One of the two most determining factors in the teaching-learning process is teacher. Teacher backgrounds which affect the teaching-learning process cover wide aspects to include creativity. This paper reports a study to describe teachers’ creativity in developing the speaking skills of their students in Junior High Schools in Yogyakarta. The study belongs to qualitative research which data were collected from observation and interviews to four teachers selected from all English teachers in Yogyakarta teaching in both private and public schools based on their creativity in developing speaking skills. The observations were backed up with video-recording to catch detailed teacher-students interaction based on which the phenomenon understudy can be described. Follow-up interviews with teachers and students were conducted to help her in-depth understanding of the nature of creativity of the teachers, and thus triangulate the data for the study. Findings show that teachers’ creativity was exercised in encouraging students, questioning and teacher praising, using the learning material, developing learning activities, and Internet and Communication Technology. Further analysis found the teachers’ creativity was also employed in giving positive feedback and response, understanding students, mistake, and clear questions.

This study deals with developing the writing paragraph through quickwriting for junior high school at smp swasta pahlawan nasional. The objectives of this study were to find out to improve the students’ ability in writing paragraph of grade VIII students by using quickwriting strategy. Data data of the research was taken from the secondary grade of Junior High School Students at SMP Swasta Pahlawan Nasional Medan, which is taken from one class, contain 33 student. The data in this research collected by using interview and questionnaire. The interview and questionnaire will be given to collect the students’ need, problem and interesting in learning English, particularly in writing and using quick writing in teaching and learning.  In the teaching-learning process the teacher should prepare before conducting the lesson. The first is classroom procedures in teaching-learning process. Classroom procedures used by English teacher are opening, quickwriting, main activities (exploration-elaboration-confirmation), closing. There are some problems faced in the teaching-learning process. The problems faced are problem in developing idea, organizing idea, difficulties in vocabulary, tenses, and grammar, different capability of the students, and limited time. The consequently, the teacher should give solutions to cope the problems faced in teaching-learning process. So, the teacher should be creative to minimize the problem faced in teaching-learning process in order to make the students enjoy with the materials and develop student’s ability. Keywords : writing paragraph, quickwriting

The aims of this research are to produce SETS worksheet that can be applied in teaching learning to grow and process skills and scientific attitude for students in Junior High Shcool. The study was a Research and Development (R D ) with students in class VIII SMP N 1 Sewon Bantul as a subject of study. The reseach start form July to November 2015. The study began with a literatature study and field study to obtain information about the problem faced at school, and followed by planning, drafting and validating product by experts. The result shows that SETS worksheet feasible to use in teaching and learning based on the validation result from lecturer, teacher and student response. The SETS Worksheet potential for growing the student's process skills and the scientific attitudeAbstract english version, written using Time New Roman-11, italic. Abstract contain research aim/purpose, method, and reseach results; written in 1 paragraph, single space among rows, using past tense sentences.

The objective of the study is to explore on how Sundanese local wisdoms are implemented in civic studies in reinforcing students’ characters in SMP Negeri 3 Purwakarta (Junior high school). Qualitative approach is employed in this study by conducting case study as a method of data gathering. The results of the study indicate that the learning process has been implemented ordinarily through the seven-day at school program. Despite the fact that local wisdoms are not specifically embedded into the syllabus, the local wisdoms are integrated in the daily learning process. In practice, teachers are expected to be able to give insights to their students relted to the Sundanese local wisdom. The implementation is carried out in forms of: 1) Civic studies classes; 2) extracuricullar activities; 3) having meals together, and so on. Those activities are considered as a leading way to reinforce the students’ character.

This research aimed to find out the student ability in speaking at students at Junior High School 2 Panca Rijang and this study is the result of a report from a case study on the effect of metacognitive teaching on speaking ability of low-ranking junior high school students, the metacognitive strategy influences students' speaking achievement, namely by conducting a pre-test in one group and the design of the post-test was conducted to support the findings in the results of learning speaking after training. In design, observation and qualitative questionnaires were conducted to see the process of students in learning speaking procedural knowledge of metacognition in speaking. This research applying metacognitive strategies that are developed as a way of learning. Subject, selected by simple random sampling, are 20 first grade junior high schools, Comparison of pre-test and post-test scores will show metacognitive strategy can help students who are less skilled improve their speaking skills. The results show the view that metacognitive strategy can help students with speaking skills who are less skilled improve their speaking skills, but from the overall results there still appear to be some limitations for those who are skilled with minimal results.

Teaching writing to junior high school students is absolutely a challenging job for English teacher in Indonesia, it also happened in a junior high school in Jombang. The researchers found that both teacher and students got problem in writing process because of the students’ low ability in writing and monotonous writing teaching technique used by the teacher. This research used a Classroom Action Research design to solve the problem by using Make a match teaching technique. Make a match is considered to be one of cooperative learning method which has some benefits in teaching learning process. The result of data analysis indicates that Make a match bring benefits to improve students’ writing and class participation.

The internalization of character education in science learning through a variety of learning media has been researched recently, one of which is through the photonovela media which is the medium of insertion of character values in learning material. The focus of this research is; 1) developing photonovela learning media with character education on work material and energy, 2) knowing photonovela media feasibility as a supplement to physics learning with character education on work material and energy 3) knowing the response of students to photonovela media with character education in an energy material. This research is a Research and Development study adopted the development of Borg and Gall with the subject of junior high school students. The research instruments used were questionnaires by material experts, media experts, and junior high school physics teachers and questionnaires for students' responses in the three schools. The results of the assessment by material experts obtained a percentage of 85%, the assessment of media experts was 90%, and the assessment of junior high school teachers was 84.16%, while the response of students in three junior high schools was 87.6%, 94%, and 93.6%. In conclusion, this study produced a product in the form of appropriate photonovela media as a supplement to physics learning with character education on business material and energy

Menulis teks hasil observasi sebagai salah satu materi yang harus dikuasai oleh peserta didik sesuai dengan kurikulum 2013. Permasalahan yang terjadi pada proses pembelajaran adalah pembelajaran yang kurang menimbulkan antusias belajar peserta didik. Media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu yang mempengaruhi pembelajaran efektif karena menumbuhkan antusias belajar siswa. Setelah mempelajari media pembelajaran yang sudah ada, ditemukan fakta bahwa media pembelajaran masih sederhana dan belum interaktif. Relevan dengan situasi tersebut, diperlukan media pembelajaran untuk menulis teks hasil observasi yang interaktif bermuatan konservasi yang sesuai bagi peserta didik kelas VII SMP, baik dari segi kelayakan isi, penyajian, dan bahasa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (penelitian dan pengembangan) dari Borg dan Gall (2003:570). Media pembelajaran interaktif ini terdiri dari empat menu yaitu permainan, kompetensi inti dan kompetensi dasar, materi, dan soal. Media pembelajaran interaktif dalam pembelajaran menulis teks hasil observasi bermuatan konservasi untuk siswa SMP kelas VII dinyatakan valid oleh ahli dan praktisi dengan skor rata-rata 3 (tiga) yang dikategorikan baik. Hasil uji keefektifan media pembelajaran interaktif dalam pembelajaran menulis teks hasil observasi bermuatan konservasi untuk siswa SMP kelas VII menyatakan media permainan interaktif ini efektif dengan bukti data uji t yang menyatakan adanya perbedaan signifikan hasil pretes dan postes. Kata Kunci: konservasi; media pembelajaran interaktif; peseta didik; teks hasil observasi   Abstract Writing an observation report is one of materials in the 2013 curriculum and it needs to be mastered by students. Meanwhile, the most frequent problem which arises during learning process is learning which does not trigger students’ enthusiasm. Interactive learning media can create an effective learning process since the media can trigger students’ enthusiasm. After studying about available learning media, it is found a fact that the learning media are still not sophisticated and interactive.  Based on that situation, an interactive learning media to write an observation report is needed for seventh grade of junior high school students. The researcher emphasizes on the content, delivery, and language of the media. The method used in this research is Research and Development by Borg dan Gall (2003:570). This interactive learning media consists of four menus, namely games, core competencies and basic competencies, materials, and exercises. This interactive learning media used to write a conservative observation report for junior high school students is valid according to experts and practitioners. It has an average score of three (3) which is categorized as good. The effectiveness test of interactive learning media used to write conservative observation reports for seventh grade of junior high school students shows that this media is effective. The scientific approach constitutes an approach to Indonesia's 2013 curriculum. Since it is imperative for Indonesian education, all teachers need to understand, manage, and apply it in the teaching-learning process. Unfortunately, many English teachers still use inappropriate methods as in the 2013 curriculum. This qualitative research aims at discovering the implementation of a scientific approach by English teachers at State Senior High School in Lhokseumawe. The objects were English teachers at SMAN 1 Lhokseumawe, SMAN 2 Lhokseumawe, and SMAN 5 Lhokseumawe. The tools used in this study were observation for three high school English teachers in the schools. The observation results toward the implementation of five scientific approach stages exposed that the English teachers did not carry out the five stages completely. The teacher should master, understand, and apply the teaching process by following the whole stages of the scientific approach. Class mastery and time management are vital for the learning process. Thus, the teachers should consider those points. Hence, interesting supporting media, appropriate learning material, and methods must be considered by the teachers in teaching so that the students will be motivated to learn.
