The family Ismaridae Thomson, 1858 is reported from the Afrotropical region for the first time. A total of 15 species are recognised, 14 of which are described as new: Ismarusafricanussp. n. from Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa; I.apertussp. n. from Kenya; I.bicolorsp. n. from Cameroon, Kenya; I.goodrichisp. n. from Kenya; I.kakamegensissp. n. from Kenya; I.kenyensissp. n. from Kenya; I.laevigatussp. n. from South Africa; I.madagascariensissp. n. from Madagascar; I.minutussp. n. from Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe; I.nigrofasciatussp. n. from Malawi, Uganda; I.notaulicussp. n. from Kenya; I.rawlinsisp. n. from Kenya, Malawi; I.steinerisp. n. from Madagascar; I.watshamisp. n. from Botswana, Malawi, South Africa, Zimbabwe. Ismarushalidayi Förster is reported for continental Africa from South Africa (new record). We provide an identification key to all species in Afrotropical region.

Six new species of Docosia Winnertz are described from Central Asia and their terminalia illustrated, viz. Docosia bartaki sp. nov. (Uzbekistan), D. blagoderovi sp. nov. (Uzbekistan), D. chimganica sp. nov. (Uzbekistan), D. distributa sp. nov. (Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan), D. koyentagi sp. nov. (Turkmenistan) and D. turkmenica sp. nov. (Turkmenistan). A new record of D. selini Kurina from Uzbekistan and a key to Docosia species in Central Asia are provided. The number of Docosia species in Central Asia now totals 10. Docosia gilvipes (Haliday in Walker) is newly found in South Africa representing the first record of the genus from the Afrotropical region.

The little-known bee genus Bathanthidium Mavromoustakis, 1953 of the family Megachilidae is reported for the first time from Vietnam. A new species, Bathanthidium (Bathanthidium s. str.) paco Tran & Nguyen, sp. nov. from Hoa Binh province is described and illustrated. A nest of the new species is reported from a wooden house. An updated identification key to all known species of the subgenus Bathanthidium s. str. is also provided.

The family Caliscelidae is revised and listed in the Afrotropical Region and is recorded from Madagascar for the first time. Signoreta victorina gen. et sp. n., Calampocus sphaeroides gen. et sp. n., Patamadaga pauliani gen. et sp. n., Sphenax cuneus gen. et sp. n., Afronaso gryphus sp. n. and A. malagasicus sp. n. are described from Madagascar. Rhinoploeus iwa gen. et sp. n. is described from Zambia and Caliscelis swazi sp. n. from Republic of South Africa and Swaziland. Nubianus gen. n. is erected for Issopulex nasutus Linnavuori, 1973. Issopulex chloe Linnavuori, 1973 is transfered to the genus Savanopulex Dlabola and Caliscelis eximia Stål, 1859 to the genus Chirodisca Emeljanov. Afronaso rhinarius cuneiceps Fennah, 1957 is upgraded to species level. Populonia curculioforma Dlabola, 1987 is placed in synonymy under A. rhinarius cuneiceps, Populonia hammersteini Schmidt, 1932 under Homaloplasis curvata Melichar, 1908, Ugandana fennahi Dlabola, 1987 under Afronaso bayoni Schmidt, 1911, and Caliscelis dreyfus Fernando, 1957 under Caliscelis eximia Stål, 1859. New faunistic records are proposed. The possible Gondwanan origin and monophyly of the Caliscelidae are briefly discussed.

The genus Astichus Förster (Eulophidae: Entiinae) is recorded for the first time from sub-Saharan Africa and four newspecies are described from South Africa: A. micans n. sp., A. silvani n. sp., A. gracilis n. sp. and A. naiadis n. sp. .Astichusspecies are known as parasitoids of Ciidae (Coleoptera) tunnelling and living in bracket fungi. The South African speciesemerged together with Ciidae from a variety of bracket fungi from many localities in the region. They are easily separatedfrom known Astichus species from other regions in the world by their distinctive colour and patterning. A key to the SouthAfrican Astichus species, distribution maps, and notes on biology are included, as well as identifications of Ciidae and bracket fungus specimens encountered in the study.

A new genus and species of termitophilous pygmephorid mites, Pseudoluciaphorus tuberosus gen. nov. and sp. nov. (Acari: Prostigmata: Pygmephoridae), associated with termites, Microcerotermes parvus (Haviland) (Isoptera: Termitidae) are described from South Africa. Luciaphorus perniciosus Rack is recorded from Africa for the first time. Images of phoretic females of L. perniciosus phoretic on workers and soldiers of Microcerotermes parvus are provided.

A new species of Placospongia is described from Bahia State, Brazil. Placospongia giseleae sp. nov.. The specimen is found on the underside of rocks in shallow waters (0-20m), and is unique by having a spiculation consisting of two tylostyle categories, selenasters and acanthomicrorhabds. In addition, Placospongia ruetzleri, is recorded for the first time to Bahia state, 2.974 km southwards from its type locality, the Guyana shelf. The diversity of Placospongia species is raised from two to four taxa. An identification key for Western Atlantic Placospongia species is presented.

An updated revision of Afrotropical Dryinidae is presented. Nine subfamilies, 23 genera and 430 species (including 60 new species) are treated. Six new species-level synonymies and three new combinations are proposed. Descriptions, geographic distribution, known hosts, natural enemies and type material of each species are presented, together with illustrations of the main morphological characters and keys to the subfamilies, genera and species. Mites of the family Athyreacaridae are recorded from Asia for the first time. Two new species of Athyreacarus are described, A. indicus sp. nov., collected on the beetles Bolbohamatum laevicolle and B. marginale in India, and A. brevisetosus sp. nov., collected on a beetle Bolboceras sp. in Sri Lanka. An updated key to species of the genus Athyreacarus is provided.

Two new species of the genus Paragus Latreille, 1804 are described from the Republic of South Africa: Paragus longipilus Tot, Vujić et Radenković sp. nov. and Paragus megacercus Tot, Vujić et Radenković sp. nov. These new species belong to the subgenus Pandasyopthalmus Stuckenberg, 1954a. Paragus longipilus sp. nov. is a member of the P. jozanus group, whereas Paragus megacercus sp. nov. belongs to the P. tibialis group. The taxonomic status of Paragus chalybeatus Hull, 1964 is revised and proposed as synonym of Paragus punctatus Hull, 1949. Additionally, an identification key to males of the South African species of Paragus is provided. Results of the present study confirm a significant level of endemism of Paragus in the Afrotropical Region (12 out of 29).

AbstractThree new species of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida), Austrachipteria novazealandica sp. n. (Achipteriidae), Cultroribula otagoensis sp. n. (Astegistidae) and Microlamellarea minuta sp. n. (Lamellareidae), are described from New Zealand. The family Lamellareidae and the genus Microlamellarea are recorded for the first time in the fauna of this country. Austrachipteria novazealandica sp. n. is morphologically most similar to A. bidentata (Hammer, 1967), but differs from the latter by shorter interlamellar and bothridial setae and by posteriorly concave notogaster. Cultroribula otagoensis sp. n. is morphologically most similar to C. bicuspidata Mahunka, 1978, C. castriensis Mahunka, 1985, C. tropica Balogh, 1958 and C. zicsii Balogh & Mahunka, 1981, but differs from all listed species by lamellae being separated medially. Microlamellarea minuta sp. n. differs from two known species of the genus, M. coetzeeae Mahunka & Mahunka-Papp, 2011 and M. engelbrechti Coetzee, 1987, by the presence of minute interlamellar setae, leaf-shaped rostral setae and two pairs of anal setae. An identification key to known species of Microlamellarea is presented. Transfer of the genus Cultroribella from Astegistidae to Lamellareidae is proposed.
