scholarly journals Context-Based Movie Searching Using Semantic Web

When searching for a movie, users often remember only the incidents happened in the movie instead of the actors or directors of that movie. However, these searches are not supported in our current movie information systems as data query is usually based on keywords. This research proposes a solution to search and query movies based on the content of the movie or the incidents happened in the movie. In our research, we have analysed and designed some movie representation models suitable for context-based movie searching. We also propose a quadruple-based representation model to resolve the disadvantages in current semantic web’s triple-based model. Our system is capable of processing user requests precisely and has proven to have advantages over current movie information systems.

Increased intelligence in web pages will allow information sharing and discovery to become vastly more efficient .The semantic web is an umbrella term for a series of standards and technologies that will support this development.

In the Web Engineering area, many methods and frameworks to support Web Information Systems (WISs) development have already been proposed. Particularly, the use of frameworks and containerbased architectures is state-of-the-practice. In this chapter, we present a method for designing framework- based WISs called FrameWeb, which defines a standard architecture for framework-based WISs and a modeling language that extends UML to build diagrams that specifically depict framework-related components. Considering that the Semantic Web has been gaining momentum in the last few years, we also propose an extension to FrameWeb, called S-FrameWeb, that aims to support the development of Semantic WISs.

AbstractOntology evolution aims at maintaining an ontology up to date with respect to changes in the domain that it models or novel requirements of information systems that it enables. The recent industrial adoption of Semantic Web techniques, which rely on ontologies, has led to the increased importance of the ontology evolution research. Typical approaches to ontology evolution are designed as multiple-stage processes combining techniques from a variety of fields (e.g., natural language processing and reasoning). However, the few existing surveys on this topic lack an in-depth analysis of the various stages of the ontology evolution process. This survey extends the literature by adopting a process-centric view of ontology evolution. Accordingly, we first provide an overall process model synthesized from an overview of the existing models in the literature. Then we survey the major approaches to each of the steps in this process and conclude on future challenges for techniques aiming to solve that particular stage.
