Abstract. In addition to making our daily life easier with the use of it in different areas of our lives, technology continues to be used increasingly with different applications in many sectors. With the increase of developments in the construction sector, which is the locomotive of many sectors, different applications have been used in the field of modelling. But a building needs many projects such as static, dynamic, electricity, installation, furniture, etc. While these sectors are working with different software specific to them, it has been possible to work on these building projects in a single project by the help of BIM (Building Information Modelling). In addition to its function of projecting new buildings, BIM is an important development and building model in terms of preserving historical buildings, easily creating original building details, and transferring them to future generations without deterioration. The term HBIM (Historic / Heritage Building Information Modelling) has been brought to the literature by using the BIM model in historical buildings. The known history of Safranbolu district of Karabük in Turkey dates back to 3000 years. Safranbolu, which has hosted Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman empires in its history, has buildings that are still preserved with their originality. These structures were built in the pre-Ottoman, the Ottoman and the Republic periods. In our study, historical buildings such as houses, commercial houses, places of worship, inns, baths, fountains, and clock towers will be examined. Building models and distinctive features were examined to classify these structures by modeling them with BIM.While the differentiation of the buildings can be made easily by the building model, the distinguishing features of the houses built in different periods or by different civilizations were also determined in order to distinguish the housing types. While structures such as baths, clock towers or inns are not in a number that can be classified, it has been observed that there are residences, businesses and places of worship that can be classified. It has been determined that it is possible to classify the buildings by their materials, building sizes and shapes, and by their other features that can be used to classify.

AbstractThere are several studies related to the cultural heritage digitization through HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modelling) techniques. Today, BIM (Building Information Modelling) software cannot represent old buildings with complex prominent and particularly detailed architecture perfectly, and multiple software are combined to obtain the buildings’ representation. In this paper, in order to find an alternative way of replicating the complex details present in antique buildings, a new methodology is presented. The methodology is based on a process of direct insertion of various 3D model parts (.obj), into a BIM environment. These 3D model elements, coming from the points cloud segmentation (from UAV and Laser Scanner), are transformed in intelligent objects and interconnected to form the smart model. The methodology allows to represent detail of the objects that make up an element of cultural heritage, although not standardizable in shape. Although this methodology allows to ensure a perfect reconstruction and digital preservation and to represent the different “defects” that represent and make unique a particular object of cultural heritage, it is not however fast compared with the traditional phases of point cloud tracing and more software are necessary for data processing. The proposed methodology was tested on two specific structures’ reconstruction in Reggio Calabria (South Italy): the Sant’Antonio Abate church and the Vitrioli’s portal.

Analyses of gaps in processing of raw laser scanning data and results of bridging the gaps discovered on the basis of usage of laser scanning data for historic building information modelling are presented. Some results of the development of a unified hybrid technology for the processing, storage, access and visualization of combined laser scanning and photography data about historical buildings are analyzed. The first result of the technology application to historical building of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University shows the robustness of the approaches proposed.

With the promotion of fine degree of the heritage building surveying and mapping, building information modelling technology(BIM) begins to be used in surveying and mapping, renovation, recording and research of heritage building, called historical building information modelling(HBIM). The hierarchical frameworks of parametric component library of BIM, belonging to the same type with the same parameters, has the same internal logic with archaeological typology which is more and more popular in the age identification of ancient buildings. Compared with the common materials, 2D drawings and photos, typology with HBIM has two advantages — (1) comprehensive building information both in collection and representation and (2) uniform and reasonable classification criteria This paper will take the information surveying and mapping of Jiayuguan Fortress Town as an example to introduce the field work method of information surveying and mapping based on HBIM technology and the construction of Revit family library. And then in order to prove the feasibility and advantage of HBIM technology used in typology method, this paper will identify the age of Guanghua gate tower, Rouyuan gate tower, Wenchang pavilion and the theater building of Jiayuguan Fortress Town with HBIM technology and typology method.
