The quality of the healthcare system is a significant contributor to a nation's economy. Technological developments in the internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, and wireless body area networks (WBAN) and their interaction have given a boost to healthcare as an application domain which seems to be very promising to improve the quality of health care. Long-range and ubiquitous deployment needs of healthcare can be very well handled by narrow band IoT (NB-IoT). NB-IoT has the potential to reduce power and bandwidth requirements. NB-IoT is a low power wide area (LPWA) version of IoT which has the potential to cater to remote healthcare needs. NB-IoT is preferred over other networks due to cost efficiency, longevity, security, and mature, wide-reaching networks. However, security is an unavoidable threat in any IoT network, so as in NB-IoT. In this chapter, the authors discuss the performance of NB-IoT for healthcare applications, the issues and challenges faced, and some of the solutions to countermeasure these problems.

Undoubtedly the IoT is the future of technology, which can provide manifold benefits to health care. However, the challenges posed are also great. Concerning the analysis of healthcare data, various tools have been introduced to deal efficiently with the large volumes as well as the various peculiarities of data (e.g. missing values, noise, etc.). Most popular representative of these modern tools is data mining, or the KDD process, strictly speaking. Although the KDD process has provided a lot of solutions, in many cases these techniques have to be scaled in order to deal with the new challenges posed by the big data paradigm. Cloud computing is the modern infrastructure that can provide the means to efficiently manage big data. Both cloud computing and the IoT are very promising concepts of technology and their complementary characteristics assure that their integration, Cloud-IoT, is very promising too. The introduction of the Cloud-IoT paradigm in the healthcare domain can offer manifold benefits and opportunities that will considerably improve the quality of health care.

The usage of the IOT technology in the healthcare applications ensures the health care industries to enhance the quality of the care and minimize the expense with the automation and the resource optimization provided by it. The IOT in the medical imaging enables to have identification and the corrective measures to be taken in the real time with the auto analyzing of the imaging apparatus parameters at ease. Digitization reaching to many areas in the medical technology has also paved its way for the monitoring and the management of the medical equipment’s, the internet of things in the medical imaging would reduce the waiting time and the vexation for the patients as well as the physicians. So the paper presents the review on the internet of things based medical imaging technology for the health care applications providing the significance of the internet of things in the medical imaging technology.

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing is finding is a big part of our lifestyle, planning to upgrade personal satisfaction by partnering with various shrewd gadgets, innovations, and applications. Generally, the fields of IoT and cloud computing considers the mechanization of everything around the world. Presently scientists have discovered that there is a reasonably big utilization of IoT and cloud in the field of the health care industry. In between the panoply of uses empowered by the Internet of Things (IoT), brilliant and associated health care services play a significant role. The arrangement of network sensors, either exhausted on the body or incorporated into our living environment which makes the processing of information demonstrative of our physical and emotional well-being. Such data can achieve a positive disruptive shift in the human services, collected consistently, totaled, and adequately mined. This study exhibits the significance of the Internet of Things and Cloud in the field of the Healthcare Industry.

Among all the functions of the Internet of Things, healthcare applications are the most important. The internet of Things has played a vital role in the sharing of various medical resources making it an essential factor in the field of medicine. Without the applications, it may become challenging for the medical practice to achieve some objectives. Today, information is shared freely across different networks, making it easy for practitioners and institutions to work with the available resources and deliver on the medical needs of the society. IoT has made it possible to offer smart and effective healthcare services to people. The application of smart sensors is one of the factors that has contributed to effective management of healthcare needs in the society. Wearable devices can be used to track different issues within the body. Some can be embedded to monitor different functions of the body to ensure there is effectiveness in the way medical services are delivered to such patients. The information collected in such manner, can be analyzed, aggregated and mined to do the early prediction of diseases. Processing algorithms play a vital role in helping practitioners in developing personalized treatment, which makes healthcare more economical. Apart from analyzing the effectiveness of IoT in healthcare, challenges will be discussed in this study and how they impact medicine.

The various services that are offered by IoT and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to the customers today feature a pay-per-use service-charging policy. Customers can choose and avail these services when they want, how they want, and from where they want on demand. Demand for these services has increased drastically over the years among individuals and enterprises worldwide, and thus, it is very important to keep up good Quality of Service (QoS). This chapter highlights the history of internet, the gradual evolution of cloud computing, the reasons behind it, evolution and concepts of the Internet of Things (IoT), CloudIoT and its necessities, and various applications and service fields of CloudIoT. This chapter also precisely highlights various concepts regarding maintenance of good QoS, controversies in QoS maintenance, different parameters that the QoS depends on, various problems faced in maintaining those parameters, and the possible solutions for overcoming those problems. Possible directions towards future works are also highlighted in this chapter.
