This study proposes a new modification of the homotopy perturbation method. A new parameter alpha is introduced into the homotopy equation in order to improve the results and accuracy. An optimal analysis identifies the parameter alpha, aimed at improving the solutions. A comparative analysis of the proposed method reveals that the new method presents results with higher degree of accuracy and precision than the classic homotopy perturbation method. Absolute error analysis shows the convenience of the proposed method, providing much smaller errors. Two examples are presented: Duffing and Van der pol’s nonlinear oscillators to demonstrate the efficiency, accuracy, and applicability of the new method.

The paper analyzes the fractal dimension of the network and its use for telecommunication networks research and planning. The analysis of the "cluster growing" method for assessing the fractal dimension is given and a new method for assessing the fractal dimensionof anetwork is proposed, based onassessing the network connectivity by finding the shortest paths. The article shows that the assessment of the fractal dimension of the network is an additional characteristic that reflects the topological properties of the network. Comparative analysis of the proposed method and "cluster growing" is given. The results obtained make it possible to select a method and obtain estimates of the fractal dimension of the network, depending on its features.

A new method for estimating the parameter noncoherent signal/noise K of ionospheric signal is offered. A comparative analysis is carrying out. This new method exceeds an order of magnitude widely used standard one by analytical (relative) accuracy of determining a parameter K. It has the same order as the well-known coherent methodology.

In order to measure capture performance of the seeker in the typical terminal guidance scene under HPM damage effect, the paper proposes a new method to model the dynamic capture state in different ballistic position. The proposed missile-target geometry count can be used to process multiple data generated in multiple Monte Carlo simulations under the same scene, which facilitates capture performance comparative analysis between different scenes. Simulations validate proposed counting measure, so that it can be applied for measuring the performance of missile capture.

The article presents a new method for scheduling channel resources in SpaceWire onboard networks with support for TDMA technology. The network features based on the SpaceWire network standard and the STP-ISS transport protocol, which provides TDMA technology in the form of the «Scheduling» mechanism, were considered. This mechanism is used in networks with the goal of providing determinism, resolving conflicts and blocks when two or more devices are simultaneously trying to transmit data, occupying a limited channel resource. A comparative analysis of existing methods and algorithms for scheduling channel resources to design a schedule table was conducted. A new method of scheduling channel resources in SpaceWire onboard networks was presented and substantiated. A performance evaluation was carried out using the parameters significant for the space industry. It demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed method.

AbstractIn a recent publication, Li et al. introduced LeafCutter, a new method for detecting and quantifying differential splicing of RNA from RNASeq data. In this work, Li et al. first compared LeafCutter to existing methods, then used it for a study of splicing variations and sQTL analysis from a large set of GTEx samples. While the study was elaborate and comprehensive, we want to highlight several issues with the comparative analysis performed by Li et al. We argue these issues created an inaccurate and misleading representation of other tools, namely MAJIQ and rMATS. More broadly, we believe the points we raise regarding the comparative analysis by Li et al. are representative of general issues we all, as authors, editors, and reviewers, are faced with and must address in the current times of fast paced genomics and computational research.
