This article, to optimize the transmission mechanism of tightening machine, select the involute planetary gear with two teeth differences a research object, determine the design variables about modification coefficient, modulus and tooth thickness, based on the target of having the minimum volume, a mathematical model of optimization was established, the optimal solution of the objective function is obtained by using the SQP method on fmincon function of optimization toolbox of Matlab. The results showed, the volume of pinion decreased 15% after optimizated, the volume of the corresponding gear will also greatly reduced, achieved the optimization goal.

In order to make the coal mining machine adapt the narrow work space underground, and the height of shearer is decided by the planetary gear transmission mechanism of traction unit. In this paper, the volume of planetary gear transmission mechanism is selected as objective function, and module of gear, teeth of sun gear, width of gear are considered as design variables based on mechanical transmission theory, and the optimized mathematical model of the planetary gear transmission mechanism of traction unit is established. The optimized mathematical model is solved by SQP(sequential quadratic programming) basd on Matlab program, the volume of planetary gear transmission mechanism reduces 20.22%, and the height of shearer decreases 11.3%.

Dynamic balance of the spatial engine is researched. By considering the special wobble-plate engine as the model of spatial RRSSC linkages, design variables on the engine structure are confirmed based on the configuration characters and kinetic analysis of wobble-plate engine. In order to control the vibration of the engine frame and to decrease noise caused by the spatial engine, objective function is choosed as the dimensionless combinations of the various shaking forces and moments, the restriction condition of which presents limiting the percent of shaking moment. Then the optimization design is investigated by the mathematical model for dynamic balance. By use of the optimization design method to a type of wobble-plate engine, the optimization process as an example is demonstrated, it shows that the optimized design method benefits to control vibration and noise on the engines and improve the performance practically and theoretically.

Abstract A mathematical model for multi objective optimization design of belt transmission is proposed in this paper. The normal fuzzy distribution is used to convert the ideal and non-inferior solutions into fuzzy subsets over the space of objective function values. The optimal solution which is closest to the ideal one could then be found on the basis of closeness degree method.

Various elements in planetary gear reducer design are discussed. A multi-objective optimization model is created. The model requires the minimum volume and the maximum contact ratio. The method of multiplication and division is used to solve the multi-objective problem, and the method of feasibility enumeration is used to handle the discrete variables. The results show that the optimal solution meets the actual requirements.

In the optimization design of the gear hobbing machine bed, the finite element model is build and the static analysis and vibration modal analysis are performed. Then sensitivity analysis is used to gain the main design parameters which influence the bed property most. Furthermore, the multi-objective optimization design of the bed is performed in ANSYS Workbench with these design parameters as the design variables. At last, after all optimum proposals are showed up, Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to determine the weighting coefficient, and the most optimal solution is found out. As a result, the dynamic and static performances of the machine bed are improved under control of the machine bed mass.

In view of robustness of objective function and constraints in robust design, the method of maximum variation analysis is adopted to improve the robust design. In this method, firstly, we analyses the effect of uncertain factors in design variables and design parameters on the objective function and constraints, then calculate maximum variations of objective function and constraints. A two-level optimum mathematical model is constructed by adding the maximum variations to the original constraints. Different solving methods are used to solve the model to study the influence to robustness. As a demonstration, we apply our robust optimization method to an engineering example, the design of a machine tool spindle. The results show that, compared with other methods, this method of HPSO(hybrid particle swarm optimization) algorithm is superior on solving efficiency and solving results, and the constraint robustness and the objective robustness completely satisfy the requirement, revealing that excellent solving method can improve robustness.

The aerodynamic devices play an important role on the performance of the Formula SAE racing car. The rear wing is the most significant and popular element, which offers primary down force and optimizes the wake. In traditional rear wing optimization, the optimization variables are first selected, and separately enumerated according to the analyzing experience of the racing car’s external flow field, and thus the optimal design is chosen by comparison. This method is complicated, and even might lose some key sample points. In this paper, the attack angle of the rear wing and the relative position parameters are set as design variables; then the design variables’ combination is determined by the DOE experimental design method. The aerodynamic lift and drag of the racing car for these variables’ combinations are obtained by the computational fluid dynamics method. With these sample points, the approximation model is produced by the response surface method. For the sake of gaining the best lift to drag ( FL/ FD) ratio, i.e. maximum down force and the minimum drag force, the optimal solution is found by the genetic algorithm. The result shows that the established optimization procedure can optimize the rear wing’s aerodynamic characteristic on the racing car effectively and have application values in the practical engineering.

This article analyzes the NGW type planetary gear transmission mechanism and structure, establishes boundary constraint conditions and mathematics optimization model in view of the smallest volume's project objective. It can realize the NGW type planetary gear transmission optimization design through compiling corresponding computer program, obtain the optimization design parameters. In optimization design's foundation, it applies the CAD technology to establish drawing program, realizes the parametric drawing.

Fuzzy reliability analysis is regared as the theoretical basis. It takes the minimum volume and the maximum transmission efficiency as objective function.Then the mathematical model of fuzzy reliability optimal design on two stage planetary gear sets is set up. Genetic algorithm based on predatory search strategy is used to solve the fuzzy reliability mathematical model. Examples of calculation shows that the volume is decrease by 15%. The results imply the fuzzy reliability analysis is more scientific and reasonable in designing two stage planetary gear sets by using fuzzy reliability analysis.
