Typical applications for post-installed rebar connections consist in overlapping joints with existing reinforcement or anchoring of the reinforcement at a slab or beam support. At cold state it may be shown by testing that a post-installed rebar system can develop the same bond resistance with the same safety margin as cast-in-place rebar. Consequently, anchorage length and lap length for post-installed rebars can be calculated as for cast-in-place according to the Eurocode 2 provisions. However, when subjected to temperature, the decay in bond properties for post-installed systems is significantly more dramatic than for cast-in-place rebars. The paper presents the result of an experimental campaign carried out on a post-installed connection using a vinylester polymer, investigating the effects on the bond strength both of the temperature and of different testing conditions. Finally, design criteria are provided and applied to a typical case study consisting in a post-installed solid slab.

The challenges encountered in building the InternationalChildren’s Digital Library (ICDL), a freely availableonline library of children’s literature are described. Thesechallenges include selecting and processing books fromdifferent countries, handling and presenting multiplelanguages simultaneously, and addressing cultural differences. Unlike other digital libraries that present content from one or a few languages and cultures, and focuson either adult or child audiences, ICDL must serve amultilingual, multicultural, multigenerational audience. The research is presented as a case study for addressingthese design criteria; current solutions and plans forfuture work are described.

This research is motivated by the increasing variety of activities that can be done while in the park. The diversity of activities is what then raises the tendency of visitors to choose the design and layout of comfortable seating to support activities while in the park. This study aims to determine the factors and impacts that are felt by visitors related to the comfort of the park seating facilities in general and find out what visitors need related to park seating facilities. Research subjects were park visitors without age restrictions or other categorizations. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, namely by making observations and direct and in-depth observations of the park used as a case study in this study. The data obtained is then processed and analyzed. The results of the analysis are then carried out the final validation test in the study to ensure compatibility of observations and observations with the validation test that has been done. The results of the study were in the form of design criteria and good and comfortable seating facilities for park visitors.

In this chapter are developed some considerations about the heuristic potentialities of parametric digital modeling as a tool for analyzing and interpreting architectural heritage. Observed that the parametric thinking in architecture could be recognized almost from the origin, new parametric modeling software allows to verify the design criteria of the past. On the basis of previous studies on Baroque vaulted atria, this chapter develops, using parametric modeling tools, a real vocabulary of shapes and their possible combinations, suggested by the architectural literature of the time and the survey of about seventy atria in Turin. This method has been tested on the case study of the lunettes dome in the atrium of Palazzo Carignano.
