Loss of an eye or any body part has an intimidating and crippling effect on the psychosocial well-being of the patient. Although the artificial prosthesis cannot restore the function, it can highly improve the patient’s esthetics and help them regain their psychological confidence. Literature has advocated various rehabilitation modalities including empirical use of stock shells, modifying stock eyes, custom-made ocular prostheses, ocular implants, etc. A custom-made ocular prosthesis, among all the techniques, shows improved adaptation to tissue bed, distributes uniform pressure, provides a more esthetic and precise result, and is relatively cost-effective. This case report explores a relatively comprehensive method of custom ocular prosthesis fabrication for an ocular defect with a satisfactory outcome.

Vitriolage is an extreme form of violence in Bangladesh. The alarming increase in its frequency is a cause of concern. Violence against woman within South Asia includes rape and sexual abuse, trafficking, prostitution, domestic violence, dowry related deaths and psychological abuse. The reported case is of a 25 years old lady affected by acid burn in her face and adjoining part of the head during night while she was sleeping. On medicolegal point of view, the injury was homicidal in nature to run away without having a motive to kill the person. We should create public consciousness against this sort of brutal act. Orbital teratoma is a rare tumor composed of tissue derived from the three germinal layers, it usually occurs in otherwise healthy newborns as a fluctuating mass in orbit, with extreme proptosis and periorbital deformity. There are few reports in literature about this topic; we present a case report with severe stretching and deformity of periocular tissue, which underwent enucleation and careful removal of the tumor, properly sparing the eyelids and other structures in the anophthalmic cavity to fit an ocular prosthesis. It did well, improving the patient’s cosmetic appearance and preserving his orbitofacial development. Even though in many cases it is not possible to preserve visual function in patients with congenital orbital teratoma, it is equally important to achieve the best possible cosmetic result.

Although a causal relationship between alcohol and violence is established, the actual number of alcohol related violence are seldom reported. Consumption of alcohol is part of ritual or ceremony in indigenous communities in Nepal. However, alcohol related domestic violence are rarity in Nepalese scenario. This may be because alcohol related domestic assaults and violence are usually 'secreted' and seldom published. We present a case of father-son alcohol related aggression for its unusualness of site and pattern.

Objectives: This paper draws attention to the mental health impact of coercive practice of dowry demands, associated with domestic violence (DV) in an immigrant woman. Methods: This study was based on a case report and selective literature review. Results: This case history illustrates the serious mental health impacts of repeated emotional and physical trauma inflicted by a husband who was dissatisfied with his wife’s dowry. Bio-psycho-social / cultural aspects of mental health treatments needed to be augmented with attention to safety, advocacy, and access to support networks. Conclusions: Cultural factors are important determinants of mental illness. Psychiatrists need to be aware of DV and dowry when treating immigrant women.
