Deanship of scientific research established by the King Abdulaziz University provides some research programs for its staff and researchers and encourages them to submit proposals in this regard. Distinct research study (DRS) is one of these programs. It is available all the year and the King Abdulaziz University (KAU) staff can submit more than one proposal at the same time up to three proposals. The rules of the DSR program are simple and easy so it contributes in increasing the international rank of KAU. The authors are offered financial and moral reward after publishing articles from these proposals in Thomson-ISI journals. In this paper, multiplayer perceptron (MLP) artificial neural network (ANN) is employed to determine the factors that have more effect on the number of ISI published articles. The proposed study used real data of the finished projects from 2011 to April 2019.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) has been the leading cause of death worldwide over the past 10 years. Researchers have been using several data mining techniques to help healthcare professionals diagnose heart disease. The neural network (NN) can provide an excellent solution to identify and classify different diseases. The artificial neural network (ANN) methods play an essential role in recognizes diseases in the CAD. The authors proposed multilayer perceptron neural network (MLPNN) among one hidden layer neuron (MLP) and four hidden layers neurons (P-MLP)-based highly accurate artificial neural network (ANN) method for the classification of the CAD dataset. Therefore, the ten-fold cross-validation (T-FCV) method, P-MLP algorithms, and base classifiers of MLP were employed. The P-MLP algorithm yielded very high accuracy (86.47% in CAD-56 and 98.35% in CAD-59 datasets) and F1-Score (90.36% in CAD-56 and 98.83% in CAD-59 datasets) rates, which have not been reported simultaneously in the MLP.

This paper discusses development and application of a decomposition neural network rule extraction algorithm for nonlinear regression problems. The algorithm is called the piece-wise linear artificial neural network or PWL-ANN algorithm. The objective of the algorithm is to “open up” the black box of a neural network model so that rules in the form of linear equations are generated by approximating the sigmoid activation functions of the hidden neurons in an artificial neural network (ANN). The preliminary results showed that the algorithm gives high fidelity and satisfactory results on sixteen of the nineteen tested datasets. By analyzing the values of R2 given by the PWL approximation on the hidden neurons and the overall output, it is evident that in addition to accurate approximation of each individual node of a given ANN model, there are more factors affecting the fidelity of the PWL-ANN algorithm Nevertheless, the algorithm shows promising potential for domains when better understanding about the problem is needed.

The experimental determination of various properties of diesel-biodiesel mixtures is very time consuming as well as tedious process. Any tool helpful in estimation of these properties without experimentation can be of immense utility. In present work, other tools of determination of properties of diesel-biodiesel blends were tried. A traditional statistical technique of linear regression (principle of least squares) was used to estimate the flash point, fire point, density and viscosity of diesel and biodiesel mixtures. A set of seven neural network architectures, three training algorithms along with ten different sets of weight and biases were examined to choose best Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to predict the above-mentioned properties of dieselbiodiesel mixtures. The performance of both of the traditional linear regression and ANN techniques were then compared to check their validity to predict the properties of various mixtures of diesel and biodiesel. <p>Massive information has been transmitted through complicated network connections around the world. Thus, providing a protected information system has fully consideration of many private and governmental institutes to prevent the attackers. The attackers block the users to access a particular network service by sending a large amount of fake traffics. Therefore, this article demonstrates two-classification models for accurate intrusion detection system (IDS). The first model develops the artificial neural network (ANN) of multilayer perceptron (MLP) with one hidden layer (MLP1) based on distributed denial of service (DDoS). The MLP1 has 38 input nodes, 11 hidden nodes, and 5 output nodes. The training of the MLP1 model is implemented with NSL-KDD dataset that has 38 features and five types of requests. The MLP1 achieves detection accuracy of 95.6%. The second model MLP2 has two hidden layers. The improved MLP2 model with the same setup achieves an accuracy of 2.2% higher than the MLP1 model. The study shows that the MLP2 model provides high classification accuracy of different request types.</p>

Simultaneaous spectrophotometric determination of clorsulon (CLO) and invermectin (IVE) in commercial veterinary formulation was performed by using the artificial neural network (ANN) based on the back propagation algorithm. In order to find the optimal ANN model various topogical networks were tested by using different hidden layers. A logsig input layer, a hidden layer of neurons using the logsig transfer function and an output layer of two neurons with purelin transfer function was found suitable for basic configuration for ANN model. A calibration set consisting of CLO and IVE in calibration set was prepared in the concentration range of 1-23 g/mL and 1-14 g/mL, repectively. This calibration set contains 36 different synthetic mixtures. A prediction set was prepared in order to evaluate the recovery of the investigated approach ANN chemometric calibration was applied to the simultaneous analysis of CLO and IVE in compounds in a commercial veterinary formulation. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method is appropriate for the routine quality control of the above mentioned active compounds.

In this paper, we propose a new control-based the neural network and bootstrap method to get the predictive duty cycle for the maximum power point of hybrid Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind Turbine generator system (WTG) connected to 380 V grid. The neural network is designed to be controller by learning the data control of multi-input DC/ DC converter. The artificial neural network (ANN) needs many data for training then the ANN can give the predictive duty cycle to multi input DC/ DC converter. To get much data, we can use the bootstrap method to generate data from the real data. From Photovoltaic characteristic, we can get 344 real data after the data are made by bootstrap method we can get 8000 data. The 8000 data of PV can be used for training artificial neural network (ANN) of PV system. From wind turbine characteristic we can get 348 real data after the data are made by bootstrap method we can get 6000 data. The 6000 data of WT can be used for training artificial neural network of WT system. This new control has two responsibilities, are to shift the voltage of PV and WTG to optimum condition and to maintain the stability of grid system. From the simulation results those can be seen that the power of hybrid PV / WTG system using MPPT controller is in maximum power and has constant voltage and constant frequency of grid system.

A self-balancing type of robot works on the principle of maintaining the balance of the load's position to remains in the center. As a consequence of this principle, the driver can go forward reverse the vehicle by leaning in a particular direction. One of the factors affecting the control model is the weight of the driver. A control system that has been designed will not be able to balance the system if the driver using the vehicle exceeds or less than the predetermined weight value. The main objective of the study is to develop a semi-adaptive control system by implementing an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm that can estimate the driver's weight and use this information to reset the gain used in the control system. The experimental results show that the Artificial Neural Network can be used to estimate the weight of the driver's body by using 50-ms-duration of tilt sensor data to categorize into three defined classes that have been set. The ANN algorithm provides a high accuracy given by the results of the confusion matrix and the precision calculations, which show 99%.
