Highway is an important channel to connect regional economic development, and is an indispensable part of modern transportation system. In view of the extensive nature of highway cover space and the existence of diversified construction environment, climate and geological influence in highway construction, soft soil foundation is one of the more typical geological forms. With wide distribution in our country, seen as a big difficulty, highway construction technology and directly affect the quality of highway construction, cost, if not properly handled, will cause the soft soil foundation highway engineering structure is not stable, prone to accidents in use. In this paper, we study the treatment of soft soil foundation in highway construction, and put forward some reasonable Suggestions.

The application of vacuum preloading for soft foundation treatment in grain storage is introduced from its principle,design,construction and the inspections. Its obvious effect is proved by example. The east coast of China is the most developed economical area and major grain and oil manufacturers. Many grain and oil depots have been established. However, in the places where the depots located, soil is soft dirt with low strength grade, high compressibility, small permeability and high possibility of plastic flow, has increased difficulties of grain and oil depots foundation construction. Without enough knowledge of soft soil and lacking of proper foundation construction method and good technology, depots may slip due to foundation’s erosion, and big settlement. If the structure slips, equipments for aeration, dehumidifier, antivirus equipment cannot work well. Based on the statement above, reasonable and effective methods for soft soil foundation work is the key point for construction of high quality and high standard grain and oil depots. This paper mainly discussed when we do depots construction work on the soft soil foundation, exact calculation, construction method and result test of fasten method for the soft foundation under the vacuum circumstance of preloading.

On the basis of engineering project in coastland, this article analyzes the construction technology and reinforcement mechanism of vacuum preloading reinforces soft soil foundation. By indoor soil test of Reinforcement of soil before and after processing, comparing the change of the physical and shear strength index, verify vacuum preloading method underwater is effective means in handing soft ground and provide some experience for regional development and promotion of underwater application of vacuum preloading technology.

Uneven settlement widely occurs on the roadbed under urban viaducts in operation. Previous studies focused on the effect of soft soil foundation on the uneven settlement of roadbed, without considering the phenomenon and mechanism of uneven settlement at the junction of pier cap and the roadbed under viaduct. The interaction is now considered between the buried depth of cap, the relative stiffness between cap and road subgrade, and the uneven settlement of roadbed. Using the Midas GTS NX software, a numerical analysis model of the deformation of roadbed under viaduct is constructed to study the influence of viaduct cap foundation on the uneven settlement of roadbed under viaduct. The simulated results of uneven settlement of roadbed caused by urban viaduct pier cap show that (1) when the buried depth of cap exceeds 2.35 m, with the increase of buried depth, the fall of roadbed settlement tends to decrease, but the decreased amount is not significant. Considering the factors such as construction cost and complications of construction technology, it is suggested that the best buried depth of cap is about 2.5 m. (2) The fall of roadbed settlement decreases with the decrease of relative stiffness between cap and roadbed. When the relative stiffness exceeds 6.3, the decreasing trend of settlement fall is not significant. The concrete roadbed should have more stiffness in order to reduce the settlement.

On the basis of engineering project using underwater vacuum preloading method to strengthening the soft foundation, under the specific geological conditionsthis article analyzes the construction technology and reinforcement mechanism of underwater vacuum preloading of the soft soil foundation. By indoor soil test of Reinforcement of soil before and after processing, compared the change and improve of soil shear strength indexes before and after the reinforcement, it is verified that the underwater vacuum preloading method is a effective mean in handing soft ground, and can be further promoted as a means of handling soft ground along the coastal area of China.

<p>The quality of highways and bridges’ foundation construction influences the overall quality of the projects directly. The soft soil layer shall be investigated in advance during construction in order to analyse and identify the specific reinforcement and processing approaches. The cost, processed effects and safety issues shall be considered prior to reinforcement. Different reinforcement approaches can be used in order to save the cost and ensure the quality of soft soil foundation reinforcement. This paper discusses the preparation of soft soil foundation construction and the technology involved in the construction of highways and bridges on soft soil foundation. It is expected that the study could provide some references to professionals.  </p>
