Hardware Implementations of Image/Video Watermarking Algorithms

Digital watermarking is a process in which a secondary pattern or signature, called a watermark, is hidden into a digital media (e.g., image and video) such that it can be detected or extracted later for different intentions. Digital watermarking has many applications including copyright protection, authentication, tamper detection, and embedding of electronic patient records in medical images. Various software implementations of digital watermarking algorithms can be built. While software implementations can address digital watermarking in off-line applications, they cannot meet the requirements of many applications. For example, in consumer electronic devices, a software solution would be very expensive. This has motivated the development of hardware implementations of digital watermarking. In this chapter, the authors present a detailed survey of existing hardware implementations of image and video watermarking algorithms. Fundamental design issues are discussed and special techniques exploited to enhance efficiency are identified. Future outlooks are also presented to address the challenges of hardware architecture design for image and video watermarking.

Patients with Long-Term Conditions (LTCs) account for around 50% of General Practitioner (GP) appointments, 64% of outpatient appointments and 70% of hospital bed days. There needs to be a wider access to knowledge and understanding such as directories with information leaflets, documents, books on lifestyle, helpful contacts and sources to information that can support patients and the general public on the most important elements their health. This cannot be achieved just through patients accessing their health records in sole. The objective of this paper is to 1) highlight the importance of integrating General Practice (GP), Electronic Patient Records (EPR) with Library Services (LS) and 2) also explore why it would be advantageous to implement patient-centred Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings in primary care for patients with Long-Term Conditions (LTCs). This article provides a UK glance and how primary care services can be improved, integrating for the better. Having access to Electronic Patient Records (EPR) alone will not help or encourage a patient to gain confidence and/ or understanding especially if patients are overwhelmed by their healthcare choices and Health Literacy (HL) complexities. Patients' whose first language is not English for example, approaching more methods to support HL is/ will be challenging. Library and Health Services partnerships should be initiated to allowing access to wider resources. In addition, patient-centred Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings should be arranged at dedicated time points between a doctor and patient/ carer and these can take place in a private section within library setting involving wider participation in care plans. Given that more patients and the public will have opportunity to access their health records, a “Libraries and Health” partnership can help integrate primary healthcare better thus allowing all to access health-related literature, using books, leaflets and digital media in a comfortable environment in a setting that also has staff that can support with HL and technology. An EPR and MDT initiative should be supported with library and health partnerships; this needs to be encouraged.

In this paper a new novel color video watermarking algorithm has been proposed using Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DTCWT). Digital watermarking is an emerging technology for copyright protection for digital multimedia data. Now-a-days a lot of digital data are exchanged in the internet, so to protect the digital multimedia data, digital watermarking is used, the data may be an image or video or an audio data. The main objective of this paper is to maintain perceptivity of digital video and design a robust watermarking algorithm and maintaining the tradeoff between robustness and perceptivity.

While many techniques have been proposed for digital color and grayscale images, not all of them can be directly applied to binary images in general and document images in particular. The difficulty lies in the fact that changing pixel values in a binary image could introduce irregularities that are very visually noticeable. Over the last few years, we have seen a growing but limited number of papers proposing new techniques and ideas for binary image watermarking and data hiding. In this chapter we present an overview and summary of recent developments on this important topic, and discuss important issues such as robustness and data hiding capacity of the different techniques.

With the ceaseless usage of web and other online services, it has turned out that copying, sharing, and transmitting digital media over the Internet are amazingly simple. Since the text is one of the main available data sources and most widely used digital media on the Internet, the significant part of websites, books, articles, daily papers, and so on is just the plain text. Therefore, copyrights protection of plain texts is still a remaining issue that must be improved in order to provide proof of ownership and obtain the desired accuracy. During the last decade, digital watermarking and steganography techniques have been used as alternatives to prevent tampering, distortion, and media forgery and also to protect both copyright and authentication. This paper presents a comparative analysis of information hiding techniques, especially on those ones which are focused on modifying the structure and content of digital texts. Herein, various text watermarking and text steganography techniques characteristics are highlighted along with their applications. In addition, various types of attacks are described and their effects are analyzed in order to highlight the advantages and weaknesses of current techniques. Finally, some guidelines and directions are suggested for future works.

Digital watermarking is a technique developed to help copyright protection of Image, audio & video files. It has been spurred by the growth of the Internet, and the ease of copying. This has led to an unprecedented numbers in copyright infringements. The digital audio & video watermarking is concerned with embedding data in a signal the watermark data can be accurately detected. Watermarking algorithm based on Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) is introduced. The signal is divided into frames and each one is decomposed adaptively by Empirical Mode Decomposition into intrinsic oscillatory components. The data embedding rate of EMD algorithm is 46.9-50.3 b/s; the robustness of hidden watermark is identified using Mp3 compression, additive noise, and quantization, cropping, filtering and resampling.
