Deanship of scientific research established by the King Abdulaziz University provides some research programs for its staff and researchers and encourages them to submit proposals in this regard. Distinct research study (DRS) is one of these programs. It is available all the year and the King Abdulaziz University (KAU) staff can submit more than one proposal at the same time up to three proposals. The rules of the DSR program are simple and easy so it contributes in increasing the international rank of KAU. The authors are offered financial and moral reward after publishing articles from these proposals in Thomson-ISI journals. In this paper, multiplayer perceptron (MLP) artificial neural network (ANN) is employed to determine the factors that have more effect on the number of ISI published articles. The proposed study used real data of the finished projects from 2011 to April 2019.

The formation and growth of nanosized CaF2crystallites by heat treatment of an oxyfluoride glass of composition 7.65Na2O–7.69K2O–10.58CaO–12.5CaF2–5.77Al2O3–55.8SiO2(wt%) was investigated using anomalous small-angle X-ray scattering (ASAXS). A recently developed vacuum version of the hybrid pixel detector Pilatus 1M was used for the ASAXS measurements below the CaK-edge of 4038 eV down to 3800 eV. ASAXS investigation allows the determination of structural parameters such as size and size distribution of nanoparticles and characterizes the spatial distribution of the resonant element, Ca. The method reveals quantitatively that the growing CaF2crystallites are surrounded by a shell of lower electron density. This depletion shell of growing thickness hinders and finally limits the growth of CaF2crystallites. Moreover, in samples that were annealed for 10 h and more, additional very small heterogeneities (1.6 nm diameter) were found.

Section topographs recorded at different spatial locations and at different rocking angles of a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) crystal allow three-dimensional maps of the local angular-dependent scattering power to be obtained. This is performed with a direct reconstruction from the intensity distribution on such topographs. The maps allow the extraction of information on local structural parameters such as size, form and internal mosaic spread of crystalline domains. This data analysis leads to a new method for the characterization of mosaic crystals. Perspectives and limits of applicability of this method are discussed.

The calculation, modeling and experimental research of steel-concrete tubular elements made of thin-walled galvanized sheet metal and lightweight concrete have been carried out. The proposed type of structures can be used as a separate structure in the form of a column or a pillar, and one of the types of the reinforcement of a certain light structure. The basic technological and constructive requirements for manufacturing and further exploitation of structures are given. For determination of actual work’s indexes of constructions experimental research of standards are undertaken, and recommendations on adjustment of well-known calculation formulas of close constructions as for structural parameters are given. The design (modeling) was performed in MSC / Nastran software. An analysis of the proposed structures use is carried out with the corresponding conclusions.

The construction a feasible solution set with a given accuracy is a main problem in multicriteria optimization and modeling. In order to construct the feasible solution set, a method called the Parameter Space Investigation has been created and successfully integrated into various fields of industry, science, and technology. Multicriteria modeling (identification) is a new direction that is of great value in applications. In the most common usage, the term “identification” means construction of the mathematical model of a system and determination of the parameters (design variables) of the model. The construction a feasible solution set with a given accuracy is a common way for solving multicriteria optimization and modeling problems. The issues of the estimation of the Parameter Space Investigation method convergence rate, the approximation of the feasible solution set are described. Besides these, the multicriteria identification problems of mechanical systems are discussed too.
