Cold bend section forming is generally completed by multi roll pass. The whole rolling process form chain structure. Applying virtual manufacturing technology to cold bend section production field is a new concept. Aiming at the chain of the specific conditions of the rolling process, the paper studies the application of virtual manufacturing technology implementation method and puts forward a new concept and technical measures.

the aid of commercially available software MSC.SuperForm, a 3-D finite element model has been established to simulate the rolling process of steel tubes on the stretch reducing mill (SRM) with group centralized differential drive in certain factories. A special effort was made to analyze the fluctuation of transverse wall thickness uniformity. It was found that the wall thickness of each stand was accumulated in the original pass 50°~60° along the circumferential direction, which caused the formation of the inner hexagon defects and worsen. In view of this, this paper proposes a modified roll pass design method which uses the interactive technology of CAD graph curve and MATLAB equation. By means of decreasing the lateral curvature of roll pass contour curve to enlarge the contact length between the tube and groove, also the rolling process using the new pass system were simulated and analyzed. The results indicate that the design of such polygonal roll pass can be effective in improving the inner hexagon defects.

The roller hemming system could be verified before it is put into operation by virtual manufacturing technology. This paper analyses roller hemming process, establish roller hemming system 3D models, include roller hemming tool system, roller hemming fixtures system and roller hemming robot. Finally verify the reasonableness of roller hemming system based on DELMIA.

With the continuously increasing ERP implementation, how to define master data, especially manufacturing leadtime is a difficult problem faced by all the manufacturers. Based on VMT (Virtual Manufacturing Technology), the article discusses how to integrate ERP and VMT to help solve it. By running simulation modeling, we can calculate manufacturing leadtime for each operation on the workcell, and thus get the whole routing manufacturing leadtime. This method not only calculates manufacturing leadtime, but also solves the capability planning problem. With the help of VMT, R&D engineers can then supply the exact solutions to prepare master data for ERP system.
