An embedded audio-video synchronization compression coding approach is presented. The proposed method takes advantage of the different mode types used by the H.264 encoder during the inter prediction stage, different modes carry corresponding audio information, and the audio will be embedded into video stream by choosing modes during the inter prediction stage, then synchronization coding is applied to the mixing video and audio. We have verified the synchronization processing method based on H.264/AVC using JM Model and experimental results show that this method has achieved synchronization between audio and video at small embedded cost, and the same time, audio signal can be extracted without distortion, besides, this method has hardly effect on the quality of video image.

The question of finding the right information is perhaps even more important, and it requires a new organizing principle of information for the digital age…. The problem that people are running into with digitized information is that the amount of information is growing exponentially. The number of Web sites has grown from 5,000 to 50 million over the last 10 years or so, and the information they contain is very dynamic. At the same time, search engines are becoming more powerful and people are creating more sophisticated, semantically based retrieval mechanisms. All of that will, in fact, improve the quality of search and finding information. However, there is a different dimension, that of video and audio information, which cannot be routinely indexed and searched at present. (Goodman, 2001, pp. 13-14)

With the rapid development of computer and network technology, our everyday life is more and more influenced. In the information age it is an inevitable trend that consumer electronics will become more and more intelligentized and interconnected. Taking into account the characteristics of external network users’ access to a home networking, as well as the important role that the residential gateway plays in the interaction between external networks and home networking, this paper presents the idea of a unique access interface of the home networking. Furthermore, this paper designs and implements an IPv6-based UPnP real-time video and audio capture device, and the real-time audio/video stream captured is forwarded to external network users through the residential gateway. Other multimedia applications can be resolved in the same way.

Abstract The Brazilian gaited horse industry is growing steadily, even after a recession period that affected different economic sectors in the whole country. Recent numbers suggested an increase on the exports, which reveals the relevance of this horse market segment. Horses are classified according to the gait criteria, which divide the horses in two groups associated with the animal movements: lateral (Marcha Picada) or diagonal (Marcha_Batida). These two gait groups usually show remarkable differences related to speed and number of steps per fixed unit of time, among other factors. Audio retrieval refers to the process of information extraction obtained from audio signals. This new data analysis area, in comparison to traditional methods to evaluate and classify gait types (as, for example, human subjective evaluation and video monitoring), provides a potential method to collect phenotypes in a reduced cost manner. Audio files (n = 80) were obtained after extracting audio features from freely available YouTube videos. Videos were manually labeled according to the two gait groups (Marcha Picada or Marcha Batida) and thirty animals were used after a quality control filter step. This study aimed to investigate different metrics associated with audio signal processing, in order to first cluster animals according to the gait type and subsequently include additional traits that could be useful to improve accuracy during the identification of genetically superior animals. Twenty-eight metrics, based on frequency or physical audio aspects, were carried out individually or in groups of relative importance to perform Principal Component Analysis (PCA), as well as to describe the two gait types. The PCA results indicated that over 87% of the animals were correctly clustered. Challenges regarding environmental interferences and noises must be further investigated. These first findings suggest that audio information retrieval could potentially be implemented in animal breeding programs, aiming to improve horse gait.

Due to the advancement of multimedia and its requirement of communication over the network, video compression has received much attention among the researchers. One of the popular video codings is scalable video coding, referred to as H.264/AVC standard. The major drawback in the H.264 is that it performs the exhaustive search over the interlayer prediction to gain the best rate-distortion performance. To reduce the computation overhead due to exhaustive search on mode prediction process, this paper presents a new technique for inter prediction mode selection based on the fuzzy holoentropy. This proposed scheme utilizes the pixel values and probabilistic distribution of pixel symbols to decide the mode. The adaptive mode selection is introduced here by analyzing the pixel values of the current block to be coded with those of a motion compensated reference block using fuzzy holoentropy. The adaptively selected mode decision can reduce the computation time without affecting the visual quality of frames. Experimentation of the proposed scheme is evaluated by utilizing five videos, and from the analysis, it is evident that proposed scheme has overall high performance with values of 41.367 dB and 0.992 for PSNR and SSIM respectively.

Abstract BackgroundEchocardiography (echo) is the primary imaging modality for infective endocarditis (IE). However, the recommendations on timing and mode selection for transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) vary across guidelines, which can be confusing for clinical decision makers. In this case, we aim to appraise the quality of recommendations by appraising the quality of various guidelines.MethodsA search of guidelines containing recommendations for the appropriate use of echo in adult IE patients published in English between 2007 and 2019 was conducted. The APPRAISAL OF GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH & EVALUATION II (AGREE II) instrument was applied independently by two reviewers to assess the integrated quality of the identified guidelines. The recommendations of concern are extracted from related chapters.ResultsA total of 9 guidelines met the criteria, with AGREE II scores ranging from 36% to 79%, and the domain of “stakeholder involvement” received the lowest score. The most contentious issue is whether a follow-up TEE is mandatory in uncomplicated native valve IE with an initial positive TTE. Conflicting recommendations are presented with a low evidence level based on little evidence.ConclusionsIn general, the recommendations proposed in the 9 identified guidelines on the appropriate use of echo are satisfying. The guideline quality score can be taken into account by the clinicians when evaluating the recommendations for clinical decisions. Additional studies with high evidence level should be conducted on the most controversial issues of whether a subsequent TEE is mandatory in uncomplicated native valve IE with an initial positive TTE.

AbstractThis paper deals with an analysis of Kohonen map usage possibility for real-time evaluation of end-user video quality perception. The Quality of Service framework (QoS) describes how the network impairments (network utilization or packet loss) influence the picture quality, but it does not reflect precisely on customer subjective perceived quality of received video stream. There are several objective video assessment metrics based on mathematical models trying to simulate human visual system but each of them has its own evaluation scale. This causes a serious problem for service providers to identify a critical point when intervention into the network behaviour is needed. On the other hand, subjective tests (Quality of Experience concept) are time-consuming and costly and of course, cannot be performed in real-time. Therefore, we proposed a mapping function able to predict subjective end-user quality perception based on the situation in a network, video stream features and results obtained from the objective video assessment method.

In this paper, a web-based remote ENT diagnosis system is proposed. This service model encourages busy modem office workers to frequently understand their health conditions using a convenient manner. The software and hardware components are developed for patients and physicians. At the patient site, the EDH is implemented to acquire patients' symptoms and signs, and these symptoms and signs are recorded as video and audio files using a SDRS program. The SDRS program further transmits hese files and data to the VHS. Physicians may review the EPR through conventional web browser. Finally, tentative diagnostic reports are made for patients’ references. Two case studies are tested to verify the quality of remote diagnosis. Experiment results demonstrated that the proposed remote ENT diagnosis systems successful establish similar ENT diagnostic condition compared to face-to-face diagnoses.
