We are interested in studying moduli spaces of rank 2 logarithmic connections on elliptic curves having two poles. To do so, we investigate certain logarithmic rank 2 connections defined on the Riemann sphere and a transformation rule to lift such connections to an elliptic curve. The transformation is as follows: given an elliptic curve C with elliptic quotient, and the logarithmic connection, we may pullback the connection to the elliptic curve to obtain a new connection on C. After suitable birational modifications we bring the connection to a particular normal form. The whole transformation is equivariant with respect to bundle automorphisms and therefore defines a map between the corresponding moduli spaces of connections. The aim of this paper is to describe the moduli spaces involved and compute explicit expressions for the above map in the case where the target space is the moduli space of rank 2 logarithmic connections on an elliptic curve C with two simple poles and trivial determinant.

Abstract Let C be a hyperelliptic curve of genus $g \geq 3$ . In this paper, we give a new geometric description of the theta map for moduli spaces of rank 2 semistable vector bundles on C with trivial determinant. In order to do this, we describe a fibration of (a birational model of) the moduli space, whose fibers are GIT quotients $(\mathbb {P}^1)^{2g}//\text {PGL(2)}$ . Then, we identify the restriction of the theta map to these GIT quotients with some explicit degree 2 osculating projection. As a corollary of this construction, we obtain a birational inclusion of a fibration in Kummer $(g-1)$ -varieties over $\mathbb {P}^g$ inside the ramification locus of the theta map.

We prove that the moduli space of the pseudo holomorphic curves in the A-model on a symplectic torus is homeomorphic to a moduli space of Feynman diagrams in the configuration space of the morphisms in the B-model on the corresponding elliptic curve. These moduli spaces determine the A∞ structure of the both models.

In this paper, we apply the technique of chamber structures of stability polarizations to construct the full moduli space of rank-2 stable sheaves with certain Chern classes on Calabi–Yau manifolds which are anti-canonical divisor of ℙ1×ℙn or a double cover of ℙ1×ℙn. These moduli spaces are isomorphic to projective spaces. As an application, we compute the holomorphic Casson invariants defined by Donaldson and Thomas.

AbstractModuli spaces of stable parabolic bundles of parabolic degree 0 over the Riemann sphere are stratified according to the Harder–Narasimhan filtration of underlying vector bundles. Over a Zariski open subset $$\mathscr {N}_{0}$$ N 0 of the open stratum depending explicitly on a choice of parabolic weights, a real-valued function $$\mathscr {S}$$ S is defined as the regularized critical value of the non-compact Wess–Zumino–Novikov–Witten action functional. The definition of $$\mathscr {S}$$ S depends on a suitable notion of parabolic bundle ‘uniformization map’ following from the Mehta–Seshadri and Birkhoff–Grothendieck theorems. It is shown that $$-\mathscr {S}$$ - S is a primitive for a (1,0)-form $$\vartheta $$ ϑ on $$\mathscr {N}_{0}$$ N 0 associated with the uniformization data of each intrinsic irreducible unitary logarithmic connection. Moreover, it is proved that $$-\mathscr {S}$$ - S is a Kähler potential for $$(\Omega -\Omega _{\mathrm {T}})|_{\mathscr {N}_{0}}$$ ( Ω - Ω T ) | N 0 , where $$\Omega $$ Ω is the Narasimhan–Atiyah–Bott Kähler form in $$\mathscr {N}$$ N and $$\Omega _{\mathrm {T}}$$ Ω T is a certain linear combination of tautological (1, 1)-forms associated with the marked points. These results provide an explicit relation between the cohomology class $$[\Omega ]$$ [ Ω ] and tautological classes, which holds globally over certain open chambers of parabolic weights where $$\mathscr {N}_{0} = \mathscr {N}$$ N 0 = N .

Let C be a smooth projective complex curve of genus g≥2 and let M be the moduli space of rank 2, stable vector bundles on C, with fixed determinant of degree 1. For any k≥1, we find all the irreducible components of the space of rational curves on M, of degree k. In particular, we find the maximal rationally connected fibrations of these components. We prove that there is a one-to-one correspondence between moduli spaces of rational curves on M and moduli spaces of rank 2 vector bundles on ℙ1×C.

This chapter considers the moduli space of rank 2 Higgs bundles with fixed determinant over a smooth projective curve X of genus 2 over ℂ, and studies involutions defined by tensoring the vector bundle with an element α‎ of order 2 in the Jacobian of the curve, combined with multiplication of the Higgs field by ±1. It describes the fixed points of these involutions in terms of the Prym variety of the covering of X defined by α‎, and gives an interpretation in terms of the moduli space of representations of the fundamental group.

We classify orbifold geometries which can be interpreted as moduli spaces of four-dimensional \mathcal{N}\geq 3𝒩≥3 superconformal field theories up to rank 2 (complex dimension 6). The large majority of the geometries we find correspond to moduli spaces of known theories or discretely gauged version of them. Remarkably, we find 6 geometries which are not realized by any known theory, of which 3 have an \mathcal{N}=2𝒩=2 Coulomb branch slice with a non-freely generated coordinate ring, suggesting the existence of new, exotic \mathcal{N}=3𝒩=3 theories.

AbstractLocal normal form theorems for smooth equivariant maps between infinite-dimensional manifolds are established. These normal form results are new even in finite dimensions. The proof is inspired by the Lyapunov–Schmidt reduction for dynamical systems and by the Kuranishi method for moduli spaces. It uses a slice theorem for Fréchet manifolds as the main technical tool. As a consequence, the abstract moduli space obtained by factorizing a level set of the equivariant map with respect to the group action carries the structure of a Kuranishi space, i.e., such moduli spaces are locally modeled on the quotient by a compact group of the zero set of a smooth map. The general results are applied to the moduli space of anti-self-dual instantons, the Seiberg–Witten moduli space and the moduli space of pseudoholomorphic curves.

Within the framework of complex supergeometry and motivated by two-dimensional genus-zero holomorphic N = 2 superconformal field theory, we define the moduli space of N = 2 super-Riemann spheres with oriented and ordered half-infinite tubes (or equivalently, oriented and ordered punctures, and local superconformal coordinates vanishing at the punctures), modulo N = 2 superconformal equivalence. We develop a formal theory of infinitesimal N = 2 superconformal transformations based on a representation of the N = 2 Neveu–Schwarz algebra in terms of superderivations. In particular, via these infinitesimals we present the Lie supergroup of N = 2 superprojective transformations of the N = 2 super-Riemann sphere. We give a reformulation of the moduli space in terms of these infinitesimals. We introduce generalized N = 2 super-Riemann spheres with tubes and discuss some group structures associated to certain moduli spaces of both generalized and non-generalized N = 2 super-Riemann spheres. We define an action of the symmetric groups on the moduli space. Lastly we discuss the nonhomogeneous (versus homogeneous) coordinate system associated to N = 2 superconformal structures and the corresponding results in this coordinate system.

Abstract For $G = \mathrm {GL}_2, \mathrm {SL}_2, \mathrm {PGL}_2$ we compute the intersection E-polynomials and the intersection Poincaré polynomials of the G-character variety of a compact Riemann surface C and of the moduli space of G-Higgs bundles on C of degree zero. We derive several results concerning the P=W conjectures for these singular moduli spaces.
