Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a primary neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin. The prognosis of the disease is considered poor. Secondary metastasis is common, however a secondary metastasis to kidney from Merkel cell is a very rare phenomenon. We report a case of a man with a MCC metastasis to the right kidney. The suggested management is surgery and afterwards a platinum-based chemotherapy.

Epidermoid carcinoma is a frequent tumor in the upper aerodiodestive tracts, and depending on its location and tumor, nodes, metastases (TNM) stage, its therapy and prognosis vary enormously. Its location in the hypopharynx is rare, and in children or young adolescents, this location is extremely rare; The incriminated causes and the pathophysiology of the development of these tumors at this age remain a mystery. We present the case of a young patient of 13 years old, followed for squamous cell carcinoma of the right piriform sinus, with contralateral synchronous tonsil localization, and right lateral cervical lymphadenopathy fixed at 5 cm. In the absence of existing guidelines on the management of this type of location at this age, a multi-disciplinary meeting was necessary to decide on the management of this difficult case at this age.

Abstract Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare cutaneous neuroendocrine cancer that shows aggressive biologic behavior. Although it usually occurs in sun-exposed areas, it can rarely be seen in non-sun-exposed sites. Here, we present a 66-year-old woman with MCC arising from the right gluteal region that was treated wide excision and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. In the 24th month follow-up, the case was disease and recurrence free, representing the longest survival among patients with gluteal MCC. Early diagnosis and treatment are important to improve survival rates in patients with non-sun-exposed MCC. Keywords: Merkel cell carcinoma, non-sun-exposed, Continuous...

Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) is a cutaneous neuroendocrine cancer with a poor prognosis. It is characterized by a high rate of recurrence and metastases to regional as well as distant sites. Clinically, MCC often manifests as a single painless, hard nodule in the sun-exposed area. The diameter is often <2cm, but in few cases, it can be >2cm, with rapid growth and metastases to lymph nodes. MCC carcinoma is diagnosed in the advanced stage because of its resemblance with other skin cancers. Because of the aggressive nature of this cancer, the overall prognosis is found to be poor. In this case report, we report a 71-year-old gentle male who presented with a painless mass in the right axilla three years ago, was diagnosed with MCC of the skin and was treated with surgical removal of the mass together with radiation therapy. Two years later, the follow-up visit restaging PET CT scan was done and was found to have a new intense uptake in the soft tissue nodule adjacent to the proximal sigmoid colon. Biopsy confirmed the metastasis of MCC to the colon. We are reporting an uncommon location of MCC metastasis to the intestine for which he got treated with immunotherapy.

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare tumor with neuroendocrine origin. It presents as a single red nodule in the sun-exposed area by rapid and aggressive growth. This study presented a rare case of MCC on an unusual site, associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
