This paper focuses on the role of the Internet in empowering social work to intervene in ageing-in-place services for the disabled elderly in terms of time, space, and resources. Through the practical analysis of home care service providers, the advantages and characteristics of the “Internet” for ageing-in-place services for the disabled elderly are identified, as well as some of the problems that exist in the current intelligent home care service platform. This paper proposes to improve and optimize the “Internet+” by fully enhancing the technical empowerment of the Internet, improving the integration and spanning of space, and giving full play to the role of social work on the Internet. This paper proposes to improve and optimize the “Internet+” elderly home care services for the disabled, so as to solve to a certain extent the practical problems faced by the “Internet+” elderly home care services in the early stage of development. The significance of this paper is that, through the study of the “Internet+” home care services for the elderly with disabilities, the process of the services is sorted out and summarized, and suggestions and measures are put forward for its shortcomings, providing practical methods and feasible paths for future generations, which are of great significance for other social work agencies using Internet tools.

Pressure ulcers (PU) are one of the most frequent hazards of long-term bedridden patients. With the continuous increase of aging, the number of long-term bedridden disabled and semi-disabled elderly people is increasing. At the same time, there is a serious shortage of professional pressure ulcer nursing staff. There is also a lack of flexible turning equipment for PU prevention. The research in the field of pressure ulcer prevention at home and abroad is carried out steadily, and the equipment for turning over by pneumatic or mechanical drive is developed. However, these devices often have insurmountable defects, such as complex structure, cost constraints, difficult control, weak body feeling, and so on. Under these circumstances, a set of pneumatic turnover mattresses based on clinical nursing methods have been developed. The mattress is divided into a turnover area and two support areas. The turnover airbag is linked with the support airbag to improve the patient’s comfort when passively turning over. The turnover amplitude and interval can be adjusted to provide a personalized turnover experience for bedridden patients. To improve the safety of the turning mattress during automatic turning, we also add a temperature sensor based on the principle of infrared reflection to monitor the status of bedridden patients, which can realize real-time temperature measurement, monitoring of getting out of bed and monitoring of the turning process.

<p>In the foreseeable future, the elderly will make up a significant proportion of New Zealand’s population. The relationship between ageing and disability means the disabled population is expected to increase as the population ages. Physical disabilities especially mobility impairments have adverse impacts on the life experience of elderly people. The outdoor environment contributes to the physical and mental health of ageing people and can provide the opportunities to enhance their quality of life. This thesis explores the concept of a rehabilitative landscape design at Kenepuru Community Hospital. The design aims to improve and maintain mobility during the ageing process, and potentially provide feedback which will motivate the ageing to continue a healthy lifestyle. The thesis concludes that the “disabled” elderly and their community gain a better life experience while reconnecting with a strategically designed outdoor environment.</p>

Abstract The main goal of this research is to find a way to maintain the subjective well-being of caregivers of the disabled elderly. Ensuring proper leisure activity may become the key to solving this problem. Relying on data from the 2017 China Time Use Survey, this study finds that the care activities for the disabled elderly will reduce the caregivers’ subjective well-being through the squeeze of the caregivers’ leisure activities from the point of view of time use, and the caregivers with different individual characteristics have different impacts on the subjective well-being of feeling disabled elderly care activities. Therefore, from the perspective of time utilization, it is believed that social institutions take care of the disabled elderly, caregivers' housework activities, and improve the flexible working system, which have a positive effect on maintaining the caregivers' subjective well-being.

Abstract Background This article concentrates on analyzing the community care for urban disabled elderly women. With the emergence of aging society in China and the empty nest Chinese families, the number of the elderly who can't take care of themselves is increasing. With the miniaturization of family size and the weakening of family pension function, the traditional family pension in China is facing great challenges. On the one hand, a growing number of disabled elderly women are in urgent need of care, they have many difficulties in daily life, including poor health status, losing spouses and living alone, cannot support themselves economically, lack of spiritual life, and mostly relying on their children to take care of them. On the other hand, the family's function of providing for the aged is weakened, and the traditional way of care is impacted by the changes of modern society. Methods Based on a qualitative study in Beijing, this article examines the demand for care from the disabled elder women and the current supply of community care for the disabled elder women. Results After analyzing the demand for care from elder disabled women and current community care, this study puts forward the existing problems and the reasons behind the community care for the disabled elder women. This article discusses that community care system for disabled elderly women in urban areas should focuses on four aspects: life care, medical care, spiritual consolation and emergency assistance. Conclusions The urban disabled elder women living care service system should be constructed. It mainly provides daily life care for the disabled elder women, and the main body of the service is home-based elderly care service centre, community day care centre, and the elderly's family members or some volunteers. A protection mechanism should be improved to support elder disabled women from three aspects: protection system, fund guarantee and services from health and social cafe staff.

BACKGROUND: China has the world’s largest elderly population, as well as the largest population of disabled elderly. Existing literature shows that there have been increased efforts to develop intelligent robots to address the shortage of caregivers for the elderly. However, there has been little research on elders’ acceptance of care from intelligent robots. AIMS: The purpose of this study was to examine the acceptance of intelligent robots among disabled elderly in need of long-term care. METHODS: We used structured questionnaires and interview methods during a social survey. In total, 3060 questionnaires and 50 interviews were collected. RESULTS: An overwhelming majority of the 3060 participants (79.39%) indicated that they would reject robot care. DISCUSSION: Future research should consider the background of the interviewees and the influence of the economy and social development across different regions, in order to distinguish the impact of each type of basic information on the acceptance of intelligent machines by the elderly. CONCLUSIONS: Most elderly adults were reluctant to allow robots to provide services that involved physical contact. Therefore, the development and design of robots should consider elderly individuals’ attitudes toward non-human services, in addition to broadening the scope of activities that intelligent robots could cover, and providing intelligent tools and products that the elderly would be more likely to gradually accept.

Abstract Background As the aging of the population increases, the number and growth rate of disabled elderly people in rural China are significant. However, their special care needs and barriers to accessibility have been neglected in existing research. This paper covers a multi-dimensional investigation into accessibility barriers in care services for elderly people with disabilities in rural China. Methods In-depth interviews with 13 rural disabled elderly people in China took place using qualitative methods. Results Based on a welfare pluralism approach, the results showed that in comparison with urban areas, care services for disabled elderly people in rural areas are more subject to social barriers. This can be seen in the limited state (lack of resources, rigorous qualification of eligibility, uneven distribution, and irregular implementation); the absent market (low levels of consumption, high cost pressures, self-exclusion, and traditional cultural constraints); absent NGOs and volunteers (difficulties in access for NGOs and volunteers outside the area and formation difficulties of local NGOs and volunteers); as well as low-quality care in households and communities (unprofessional care from the spouse, unsustainable care from offspring, and unavailable community-based care). Conclusion A multi-subject support network should be established to remove accessibility barriers to care service provision for elderly people with disabilities in rural areas through active intervention and interaction.
