South African schools are faced with a serious problem of indiscipline. The available literature reveals that despite the efforts of school administrators and teachers to instil discipline among learners, indiscipline still abounds to the extent of getting out of hand. Based on the intention of this study, a qualitative study was adopted. A qualitative-based study underpinned by the interpretive research paradigm was employed to explore the perspectives of educators in their collaborative roles in managing discipline. The sample comprised twelve educators who were purposively selected from four secondary schools in the Ilembe District, KwaZulu-Natal. A semi-structured interview schedule was used to collect the data. The findings revealed that educators should apply the school code of conduct as a whole-school approach to managing discipline to create meaningful relationships with parents as stakeholders and communicate expected behaviours with learners. It is recommended that in implementing strategies to manage discipline, learners, educators, school managers and the school governing boards of all schools should take a collaborative approach to the management of discipline in secondary schools

Economic and social challenges have obliged many organizations to re-evaluate their manner and approach in maintaining sustainable relationships with their customers. It has been witnessed in most successful organizations that implementation of ethical practices in procurement has ensured customers get the best services. The paper’s objective is to establish the relationship between codes of conduct and procurement management. The study was guided by virtue ethical theory. Correlation research design was used with a target population of 1100 tendering committee in 220 public secondary schools. A sample size was 294 respondents was selected using stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaires were used to collect data. Descriptive and inferential methods were utilized for data analysis and presentation. The findings indicated that code of conduct had significant effect on procurement management (P=0.000<0.05). The study recommended that the schools should continuously review of procurement staff from breach of code of conduct to reduce fraud and corruption. Therefore, there is need to tighten internal control systems in detecting procurement corruption and fraud to ensure integrity in the process. Professional counselling in Nigerian secondary schools was recognised officially by the Federal Government through the National Policy on Education. However, it has experienced a lot of apathy on the part of school principals and administrators. This paper provided a concise account of professional counselling in Nigerian secondary school system with its status, problems and prospects. Prominent among the concerns of this profession in Nigerian school system are; the due recognition of its relevance in the education system, the need for its legal coverage (code of conduct) of the profession and the training of members on modern techniques and skills that are technology based in the 21st century. This is predicated on the premise that effective professional counselling is dependent on knowledge and skills capable of assisting an individual to overcome negative attitude towards personal growth.

The purpose of this study was to analyze performance of teachers of public sector on the base of code of conduct. The objectives of the study were to analyze knowledge, disposition and performance of secondary school teachers of code of conduct as per National Professional Standards i.e code of conduct. It was proposed that teachers of selected schools have significant level of knowledge, disposition & performance of code of conduct. Out of 19,265 secondary school teachers of province Punjab, 401 teachers were selected randomly. Out of 3,601 headmasters of secondary schools 222 headmasters were selected randomly. Two questionnaires were used for collection of data from selected secondary school teachers & headmasters of secondary schools. Data was collected from selected districts with the help of association of scholars. Data was analyzed by applying Chi-Square with SPSS software. Findings showed that secondary schools teachers have adequate knowledge, disposition and performance about code of conduct but they don’t keep themselves update professionally by recent educational activities. School education department should launch training programs about knowledge, teachers should improve disposition and perform their duties well regarding National Professional Standards (NPS) i.e code of conduct.

This article provides a brief overview of forty years of guidance counselling in New Zealand secondary schools, at a time that has seen New Zealand move from a welfare state to a neoliberal one. By focussing primarily on official policy and its impact on the place of guidance counsellors, it identifies five phases in the development of this small, but important section of semi-visible “specialist teachers”. The article also provides a broad picture of the socio-political-historical contexts that supported the emergence of assisted pilot guidance counsellor schemes at the end of 1959, and their development so that there were permanent places in all secondary schools by 1988. It also indicates some of the threats in the neoliberal policy environment of the 1990s.
