The complete oral rehabilitation of patients demanding a beautiful and attractive smile involves a multidisciplinary approach that includes the change of both the morphological aspect of the teeth and the architecture of gum tissues. This clinical report describes a successful interdisciplinary approach for the treatment of an esthetically compromised dentition. In a first phase, the periodontal plastic surgery was performed for root coverage and, in particular, it was decided for the execution of a coronally advanced flap for the treatment of multiple recession defects. Once complete healing of soft tissues was obtained, six lithium disilicate veneers were placed over the anterior maxillary teeth. Lithium disilicate is a glass-based ceramic which presents excellent aesthetics and allows the passage of light without creating unnatural reflections. This feature has made it possible to recreate a natural aspect of teeth that in combination with the harmonic architecture of soft tissue has permitted obtaining a beautiful and pleasant smile.

Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) has been defined as a group of hereditary enamel defects. It can be characterized by enamel hypoplasia, hypomaturation, or hypocalcification of the teeth. AI may be associated with some other dental and skeletal developmental defects. Restoration for patients with this condition should be oriented toward the functional and esthetic rehabilitation. This clinical report describes the oral rehabilitation of a young patient diagnosed with the hypoplastic type of AI in posterior teeth and hypomatured type of AI in anterior teeth.

ABSTRACTAmelogenesis imperfecta (AI) encompasses a complicated group of hereditary conditions that cause developmental alterations in the structure of the enamel in the absence of a systemic disorder. AI primarily affects the quality and/or quantity of dental enamel, and it may affect all or only some of the teeth in the primary and/or permanent dentition. This clinical report describes the oral rehabilitation of a 21-year-old man diagnosed with hypomaturation-type AI. He presented with discolored and mutilated teeth. Cephalometrically, the patient has skeletal class II malocclusion due to mandibular deficiency considered as a result of maxillary constriction. The interdisciplinary approach was followed because of the complex needs of the patient. The aim of treatment was to restore aesthetics, improve malocclusion and masticatory function. Aesthetic and functional expectations were met with metal ceramic restorations. In this report, the interdisciplinary approach for a patient with AI and a malocclusion is described. Ankyloglossia or tongue tie refers to restricted tongue movements, diagnosed in early childhood and adolescence that may cause changes in bone growth and other orofacial tissues results in altered oral functions of the child. It also affects speech, mastication and oral hygiene as well as social environment. Patients with oligodontia and tongue tie may have psychological, aesthetic, phonetic and functional problems. A rare case of female child patient with congenital partial anodontia and associated ankyloglossia with its comprehensive step wise multidisciplinary management is presented. The patient was advised for frenectomy to relieve tongue tie and functional fixed aesthetic space maintainer at an early age and was followed-up to be treated with definitive implant prosthesis with respect to the missing teeth. Early treatment and follow-up is the key to successful rehabilitation of young patients with congenitally missing teeth and ankyloglossia. It is imperative that oral rehabilitation be started as early as possible to maintain and correct the oral functions. This clinical report describes a successful aesthetic, functional, and psychological rehabilitation of a young adolescent girl with partial anodontia in mandibular anterior region and associated extensive tongue tie with step by step surgical and prosthetic management in accordance with the physical growth pattern of patient. It also offers guidelines for comprehensive management which can be used by the treating pedodontist and oral surgeon for diagnosis and treatment of ankyloglossia and partial anodontia.

Ellis-van Creveld syndrome (EVC) is a very rare genetic disorder that affects various tissues of ectodermal and mesodermal origin; patients with EVC present with typical oral deficiencies. The affected individuals are quite young at the time of oral evaluation. It is, therefore, important that these individuals are diagnosed and receive dental treatment at an early age for their physiologic and psychosocial well-being. Albeit there are numerous articles penned on the EVC, the treatise from an oral perspective is inadequate, covering only oral exhibitions and the preventive treatments. This article reviews the literature and serves as the first disquisition for oral rehabilitation of an EVC patient utilizing surgical, orthodontic, restorative, and prosthodontic management.

The demand for esthetic dentistry is ever increasing. A beautiful smile is considered as a symbol of health and vitality is now looked upon as a status symbol. Discoloration of the front tooth may severely affect the confidence of the patient. The use of dental implant presents a conservative and esthetic method of replacing missing teeth. Bleaching is recommended as a minimal invasive and cost effective approach to change the color of the teeth. This clinical report describes the oral rehabilitation of an adult male who suffered severe dentoalveolar trauma as a result of a motor vehicle accident. The specific objectives of this treatment were to restore esthetics and masticatory function. Treatment included removal of fractured roots, placement of multiple endosseous implants, and placement of anterior and posterior metal-ceramic crowns and fixed partial dentures. Three year clinical examination revealed no pathology associated with the rehabilitation. The patient's esthetic and functional expectations were successfully achieved.

Cleft lip and/or cleft palate defects often result in a functional deficiency in the patient’s chewing, speech ability, and aesthetic appearance, usually demanding multidisciplinary effort for addressing the aesthetic and functional patient’s requirements. This clinical report describes the planned oral rehabilitation of a 46-year-old woman with unilateral cleft lip defect based on the patient’s peculiarities and age. Due to limitations concerning bone grafts and implant procedures, as well as orthodontic treatment, the prosthodontic rehabilitation using the metal-ceramic fixed partial denture was chosen. The treatment adequately reestablished the aesthetic and functional activities, positively impacting the patient’s quality of life.
