Waste soil progressing in shield tunnel construction should occupy large space, on the other hand, do harm to city environment. If the waste sand in silt and fine sand layer can be used as sand source of synchronous grouting, it will bring benefits for the enterprise and society. In indoor experiment, we select waste sand in different layers, sieved as sand source, then use the waste sand to produce slurry and compare their strength with the construction slurry’s. The study found, sieved waste sand in silt and fine sand layer can be used as sand source for making synchronous grouting slurry.

when slurry shield drives in fine silty sand layer, the waste sand consists of a large amount of fine silty sand, it will wastes a lot of money if the waste sand is buried. In laboratory, we use the waste sand as the sand source of shield synchronized grouting, studying on the feasibility of the processing method and slurry properties. The results showed that the sieving waste sand in fine silty sand layer can be used as the sand source of shield synchronized grouting, it is a better way to increase the strength of slurry by increasing the ratio of fly ash for the slurry used the waste sand as sand source.

The grout behind the lining segments have a powerful influence on the long-term basis in shield tunnel construction in gravel sand and round gravel layers. Grouting layer detection in the shield construction is important. Two aspects are usually be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the grout treatment, one is the thickness of the Grouting layer and the other is to determine the presence and distribution of any damage in grouting layer. This study reports on the applications of the ground penetrating radar (GPR) and associated work carried out on Nanchang Metro line 1, Jiangxi province of China. After raw data preprocessing the results of the radar image are used to evaluate the thickness and hidden trouble of the grout layer automatically.

Considering the interaction of building-soil-tunnel, the grillage beams foundation frame building vertical crossed by Double-O-Tube (DOT) shield tunnel was simulated by 3D MIDAS/ GTS software, and the impact of construction on the building was analyzed. The results show that: the ground settlement trough caused by DOT shield tunnel can be fitted by peck formula; during the passage of the shield tunneling through the building, the settlement of the building increased and settlement trough was wilder; the settlement was stable and had a little rebound when shield machine already passed the building; with the increase of driving distance, the first principal stress P1 increased and then was stable; with the increase of L, the shape of foundation settlement curve changed, and the maximum differential settlement between columns increased but was small.

The conventional mucking system of tunnel construction in China has a series of deficiencies and stubborn problems. Tunnel mucking technologies matched with different tunnel construction methods have been analyzed systematically and the continuous belt mucking methodology which is appropriated with drilling-blasting method was presented. The continuous belt mucking technology includes mucking scheme design and mucking equipment configuration. Compared with the conventional mucking methods, the comprehensive benefit can be fully demonstrated by the new continuous belt mucking system. On the other hand, the predominance on environmental protection of the continuous belt mucking technoloty matches up with the conservation policy. The technology would be widely applied in long tunnels and tunnels embedded in frozen ground and located in bitter cold plateau. The economic benifis and contribution to society of continuous belt mucking technology would be remarkable.

Confronting with the difficulties of the construction metro station in the Northeast of China, a new idea of shield method combined prefabricated method is put forward. In the paper the research status of the underground engineering precast assembly technology was analyzed and classified firstly. The method of single round interval shield combined with open-cut (or covered excavation) prefabricated sections and on the basis of shield tunnel to build single arch station is especially worth studying and promotion. Then the key prefabricate theory needing to deal with such as how to calculating the spring stiffness and so forth of the calculating model. The key technology such as joint formation, waterproof and the other of shield method combined with prefabricated method was discussed.
