Performance Analysis of DSDV Routing Protocol Vanet with Transmission Range, Speed and Node Density Effect on Freeway Mobility

MANET is a cluster of nodes that are mobile which transfer the packet within a limited transmission range. It is decentralized and infrastructure less wireless network. Due to host mobility requirement for a robust dynamic routing protocol is needed, since a random and dynamic difference in the network topology is there. This paper presents a performance analysis between two routing protocols AODV and DSR. In terms of throughput, PDR and delay both protocols AODV and DSR is compared.

Entering the information era, the current needs of global community is increasing very rapidly. Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANET) has drawn significant attentions from both industry and academia as an important developmnt of vehicular communication technology. VANET is one of open network and communication media without security mechanism. There are many kinds of security threat that can interrupt data communication in VANET. Wormhole attacks as one of security threat can be a good challenge in VANET security research.  In this paper, we evaluate performance of reactive routing protocol on VANET with wormhole attack scheme. The project is simulated using NS-3 in Ubuntu platform with performance analysis of routing protocol by changing of initial power and node density. We conclude that throughput values are increasing along with the changing of initial power while the delay values are decreasing rapidly. By the changing of node density, the highest delay value is 0.122 ns on 10 nodes condition and 0.215 Mbps for throughput value on 8 nodes condition.

In this paper, the performance analysis of a hierarchical routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) called Location-aware Grid-based Hierarchical Routing (LGHR) is performed. In LGHR, the network comprises nonoverlapping zones and each zone is further partitioned into smaller grids. Although LGHR is a location-aware routing protocol, the routing mechanism is similar to the link-state routing. The protocol overcomes some of the weaknesses of other existing location-based routing protocols such as Zone-based Hierarchical Link State (ZHLS) and GRID. A detailed analysis of the LGHR routing protocol is performed and its performance is compared with both the above-mentioned protocols. The comparison shows that LGHR works better than ZHLS in terms of storage overhead as well as communication overhead, whereas LGHR is more stable than GRID especially in scenarios where wireless nodes are moving with very high velocities.
