During exploitation of horizontal well drilling engineering, the problem of drill string failure is very serious, there are many reasons, and drill string vibrations are main reasons. In this paper drill string of horizontal well is object being studied. The models about various vibrations are set up. The vibration rule of drill string is obtained under different situation; the axial and lateral frequency of drill string vibration in free state is studied. The analysis of modal vibration of drill string is the basis of the analysis of harmonic vibration of drill string. The harmonic vibrations rules of drill string of horizontal well are studied. All sorts of resonance frequencies are obtained practicability. This study can prove basic method for optimizing drill tool of horizontal well and reducing drill string failure.

Derrick is the basic equipment during drilling, fatigue and failure are the problems that effect drilling efficiency, the strong vibration of derrick is the main reason that caused derrick failure. The various kinds of vibration of drilling derrick are analyzed in this paper. The model of derrick JJ60/38-W is set up, the phenomena of vibration of derrick are studied, and the vibration state behaves many dynamic situations under the bad condition, including axial, lateral, torsional vibration. These vibrations are studied; the rule of various kinds of vibration is obtained. The modal vibration and harmonic vibration are analyzed, the situation of harmonic vibration of different nodes of derrick are obtained. The software ANSYS is applied in this paper, the result can be used for the actual drill case.

Based on field data and the related theories, the effects of drill string length, rotation speed, trajectory, and drilling fluid density on the friction during horizontal well drilling are analyzed in Sichuan. With increasing the length of drill string in the horizontal section, the friction grows. The drill pipe rotates faster and the torque decreases. Large undulation of borehole deviation and the “W” shape of the horizontal section lead to excessive friction. A higher fluid density causes higher torque and drag. Moreover, a friction reduction tool is designed to reduce friction, decrease the wear between the casing and the drill pipe joint, and prevent the differential pressure sticking, which improves the rate of penetration, and the specially designed spiral diversion channels improve the efficiency of borehole cleaning. The field experimental results have shown that the accumulated operational time of the friction reduction tool is more than 130 h and its fatigue life reaches up to 3 × 105 cycles. A plan of improving the tool structure is proposed to reduce the mud balling after the experiment. Finally, the mathematical model of calculating the spacing of the friction reduction tools is established, which provides technical support for investigating the friction in horizontal well drilling.

In order to improve the drilling speed, lower the costs of development and solve the challenge of economies of scale development in sulige gas field, the key techniques research on long horizontal section of horizontal well drilling speed are carried out. Through analyzing the well drilling and geological data in study area, and supplemented by the feedback of measured bottom hole parameters provided by underground engineering parameters measuring instrument, the key factors restricting the drilling speed are found out and finally developed a series of optimum fast drilling technologies of horizontal wells, including exploitation geology engineering technique, strengthen the control of wellbore trajectory, optimize the design of the drill bit and BHA and intensify the drilling parameters. These technologies have a high reference value to improve the ROP of horizontal well in sulige gas field.

The aricle is about the pipe stick problems of deep well drilling. Pipe stick problem is one of the drilling problems. There are two types of pipe stick problems exist. One of them is differential pressure pipe sticking. Another one of them is mechanical pipe sticking. There are a lot of reasons for pipe stick problems. Indigators of differential pressure sticking are increase in torque and drug forces, inability to reciprocate drill string and uninterrupted drilling fluid circulation. Fatigue damage in the rotating drill pipe in the horizontal well of mining engineering is usually resulted from cyclic bending stresses caused by the rotation of the pipe especially when it is passing through curved sections or horizontal sections. This paper studies fatigue life prediction method of rotating drill pipe which is considering initial crack in horizontal well of mining engineering. Forman fatigue life prediction model which considering stress ratio is used to predict drill string fatigue life and the corresponding software has been written. The program can be used to calculate the stress of down hole assembly, can predict stress and alternating load in the process of rotating-on bottom. Therefore, establishing buckling string fatigue life prediction model with cracks can be a good reference to both operation and monitor of the drill pipe for mining engineering.
