model presented is useful for studying both the steady-state and transient behavior of the motor drive system. The developed model enables the user to access all parameters of interest. Modifications can be made to the system model in order for it to be used with other motor drive system topologies. The model has benefits for use by undergraduate student researchers, and professors when used as a teaching tool in undergraduate courses.
