The experiments of refractory copper oxide ore which comes from Tangdan of Yunnan Province were studied in laboratory using bulk flotation process and a new process that Ammonia leaching-Extraction-Electrode position-Residue flotation under normal temperature and pressure respectively. The results show that new process, compared with bulk flotation, had an effect to add 10.8 percent points to recovery. And then it is confirmed by industry experiment. So it is successfully applied to industry production and technology indicators were improved dramatically.

Ammonia leaching research is carried out on a certain oxidised copper ores. The effects of oxidized copper ores which came from Yunnan Province were studied in laboratory in order to find out the optimum leaching conditions under normal temperature and pressure. The ores belonged to typical high binding rate minerals. The optimum conditions obtained were as follows: granding fineness about 90% -0.074mm, ammonia concentration 2 mol/l, ammonium fluoride concentration 1.5mol/l , leaching time 2h, and liquid-solid ratio 3:1.The leaching rate of this ore could reach 86%.

The effects of oxidized copper ores which came from Yunnan province were carried out by using ammonialeaching methods in the laboratory. In order to seek the optimum leaching conditions under normal temperature and pressure,we conducted a series of validation experiments. Theoptimum conditions were obtained as follows: ammonia concentration 2.5mol/L, ammonium sulfateconcentration 2.5mol/L,grinding fineness about 80% -0.074mm, liquid-solid ratio 2.5:1and leaching time was 2.5h. Under these experimental conditions, the copper leaching rate could reach 69.91%.

Tangdan copper oxide ore deposit, located in the northeast Yunnan province of China, is the largest independent copper oxide deposit in China. The ore from the deposit is characterized by low grade, high oxidation ratio and fine-grained dissemination, which results in the poor flotation recovery. The analysis of plant flotation data reveals that the loss of copper minerals into tailings is mainly with coarse size fraction, due to its insufficient liberation and finer size, especially for the size fraction below 10 microns, which are very difficult to be floated with conventional flotation methods. In order to improve the flotation performance of the ore, laboratory tests include Hallimond flotation and vacuum flotation were respectively conducted with pure malachite, the dominant copper oxide mineral in the deposit; and the results indicate that a finer grinding fineness up to -325 mesh even -400 mesh is required to decrease the copper loss in the coarse size fraction, and vacuum flotation provides a promising way for the recovery of ultrafine malachites.

A new method, staged flotation for effectively increasing the recovery of ultra-fine copper oxide ore with a new type of collector (ZH-1, C3-5 carbon chain xanthate) is proposed for the first time. The flotation process and mechanism were examined by flotation tests, entrainment rate analysis, laser particle size experiments and microscopic imagery as well as economic feasibility analysis. It was demonstrated that the collector isoamyl sodium xanthate (ISX) shows a good collection ability (recovery exceeded 95%) for azurite, but the recovery was relatively much lower for malachite (only near 80%) due to the different particle size distribution. The new type of xanthate ZH-1 has shown a high-efficiency collection performance for fine-grained malachite. The recovery achieved for −10 μm malachite was more than 95% when the ZH-1 dosage was 150 mg/L, while the average particle size of −10 μm malachite sharply increased from 4.641 μm to 9.631 μm. The batch flotation results indicated that the copper oxide flotation recovery increased from 79.67% to 83.38%, and the grade also raised from 18.08% to 18.14% after using the staged flotation technology with ZH-1 as collector during the flotation of −25 μm ore. It was confirmed that this technology was quite effective for the recovery of copper oxide at the Dishui Copper Processing Plant, which successfully increased its gross profit by 1.6 million US$ per year.

To establish the flotation response and suitability of the collectors, series of bench-scale flotation tests are conducted for the refractory oxide copper ores obtained from Yangla Mine in Yunnan province. A simple xanthate (PAX) is used as the sulphide collector and a chelating reagent of hydroxamate AM28 as the oxide collector. It is found and confirmed by mineralogical examination that AM28 successfully recovered all the discrete copper oxide minerals from the Yangla ore. The flotation tests show that the overall copper recovery is affected due to the minerals copper associated with goethite which is not amenable to flotation. The average copper recovery from the rougher tests is 38.4% with a concentrate grade of 3.19%. The additional cleaning flotation can increase the Cu grade in concentrate further.

Efficient reagents were used in the direct-reverse flotation process to process the mid-low grade Si-Ca collophanite. We got nice results in the laboratory experiment and expanding test. These results showed that our study was successful in technology, economy and environment effect. It also offers support for building flotation mill in future.

The study aims to recover copper minerals from a high content of slime and refractory copper oxide ore by flotation process. Based on the research on the properties of the material, the grinding fineness and reagent system are investigated and a technological flow sheet consisting of one roughing flotation, two concentrate flotation, three scavenging flotation and one concentrate-scavenging flotation is adopted. The optimum parameters of flotation experiment are determined as grinding fineness of 90%, dosage of CHO at 200 g/t, dosage of Na2S at 800 g/t and dosage of isoamyl xanthogenate at 1200 g/t. Under such a condition, a copper recovery of 75.03% with a concentrate grade of 18.01% is obtained, which provides a new way for separating the refractory copper oxide ore attached high content of slime.

Talcum is a common gangue with which sulphide ores are associated, it has an adverse impact on sulphide ores flotation and product index due to its high natural floatability. In this paper it takes talcum-bearing copper sulphide ores from DongChuan in Yunnan province as experimental samples, and a series of tests on depressing talcum in the copper suphide ore flotation were carried out. Results show that when took the composed CMC and sodium hexametaphosphate as depressant with respective dosage 200g/t and 300g/t, it obtained a favourableeffect. In addition, depression effect can get improved with the dosage of collector increasing properly, it shows that when took the composed CMC and sodium hexametaphosphate as depressant, it can make the flotation process stable. It employed rougher-scavenger-three cleaners system as the closed-circuit flowsheet, and attained a Cu concentrate product of whom grade and recovery is 16.16%, 78.78% respectively. The results might contribute to dispose some similar talcum-bearing sulphide ores in the future.
