Introduction. Scorpion stings occur mainly in spring and summer, with an estimate of 1.2 million cases per year worldwide. About 300,000 poisonings occur within a year, primarily affecting children and adults older than 65 years. In 2019, Guanajuato (Mexico) ranked third in poisoning by scorpion sting with a total of 43,913 cases. The intoxication grades are three where the signs and symptoms are varied. There are two types of antivenom in the Mexican market, and we use Alacramyn® in our case. Case presentation. A 70-year-old female —with grade 1 scorpion sting poisoning, 30 minutes of evolution, with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure— received two vials of antivenom according to current regulations. She presented transient vagal reaction and subsequent transient pain in the cervical region that radiates to the sacral region. At discharge, there are no data compatible with scorpion sting poisoning. Conclusions. Transient pain in the cervical region to the sacral region may be secondary to an anxiety crisis, hypersensitivity to IgG, or secondary reaction to administration in less time than recommended by the provider. The benefit was greater than the reactions that occurred.

AbstractBrucellosis is a zoonotic disease widely seen in endemic regions and that can lead to systemic involvement. The musculoskeletal system is frequently affected, and the disease can exhibit clinical involvements such as arthritis, spondylitis, spondylodiscitis, osteomyelitis, tenosynovitis and bursitis. Spondylitis and spondylodiscitis, common complications of brucellosis, predominantly affect the lumbar and thoracic vertebrae.Epidural abscess may occur as a rare complication of spondylitis. Spinal brucellosis and development of epidural abscess in the cervical region are rare. Development of epidural abscess affects the duration and success of treatment. Spinal brucellosis should be considered in patients presenting with fever and lower back-neck pain in endemic regions, and treatment must be initiated with early diagnosis in order to prevent potential complications.

Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a rare inherited disorder, characterised by a progressive mineralization and fragmentation of elastic fibres of the skin, retina and cardiovascular system. At an initial stage, the skin usually exhibits distinctive lesions and subsequently extra-dermal manifestations. The diagnosis is based on clinical manifestations, histological analysis of the lesions and genetic analysis. This is a case report of a 12-year-old child complaining of painless, mildly itchy yellow papules in the cervical region with 1 year of evolution. PXE is currently an incurable disease and has a favourable prognosis when cardiovascular and retinal complications are prevented and monitored.

Teratomas are true neoplasms originating from pluripotent cells and are composed of tissues from all three germinal layers, usually benign in nature. The most common sites are the sacrococcyx, anterior mediastinum, testicle, ovary, or retroperitoneum. Teratomas of head and neck are exceedingly rare and only about 10% of teratomas are found in this area. Nasopharynx and cervical region are the most common sites. We describe a one-day old female neonate with a large oral teratoma originating from the tongue which was successfully treated with surgery.
