We report on a rare case of primary carcinoid tumor in a horseshoe kidney. A 56-year-old male was referred at our clinic with a history of urinary tract stones. A CT scan revealed a horseshoe kidney with a large mass in the lower pole of the right kidney. The patient was submitted to a partial right nephrectomy with resection of the lower half of the right kidney and isthmectomy The histological and immunohistochemical findings were compatible with a diagnosis of primary carcinoid tumor. After 24 months the patient is still alive without evidence of recurrence or progression.

A rare case of xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in a horseshoe kidney is presented, with emphasis on the computed tomography findings. This very rare combination has only been reported twice in an adult, and never been published with images.

Horseshoe kidney (HSK) is the most common renal anomaly. Reports of the incidence of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in HSK are conflicting. Very few cases of isthmus-located RCC have been reported in the literature. We report a unique case of an isthmus-located RCC. Proper vascular and tumor imaging prior to surgery is key to successful tumor removal.

Acute and chronic pyelonephritis are known afflictions to the kidney in diabetics and in patients of abnormal urinary anatomy. And its presentation as a spontaneous sinus opening on the anterior abdominal wall is a rare phenomenon. We present one such rare case of a 71-year-old male with pus discharge from the anterior abdominal wall for 7 months. On investigating, it was found to be a nephrocutaneous fistula arising from the left non-functional kidney. This was dealt with left nephrectomy along with excision of the sinus tract. Though a very rare condition, a possibility of nephrocutaneous fistula must be kept when dealing with discharging sinus in lumbar region.

The aim of the study is to present a rare case of incidentally detected pelvic pancake kidney with radiological imaging findings in a 11 year old male child. There are many developmental anomalies of kidney Various types of congenital renal abnormalities such as renal agenesis, ectopic or horseshoe kidney can be encountered where one of the most rarest presentation with a single ureter on pancake kidney is encountered in number that count in fingers worldwide.Med Phoenix Vol.2(1) July 2017, 71-73

Electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis (EDXA) are found to be very useful tools for identification of etiologic agents in pneumoconiosis or interstitial pulmonary disorders. Pulmonary interstitial fibrosis and granulomatosis are frequently associated with occupational and environmental pollution. Numerous reports of pneumoconiosis in various occupations such as coal and gold miners are presented in the literature. However, there is no known documented case of pulmonary changes in workers in the sandpaper industry. This study reports a rare case of pulmonary granulomatosis containing deposits from abrasives of sandpaper diagnosed by using EDXA.

Chronic pyelonephritis is one of the most common diseases of the kidney and accounts for a sizeable number of cases of renal insufficiency in man, however its pathogenesis requires further elucidation. Transmission electron microscopy may serve as a uniquely effective means of observing details of the nature of this disease. The present paper describes preliminary results of an ultrastructural study of chronic pyelonephritis in Macaca arctoides (stumptail monkey). The infection was induced in these experiments in a retrograde fashion by means of a unilateral catheterization of the left ureter whereby an innoculum of 10 cc of broth containing approximately 2 billion E. coli per cc and radio-opaque dye were injected under pressure (mimicing vesico-ureteric reflux).
