This contribution deals with the benefits of the global positioning system, with the influence of the human factor on fuel consumption and with monitoring of further savings in operation of earthmoving machines in a construction company. Fuel consumption data of a selected earthmoving machine before and after installation of a global positioning system unit and a fuel level measurement sensor are compared. These data are evaluated and the extent of the influence of the installed devices on the machine fuel consumption is determined from them. Further possibility of exploitation of monitoring of earthmoving machines during excavation and creation of given relief is also described here. Not only the fuel savings were evaluated, but also the accuracy and speed of performed work and thus also the influence of the human factor on performance of earthmoving machines itself.

The synergy that exists between geography, computer science and advances in information technologies has allowed the consolidation of geographic science from an integral perspective and allowing the correlation of basic elements for the analysis of the territory in an applied science called Geomatics. The research result in this field are linked to the collection and analysis of observation data, which are collected through satellites, ground stations, ocean buoys, the global positioning system (GPS), aerial sensors (photogrammetry), Weather balloons and traditional techniques for measuring and describing land. To process this data, Geographic Information System (GIS) has been developed, involving aspects of hardware and software with applications that are as diverse and varied as the users themselves. Also, presents an analysis of the main SIG's, its main features and applications , because despite having a scientific structure and IT support that allows one effective land management in rural or urban type, yet there is a wide area of opportunity solving and Previ or endo the emergence of conflicts interactions between human activities and geographical characteristics.

This paper describes the application of airborne video data with global positioning system and geographic information system technologies for detecting and mapping Chinese tamarisk infestations in the southwestern United States. Study areas were along the Colorado River in southwestern Arizona, the Rio Grande River in extreme west Texas, and the Pecos River in west-central Texas. Chinese tamarisk could be readily distinguished on conventional color video imagery in late November when its foliage turned a yellow-orange to orange-brown color prior to leaf drop. The integration of the global positioning system with the video imagery permitted latitude/longitude coordinates of Chinese tamarisk infestations to be recorded on each image. The global positioning system latitude/longitude coordinates were entered into a geographic information system to map Chinese tamarisk populations along the three river systems.

Theadvancement of smartphones, global positioning system, and information technologies have a great influence on our travelling preferences and behaviour, dynamically shaping the transportation industry. In addition to providing convenience to the riders, it also has created some debate among the stakeholders, including the policy makers. This paper presents a quantitative study of Taxi service experience in Jordan. The aim of the study is to evaluate Jordanians’ experiences with yellow taxi services, assess their opinion toward advantages and disadvantages of Uber taxi services in Jordan and obtain opinions on the expected future of Uber taxi services.

Seiring dengan pesatnya kemajuan teknologi saat ini, kebutuhan manusia menjadi lebih beragam, termasuk kebutuhan akan informasi. Tidak hanya media informasinya yang semakin beragam, jenis informasi yang dibutuhkan juga semakin beragam, salah satunya adalah kebutuhan informasi akan posisi kita terhadap lingkungan sekitar. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan itu sebuah sistem pemosisi diciptakan. Sistem pemosisi yang banyak digunakan saat ini cenderung berfokus pada lingkup ruang yang besar (global) padahal, dalam lingkup ruang yang lebih kecil (lokal) sebuah sistem pemosisi juga diperlukan, seperti di ruang-ruang terbuka umum (taman atau kebun), ataupun dalam sebuah bangunan. Sistem pemosisi lokal yang ada saat ini sering kali membutuhkan infrastruktur yang mahal dalam pembangunannya. Aplikasi Pemosisi Lokal Berbasis Android dengan Menggunakan GPS ini adalah sebuah aplikasi yang dibangun untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna akan informasi lokasi dan posisi mereka terhadap lingkungan di sekitarnya dalam lingkup ruang yang lebih kecil (lokal) dengan memanfaatkan perangkat GPS (Global Positioning System) yang telah tertanam dalam perangkat smartphone Android agar infrastruktur yang dibutuhkan lebih efisien. Dalam implementasinya, Aplikasi Pemosisi Lokal ini bertindak sebagai klien dengan dukungan sebuah Database Server yang berfungsi sebagai media penyimpanan data serta sumber referensi informasi yang dapat diakses melalui jaringan internet sehingga tercipta sebuah sistem yang terintegrasi secara global. Kata kunci: aplikasi, informasi, pemosisi, GPS.

This paper examines the distribution of hospitality services in Uyo Urban, Nigeria. GIS method was the primary tool used for data collection. A global positioning system (GPS) Garmin 60 model was used in tracking the location of 102 hospitality services in the study area. One hypothesis was stated and tested using the nearest neighbour analysis. The finding shows evidence of clustering of the various hospitality services. The tested hypothesis further indicated that hospitality services clustered in areas that guarantee a sustainable level of patronage to maximize profit. Thus, the hospitality services clustered in selected streets in the metropolis while limited numbers were found outside the city’s central area.
