Extant genera and subgenera of the Trogidae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) are reviewed. Contemporary classifications of this family have been based exclusively on morphological characters. The first molecular phylogeny for the family recently provided strong support for the relationships between morphologically defined genera and subgenera. On the basis of morphological, molecular and biogeographical evidence, certain taxonomic changes to the genus-level classification of the family are now proposed. The family is confirmed as consisting of two subfamilies, Omorginae Nikolajev and Troginae MacLeay, the former with two genera,OmorgusErichson andPolynoncusBurmeister, and the latter with two genera,TroxFabricius andPhoberusMacLeaystat. rev.Phoberusis restored to generic rank to include all Afrotropical (including Madagascan endemic) species;Afromorgusis confirmed at subgeneric rank within the genusOmorgus; and the monotypic Madagascan genusMadagatroxsyn. n.is synonymised withPhoberus.The current synonymies ofPseudotroxRobinson (withTrox),ChesasBurmeister,LagopelusBurmeister andMegalotroxPreudhomme de Borre (all withOmorgus) are all accepted to avoid creating speculative synonyms before definitive phylogenetic evidence is available. New combinations resulting from restoringPhoberusto a monophyletic genus are listed in Appendix A.

Pycreus rubidomontanus is described as a new species. It is relatively widespread in tropical West Africa where it had been confused up to present with P. atrorubidus, a very rare endemic species from Zambia in south-central Africa that probably is known only from the type gathering. Differences between these and other similar species are discussed and the new species is copiously illustrated.

Three new species are described and illustrated and their conservation status assessed: Elatostema laevicaule W.T. Wang, A.K. Monro & Y.G. Wei, E. androstachyum W.T. Wang, A.K. Monro & Y.G. Wei and E. heterocladum W.T. Wang, A.K. Monro & Y.G. Wei. All are rare endemic species from Guangxi Province, China, and are only known only from their type localities. E. laevicaule is most similar to E. filipes and is assessed as Vulnerable (VU), E. androstachyum is most similar to E. parvum and is assessed as Vulnerable (VU); E. heterocladum is most similar to both E. androstachyum and E. luxiense and is assessed as Vulnerable (VU).

Oasis Park Fuerteventura is a big amusement park with a zoological and a botanical garden.The latter is described here. In this garden, plants of the Canary Islands are cultivated, including rare endemic species. Plants of different ecosystems like succulent scrub and thermophilous forest are displayed.The garden also hosts many other plants, including tropical tree and shrub species and many different palms, as well as a large succulent plant assemblage with cacti, succulent plants from Madagascar, aloes, yuccas and agaves.

The article provides a review of studies of the vegetation cover of the Western Tien Shan of the NorthEastern slope of the Kurama ridge of the Parkent district (the left bank of Parkentsai) with the participation of the rare endemic species Juno orchioides. The article presents the main results of work in the field of geobotany and botanical geography carried out in the Tashkent region. A list of plants of 4 communities of the herb-shrub association with the participation of the species Juno orchioides is given. The association contains more than 90 species of plants. Of these, trees – 10, shrubs – 9, perennials – 71, annuals – 8. Anthropogenic factors and grazing are the reason for the decrease in this species of Juno orchioides, and in the future, measures for reintroduction must be applied to preserve and restore this species.
