Beekeeping is an important activity for the country, generating jobs and income for several rural families. However, the lack of technical assistance reduces the chances of success in production. So our objective with this work was to create a chatbot capable of taking technical assistance to small producers. We created the chatbee and delivered it to beekeepers and small producers who intend to enter the area, and at the end of 90 days we sent a form with some questions to be answered, and from the answers we realized that the function of bringing technical assistance was carried out by the chatbot.

Abstract A large percentage of Colombia’s economic activity corresponds to the agricultural sector. In this sector, plantains rank second in production and planted area. However this crop is affected by different diseases, among which The Black Sigatoka stands out, caused by the fungus Mycosphaerella fijiensis. The disease highly reduces the production level of the crop and although there are prevention measures that allow reducing the incidence of the disease, there’s a lack of support for small producers in Colombia, who do not have technological tools to support the disease detection processes. This article outlines the development of a support system for the detection of black sigatoka using digital images. For this, a characterization process of the agricultural user is carried out, then, a machine learning methodology is implemented to classify the disease on a mobile device. The support system is validated through laboratory tests, field tests and the feedback from the agricultural user.

The Acai, a fruit of the Acai tree (Euterpe oleracea Mart.), is one of the main foods consumed by the riverside communities in the Brazilian Amazon. In addition, it has become the main source of income of these small producers as its consumption has widely expanded since the 1990s due to the recognition of its properties as an energetic and functional food. In order to analyze the production system and the socioeconomic changes that occurred in rural communities whose economical support is from the management of the Acai tree, a case study was carried out in two communities on the island of Mamangal, in the municipality of Igarapé-Miri, in the state of Pará, Brazilian Amazon. Fifty-two semistructured questionnaires were applied to the Acai farming families in these communities located in the municipality in the largest Brazilian producer of this fruit. The main transformations observed in the assessed communities, especially since the last decade, were influenced by the access to electric energy and the expansion of income from the Acai that made possible the expansion of the acquisition of durable consumer goods that even contributed to diversifying the diet of those farmers. Some of the difficulties faced by Acai production are the lack of technical assistance and rural extension services as well in addition to the strong dependence of the communities on the income generated by the Acai.

Abstract Viticulture is a recent activity in Rio de Janeiro, which has been well adapted to the edaphoclimatic conditions of the north and northwest regions of Rio de Janeiro. The aim of this study was to characterize the main socioenvironmental and technological aspects of grape production in these regions. Data were collected in 2017 and 2018, from the application of questionnaires to 16 grape producers in the regions, for descriptive statistical analysis and preparation of tables and graphs. In both regions small producers are the main investors. Most of them do not participate in associations and have technical assistance in particular. The region has favorable edaphoclimatic characteristics, mainly for the cultivation of rustic grapes, predominantly cultivar ‘Niagara Rosada’. Disease control is carried out in a preventive manner, with eleven applications ranging from sprouting to days before harvest. The regions present more than one harvest per year, having supply in the season and national off season. These results may support information on the characteristics of Rio de Janeiro’s viticulture, direct incentives for the activity and serve as a basis for further research, such as planning programs for grape production areas.

The university is an institution with a social commitment that trains professionals in different fields. In addition to the substantive functions, referred to higher education as teaching, research and dissemination of culture, bonding arises as an increasingly important activity, which is fundamental because it is associated with strengthening the productive and social sectors. Under this premise, the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco in Mexico has a strategic axis focused on linking to development in which different programs operate, including those of social inclusion for the benefit of communities in the region. As a consequence, the present investigation of qualitative and exploratory scope is developed under the case study design, with the objective of explaining how community entrepreneurship can be consolidated from the academy fostering social bonding; documenting an institutional project that was favorable both for the institution through social ties with Tabasco communities, and for a group of small producers of the entity. The community project was developed through an alliance between students, research professors and entrepreneurship experts. The results showed that the link is an effective instrument to strengthen the relevance of the university, to meet social needs, support government agencies to make their programs more efficient and effective, as well as feedback the training processes of the university itself, for the benefit of different communities of the state of Tabasco in Mexico.
