This paper is based on three collections of Ptiliidae from Sarawak totalling more than 2000 specimens made by staff and affiliates of the Natural History Museum, London, between March–July 1978. One new genus Niptella gen. nov with its type species Niptella gutta gen. et sp. nov. and 24 new species are described and figured: Sindosium collinsi sp. nov., Bambara hammondi sp. nov., Bambara subtortuosa sp. nov., Bambara tortuosa sp. nov., Erro brookei sp. nov., Cissidium globulum sp. nov., Cissidium longum sp. nov., Cissidium marshallae sp. nov., Cissidium pauxillum sp. nov., Cissidium subfoveolatum sp. nov., Cissidium triangulum sp. nov., Discheramocephalus nigritus sp. nov., Kuschelidium sarawakense sp. nov., Ptinella alisonae sp. nov., Acrotrichis acuta sp. nov., Acrotrichis belli sp. nov., Acrotrichis bidens sp. nov., Acrotrichis geiseri sp. nov., Acrotrichis globosa sp. nov., Acrotrichis hanskii sp. nov., Acrotrichis muluensis sp. nov., Acrotrichis plaga sp. nov., Storicricha resticula sp. nov., Storicricha umbella sp. nov. The following new leafhopper taxa of the deltocephaline tribe Scaphytopiini are described: Grammacephalus furcatus Dai & Zhang sp. nov. from China, and Sikhamani Viraktamath & Webb gen. nov. with type species S. delicatula Viraktamath & Webb sp. nov. from Nepal and China. Detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations of the new species are given and a checklist to the species of Grammacephalus Haupt is provided. The type specimens are deposited in the Entomological Museum of Northwest A&F University, The Natural History Museum, London, the B.P. Bishop Museum, Hawaii, U.S.A. and the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India.

The bethylid genus Foenobethylus Kieffer, 1913, unstudied for almost a century, is redescribed and assigned to the subfamily Pristocerinae based on a preliminary phylogenetic assessment. Four new species: F. bidentatus n. sp. (Brunei), F. elongatus n. sp. (Malaysia), F. emiliacasellae n. sp. (Thailand), and F. thomascokeri n. sp. (Malaysia) are described, based on males only, as females remain unrecognised in this genus. All specimens are deposited in the Department of Entomology, the Natural History Museum, London, U.K. The type species F. gracilis Kieffer (Philippines), although unrepresented by any traceable specimen, can be distinguished from these species based on the original description. A key to the five known species of Foenobethylus is provided.

Yunnanosticta gen. nov. in the platystictid subfamily Sinostictinae is described from Yunnan, China. The genotype is Yunnanosticta wilsoni sp. nov., described here (holotype ♂ from Tongbiguan, Yingjiang County, Dehong Dai & Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan, China, 23 vi 2015, leg. H.M. Zhang, to be deposited in the Natural History Museum, London). Yunnanosticta cyaneocollaris sp. nov. (holotype ♂ from Tongbiguan, Yingjiang County, Dehong Dai & Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan, China, 23 vi 2015, leg. H.M. Zhang, to be deposited in the Natural History Museum, London) is also described.

A New Species

A little herb from central Peru is recognised as a new species of a new genus. Centenariarupacquiana belongs to the tribe Eupatorieae, subtribe Piqueriinae. It has asymmetrical corollas with two inner lobes smaller, a flat and epaleaceous receptacle and the presence of pappus. In Peru, Centenaria is related to the genera Ferreyrella and Ellenbergia, but Ferreyrella is different by having no pappus and a paleate receptacle; and on the other hand, Ellenbergia is different by having symmetrical corollas.

Bacchus of the Coleoptera Section of the Natural History Museum, London (NHM), and others, in Sabah (Borneo) 28 August – 7 November 1977. Ptiliidae collected in Africa (Ivory Coast, Mozambique, São Tomé, Sierra Leone) 2015–2017 under the auspices of the African Natural History Research Trust and the Natural History Museum, London, are determined to 24 species, 9 of which are new to science: Actidium loma sp. n., Actidium milesi sp. n., Actidium takanoi sp. n., Actidium acutum sp. n., Erro goffi sp. n., Ptilium maputense sp. n., Cissidium aristophanousi Darby (in a separate paper in press), Ptinella clio sp. n., and Ptinella euterpe sp. n.. New records are provided for Ptenidium nitidum Heer, Bambara frosti Dybas, Bambara magnifica Darby, Bambara joannis Vuillet, Ptiliola semitaria Darby, Nephanes marchali (Vuillet), Nephanes plurijugosus Darby, Nephanes titan (Newman), Acrotrichis africana Johnson, Acrotrichis africanoides Johnson, Acrotrichis capensis Johnson, Acrotrichis cephalotes Allibert, Acrotrichis discoloroides Johnson, Acrotrichis setigera Johnson and Acrotrichis tersa Johnson. The Swiss arachnologist Ehrenfried Schenkel published three large works concerning Chinese spiders and other arachnids (Schenkel 1936, 1953, 1963) in which he described over two hundred species belonging to different families. Material from the first work (Schenkel 1936) is preserved in the Natural History Museum in Stockholm and was partly redescribed by several authors. The same is true for the spiders described in 1963. Most of the material from this publication is in Paris and has been partly revised. The first and last papers were published in the Stockholm and Paris museum proceedings. The second paper (Schenkel 1953) appeared in the Boletim do Museu Nacional (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), while the material was cited as being from the “Museum Hoangho-Peiho” in Tientsin [= Huanghe (Yellow River) and Baihe (Haihe River) and Tianjin in modern English respectively]. This work dealt with 59 species of spiders, harvestmen and pseudoscorpions. Forty of them were described as new species and six as a new subspecies. One of the harvestmen species was described in a new genus. Forty new taxa belong to spiders, one to pseudoscorpions and five to harvestmen. All specimens were collected in central and northern China. Several new species were described from the center of Beijing. None of the types from this publication have since been studied. While trying to find some of the types two decades ago, the first author heard from some colleagues that the material was destroyed during shipment back to China.

Some 2,000 Ptiliidae collected in the North and South Islands of New Zealand in 1983/1984 by Peter Hammond of the Natural History Museum, London, are determined to 34 species, four of which are new to the country. As there are very few previous records, most from the Auckland district of North Island, the Hammond collection provides much new distributional data. The three new species: Nellosana insperatus sp. n., Notoptenidium flavum sp. n., and Notoptenidium johnsoni sp. n., are described and figured; the genus Ptiliodes is moved from Acrotrichinae to Ptiliinae, and Ptenidium formicetorum Kraatz recorded as a new introduction. Information is provided to aid separation of the new species from those previously recorded.

This paper provides a comprehensive check list of Nolinae species recorded in Hong Kong, China based on the collections of the second author, Dr. Roger Kendrick and the Natural History Museum, London. The checklist comprises 30 species.  Two of them are new to science and described here as new species (Spininola kendricki sp. n., and Hampsonola ceciliae sp. n.). Misidentification of the female paratype of Spininola nepali László, Ronkay & Ronkay, 2014 is revealed and the true female of S. nepali is illustrated with its genitalia described here for the first time. The hitherto unknown female of S. armata László, Ronkay & Witt, 2010 is also illustrated here for the first time. All species recorded from Hong Kong are illustrated together with their genitalia on 54 colour and 46 black and white diagnostic figures.
