Recently river corridors in Guangzhou are being focused on as important natural networks in urban environment as well as cultural and recreational resources. The study area of this research is the Licheng section of the Zengjiang River Greenway. We attempt to do a comprehensive evaluation of its built environment by visitor experience. The main research contents were divided into 6 aspects: facilities, green space, signs and maps, transport, security and management, and recreational activities in external environment. Through the analysis, we identified six human dimensions of visitor experience in the studies: cleanliness, aesthetic, comfort, safety, suitability and hydrophilic property. As a result of this research, some problems on the evaluation were grasped by the hierarchy process analysis based on the above six categories. We concluded by discussing solutions of these problems, and suggested some proposals in design to meet the visitors’ requirement for the future construction of greenway. The Zengjiang River Greenway has served as a model for riparian greenways elsewhere in the Pearl River Delta.

Peroxy acetyl nitrate (PAN) is an important photochemical product formed from the reactions between volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) under sunlight. In this study, a field measurement was conducted at a rural site (the backgarden site, or BGS) of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region in 2006, with the 10 min maximum PAN mixing ratios of 3.9 ppbv observed. The factors influencing the abundance of PAN at the BGS site was evaluated by the process analysis through the Weather Research and Forecasting-Community Multiscale Air Quality (WRF-CMAQ) model. The results suggested that the increase of PAN abundance at the BGS site was mainly controlled by the gas-phase chemistry, followed by vertical transport, while its loss was modulated mainly by dry deposition and horizontal transport. As the dominant important role of gas-phase chemistry, to provide detailed information on the photochemical formation of PAN, a photochemical box model with near-explicit chemical mechanism (i.e., the master chemical mechanism, MCM) was used to explore the relationship of photochemical PAN formation with its precursors based on the measured data at the BGS site. It was found that PAN formation was VOC-limited at the BGS site, with the oxidation of acetaldehyde the most important pathway for photochemical PAN production, followed by the oxidation and photolysis of methylglyoxal (MGLY). Among all the primary VOC precursors, isoprene and xylenes were the main contributors to PAN formation. Overall, our study provides new insights into the PAN photochemical formation and its controlling factors, and highlighted the importance of gas chemistry on the PAN abundance in the PRD region.

Product evaluation is very important for product improvement and development, and subjective product evaluation determines customer’s evaluation of products to some extent, so the purpose of this study is to establish a reasonable subjective product evaluation system. In this study, we comprehensively determine the evaluation indexes based on Kansei engineering (KE), establish an overall product evaluation system by using analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and establish the subjective product evaluation system by classifying the evaluation indexes in the overall product evaluation system into “objective evaluation index” and “subjective evaluation index”, removing the objective evaluation indexes, and retaining the subjective evaluation indexes. Additionally, we select some modern chairs as experimental samples to verify the reliability and validity of this subjective product evaluation system by means of questionnaires. The experimental results show that, in this subjective product evaluation system, the subjective evaluation of the product is positively correlated with the “favorite” level of the product in comprehensive evaluation, and negatively correlated with the “least favorite” level of the product in comprehensive evaluation, indicating that this subjective product evaluation system realizes a symmetry between subjective product evaluation and comprehensive product evaluation. Therefore, it can be concluded that this subjective product evaluation system based on KE and AHP proposed in this study has reliability and validity, and can be used for product evaluation to judge the popularity of products and enhance the competitiveness of products.
