Cloud systems could help companies to optimize the structure and operation of supply chain and improve organizational performance into a higher level. In this chapter, the advantages and basic operation methods of cloud computing are analyzed, and the essential factors that contribute to the success of the cloud system are evaluated through some business examples. Supply chain firms rely on cloud system to share resources and to achieve integration through the Internet. Cloud systems could transform customer relationship and internal operation to achieve sustainable competitive advantages. Cloud services are providing the ability to share information to the supply chain at any time anywhere. This chapter explores the relationship between supply chain organization and cloud computing. This chapter also discusses the benefits and advantage to evaluate of cloud system in successful factors.

This chapter demonstrates an approach for assessment of the success of cloud systems usage in innovation on the basis of system abilities to differentiate between the various knowledge characteristics required for the innovation. The chapter also discusses the various success factors of cloud system for global innovation. The aim of this research is to demonstrate how cloud computing impacts in an organisation. This research also identifies the contributions of cloud computing to a modern organisation. Furthermore, several challenges which providers of Cloud System services are facing are presented. Problems in the process of implementation of cloud computing are found out which need to be settled in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organisational innovation.

Advances in computing technologies have presented the management of supply chain firms with opportunities to enhance the competitive advantages of their organisations. Some of those opportunities arise from the deployment of modern systems that encompass the three most important components in supply chains management: namely, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, and e-commerce. The current technology available in cloud systems appears to satisfy the needs of supply chain firms for managing resource planning, customer relationship, and e-commerce simultaneously. The main purpose of this chapter is to alert supply chain firms to the risks that they could face if their cloud system implementation is not carefully managed or if not appropriately selected and supported. The proposed investment strategies could assist supply chain firms in ensuring that their cloud system activities are positioned to assist and sustain their competitive advantages.

This paper presents a research framework for studying supply chain excellence, emphasizing two distinct paths of knowledge acquisition, that is qualitative inquiry through interviews with senior supply chain executives in Taiwan and quantitative inquiry through data collection from companies that operate in Taiwan. Four factors are considered as the antecedents of supply chain excellence, such as collaboration, organizational conditions, technology adoption, and operations. The authors use the grounded theory approach to further understand those four critical factors and relevant concepts. Organizational condition was ranked by our senior supply chain executives as the most important factor based on this qualitative investigation. The effect of four critical factors on organizational performance is also assessed through regression analyses, and the results help supply chain professionals in Taiwan determine which factors and concepts of supply chain management to focus on to improve business performance. Although these findings are situation-dependent, the proposed framework is different from existing literature and can be adopted in other international studies to enhance the body of knowledge on supply chain management.

Organizational implementing supply chain management (SCM) has obtained improved performance. Cost savings, increased revenues and the reduction of defects in products are some of the main advantages of introducing dairy supply chain management. These are also mentioned as long-term goals of the supply chain. Business profitability is closely associated with market and business shares. Based on the long-term goals of the SCM, the organizational performance measures are identified as financial and market performance and customer satisfaction. In the context of SCM, the financial and market performance factor is operational zed in terms of market share, return of total assets, annuals sales growth (Tan et al, 1999).The research paper attempts to find out the relationship between the dairy supply chain management (DSCM) practices and organizational performance. Various practices of DSCM through extensive literature review is taken into account i.e. Information and Communication Technology Practices, Supplier Relationship Practices, Supply Chain Manufacturing Practices, Inventory management system, Warehousing Management System, Transportation Management System, Customer Relationship Management for establishing the relationship with organizational performance. The aim of this study is to recommend these findings to companies which are still at the infancy stage when it comes to dairy supply chain management and integration with customers and suppliers.

To better understand task failures in cloud computing systems, the authors analyze failure frequency of tasks based on Google cluster dataset, and find some frequently failing tasks that suffer from long-term failures and repeated rescheduling, which are called killer tasks as they can be a big concern of cloud systems. Hence there is a need to analyze killer tasks thoroughly and recognize them precisely. In this article, the authors first investigate resource usage pattern of killer tasks and analyze rescheduling strategies of killer tasks in Google cluster to find that repeated rescheduling causes large amount of resource wasting. Based on the above observations, they then propose an online killer task recognition service to recognize killer tasks at the very early stage of their occurrence so as to avoid unnecessary resource wasting. The experiment results show that the proposed service performs a 93.6% accuracy in recognizing killer tasks with an 87% timing advance and 86.6% resource saving for the cloud system averagely.

Cloud computing systems offer an attractive alternative to traditional IT-systems, because of economic benefits that arise from the cloud's scalable and flexible IT-resources. The benefits are of particular interest for SME's. The reason is that using Cloud Resources allows an SME to focus on its core business rather than on IT-resources. However, numerous concerns about the security of cloud computing services exist. Potential cloud customers have to be confident that the cloud services they acquire are secure for them to use. Therefore, they have to have a clear set of security requirements covering their security needs. Eliciting these requirements is a difficult task, because of the amount of stakeholders and technical components to consider in a cloud environment. Therefore, the authors propose a structured, pattern-based method supporting eliciting security requirements and selecting security measures. The method guides potential cloud customers to model the application of their business case in a cloud computing context using a pattern-based approach. Thus, a potential cloud customer can instantiate our so-called Cloud System Analysis Pattern. Then, the information of the instantiated pattern can be used to fill-out our textual security requirements patterns and individual defined security requirement patterns, as well. The presented method is tool-supported. Our tool supports the instantiation of the cloud system analysis pattern and automatically transfers the information from the instance to the security requirements patterns. In addition, they have validation conditions that check e.g., if a security requirement refers to at least one element in the cloud. The authors illustrate their method using an online-banking system as running example.
