With the improvement of people’s living standard, the traditional warm clothing already cannot satisfy people’s diversified demands about clothes’ comfortableness, functionality and aesthetics. Hygroscopic exothermic fibers as a positive heat production type of warm fibers have attracted much attention. Softwarm heating warm fiber is a kind of new functional material and at the same time it is a representative of hygroscopic exothermic fiber. It can absorb the moisture by skin breathe and transfer it into heat energy through chemical reaction so as to achieve the purpose of warmth. In this paper, warmth property, tensile property, and drapability of softwarm fiber plain knitted fabric were tested, and comfort property, mechanical property and appearance performances of softwarm heating warm fiber fabric were investigated. Our study showed that the wearability of softwarm fiber fabric is fine, especially the warmth property which can meet our needs of warmth to knitted underwear.

In this paper, welt knitted fabric reinforced composites were fabricated and its tensile properties were measured. Changing knitted structure from plain knit to welt knit caused changing mechanical properties, particularly isotropic tensile strength could be obtained. The fracture mode of welt knitted fabric reinforced composite was similar that of plain knitted fabric reinforced composite.

The main content dealt with in the paper is to present a kind of weft-knitted spacer fabric with high porosity. It is a kind of three-dimensional textile fabric with a sandwich structure that consists of a middle layer of multifilament and two outer layers of plain-knitted fabric. Compared with traditional warp-knitted spacer fabric as cushion mats, weft-knitted spacer fabric is well used as apparel for good softness, thermal/moisture comfort, and air permeability. Therefore, three structures were designed and nine samples were prepared by choosing plain-knitted fabric as the outer layers and selecting soft and thin multifilament as a middle layer. Experimental results show that this kind of weft-knitted spacer fabrics has high porosity, greater than 86%, and also demonstrate that the weft-knitted spacer fabric is suitable for comfortable apparel based on experimental results of air permeability, compression properties, stiffness, and thermal insulation properties.

There have been three major concerns regarding the clothing comfort, psychological, sensorialand thermo-physiological comfort. However, there is lack of work on thermo-physiological comfort ofknitted fabric. Hence the present study is conducted to fulfill this gap by analyzing physiological comfortin sense of air permeability, absorbency, vertical wicking and drying time of plain knitted fabric. Clothingcomfort is mainly affected by type of fibres, yarn properties, structure of fabric, finishing treatments, andclothing conditions. In this study the effect of various yarn counts and polyester/cotton blend ratios on thecomfort of knitted fabric has been analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Itis depicted from the results that the selected variables put direct influences on the thermo-physiologicalcomfort of the knitted fabric. The increasing share of polyester in the blend and the fine count for yarnput negative impact on the comfort of the knitted fabric.

Fine denier fiber fabric has unique wicking effect and good hydrophobic property, which can keep dry and moisture comfortable when people are in heavy and continued sweat. This paper studied the dynamic moisture comfort property of fine denier fiber fabric compared with conventional fiber fabrics. Firstly, a series of experiments was performed on studying the dynamic moisture transferring procedure and evaluating moisture comfort property of fine denier fiber fabrics in two different environmental conditions, which were the most comfortable condition and an extremely uncomfortable condition for humans. Then, by measuring the real time changes of relative humidity in inner and outer surfaces of test fabrics, fabrics’ dynamic comprehensive index was obtained to characterize fabrics’ dynamic moisture comfort property. Finally, grey system theory was introduced to establish prediction models that could describe the relationship between fabric’s static parameters and dynamic comprehensive index. Results show that fine denier fiber fabric has better moisture comfort property than conventional fiber fabrics.
