Aim: To review the role of Health Related Quality of Life (HRQL) assessments in the management of patients with venous ulceration. Method: A search of electronic databases and reference lists delivered numerous articles containing a variety of HRQL assessments for venous ulcer treatment. Synthesis: The salient points from the literature were collaborated in order to establish which outcome measures best reflect the quality of care delivered. The treatment of chronic venous leg ulceration is often prolonged and a permanent cure is frequently unattainable. An improvement in a patient's condition needs to be demonstrated in order to determine the benefit of a surgical treatment. The assessment of HRQL is increasingly recognised as a valuable surgical outcome measurement. Conclusion: The combination of ‘standard’ clinical outcome measures, the generic SF-36 and a specific ‘venous ulcer’ HRQL questionnaire can produce a more complete treatment outcome assessment in patients with venous ulceration.

Skin ulcers are a common complication of systemic sclerosis (SSc) that can significantly impact the quality of life. There have been recent reports on the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2T) in the management of nonhealing systemic sclerosis skin ulcers. The effect of HBO2T on pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), another common and potentially life-threatening complication of SSc, is unclear with literature on the subject lacking. We present the case of a 65-year-old female with limited SSc complicated by severe PAH and a nonhealing left lower extremity venous ulcer. HBO2T was successfully used as an adjunct in her management resulting in complete resolution of the venous ulcer and improved quality of life without any adverse effects on her pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Varicose ulcer are the wound caused due to improper functioning of venous valve. Venous ulcer develop mostly along the medial distal leg can be painful, can bleed & get infected with negative effect on quality of life .When valve gets damaged,it prevents the backflow of the blood, increases local venous pressure &which turns into venous ulcer. After conservative & surgical treatment ,recurrence of venous ulcer is common ranging about 54-78% by the 5th year after wound healing. In Ayurveda varicose vein correlated with Sirajanyadushtyavrana.Acharya Sushruta more scientifically described wound & its management with help of these specific Ayurvedic adjuvant therapies this kind of ulcer may be treated. A 45 yrs male patient diagnosed with varicose ulcer daily dressing done with Unprocessed Haridra,Ghruta& Madhu for 5weeks.The symptom like Pain, Ankle flare, Discharge, Hyperpigmentation,Size of ulcer & Granulation tissue were assessed. Trial showed that unprocessed Haridra,Ghruta,Madhu is effective in the management varicose ulcer. Hence this study conclude Ancient Management is safe, easily available , devoid Complication & Hence better Acceptability.

This research review is endeavoring to shed the light on the cause and effect of Chronic Venous Ulcer (CVU) in line with its therapeutic procedures. In the last two decades, a lot of the changes occurred in strategy of wound management through developing adjunctive therapy that supported wound healing. Eventually, the latest development was in platelet concentration technology produced the platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). It was categorized as the 2nd generation of platelet concentration family after Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Considering that Venous Leg Ulcers (VLUs) accounted for 70% of all leg ulcers and estimated one percent of the population where age as an essential factor has increased its prevalence. The chronicity and refractory nature of venous ulcer had a great effect on the quality of life and work productivity of patients apart from, the expenditure of significant amount of medical resources and efforts. Therefore, the ultimate goal of (VLU) management was to induce a rapid healing without recurrence which mainly helped to improve the quality of life (QoL). The first therapeutic procedure used in treatment of VLU was compression therapy where the application of effective graduated compression decreased the overload in venous system and venous reflux. Furthermore, it accelerated the capillary of blood flow and decreased the capillary of fluid leakage which in return alleviated the limb edema.

This review concentrates on the investigation of the patient with venous ulceration with a view to presenting current best practice. The aim is to maximize benefit for patients and their medical team by directing appropriate investigation leading to optimized results in the treatment of this highly prevalent, quality of life reducing and socioeconomically costly condition.
