Application of FACT in the academic context to improve the health in high school students

There is growing evidence showing the efficacy of contextual or third-generation therapies in various contexts and clinical conditions. In large groups of first- and second-year high school students (n= 112), the present study compares the efficacy of applying a program based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) versus a combined program using strategies from Functional-Analytical Psychotherapy (FAP), resulting in a so-called FACT approach. The purpose of this intervention was to extract the most relevant processes underpinning clinical changes to design training programs based on contextual behavioral science to improve students' health. The results indicated that both interventions produced statistically significant improvement in the health of the students. The program combined with FACT was superior in the self-concept variable. The implications of both brief programs to improve students' health in short periods are discussed on the basis of a behavioral methodology adapted to the academic context.

The specifics of family losses in pediatric oncology and the dynamics of grief during analytical psychotherapy in pediatric oncology patients who lost one or both parents

Relevance. The experience of loss by a child receiving antitumor treatment is a factor in the development of psychopathologies.Purpose to study is to study the specifics of family losses in pediatric oncology; to trace the dynamics of grief during analytical psychotherapy in children who have lost one or both parents.Materials and methods. The study of the specifics of family losses was carried out by the method of retrospective analysis of the dynamics of family relations in 1298 families. To study the dynamics of grief in the process of psychotherapy, 13 children aged 3 to 13 years who lost one or both parents were selected.Results. Antitumor treatment of the child is accompanied by prolonged separation from one, less often both parents, and, in 13.3 %, the loss of a mother or father as a result of a divorce/death. Burning in all the examined children was complicated with the appearance of a number of somatic, emotional-behavioral, mental symptoms that worsen their physical condition and psycho-emotional status. As a result of psychotherapy, the child can react to suppressed negative emotions, which leads to the disappearance of symptoms of grief.Conclusion. The interaction of pediatricians, clinical psychologists, social work specialists is productive in order to provide timely psychotherapeutic assistance to the child before the manifestation of symptoms of complicated grief manifestation.

Evaluation of violence against women in the context of analytic psychotherapyKadına yönelik şiddetin analitik psikoterapi bağlamında değerlendirilmesi

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate violence against women, one of the common problems of the society, especially in the context of analytical psychotherapy, based on some recent events in the media. For this purpose, two cases involving violence against women were discussed with the basic approach of analytical psychotherapy. In the study, the emotions, thoughts and behaviors of violent men were tried to be explained based on the concepts of conscious, unconscious, complex and archetypes of analytical psychotherapy. As a result, in this study, some clues about the points that psychological counselors should take into consideration in the psychological treatment of men who resort to violence against women.Extended English abstract is in the end of PDF (TURKISH) file. ÖzetBu çalışmada toplumun yaygın sorunlarından biri olan kadına yönelik şiddetin özellikle son zamanlarda medyada yer alan bazı olaylar temel alınarak analitik psikoterapi bağlamında değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla kadına yönelik şiddeti içeren iki olay, analitik psikoterapinin temel yaklaşımıyla ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada şiddet uygulayan erkeklerin duygu, düşünce ve davranışları analitik psikoterapinin bilinç, bilinçdışı, kompleks ve arketip kavramları esas alınarak açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak bu çalışmada kadına yönelik şiddet uygulayan erkeklerin psikolojik tedavilerinde psikolojik danışmanların göz önünde bulundurmaları gereken noktalara ilişkin bir takım ipuçları ortaya çıkmıştır.
