A new leafhopper species, Anagonalia lapnanensissp. nov., is described from Arunachal Pradesh, India. A morphological variant is also described which, is interpreted as belonging to the same species due to negligible divergence in the COI mtDNA gene. Detailed illustration of males and female are provided.

The pathogenesis, clinic, and treatment of kidney damage in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are considered. It is noted that if at the beginning of the disease signs of kidney damage are present in 25-50% of SLE patients, then later they are detected in almost 60% of adults and 80% of children. Variants of kidney damage in SLE are described. The pathogenesis of SLE is generally considered on the model of lupus nephritis. The morphological classification of lupus nephritis, features of the main nephrological syndromes, and clinical variants (active and inactive) are presented. It is indicated that the treatment strategy depends on the activity of the disease, the clinical and morphological variant of lupus nephritis.

My purpose here is to highlight three long-standing problems in the taxonomy of Adineta vaga (Davis, 1873) and its subspecies: 1. The lack of unique morphological criteria to identify the morphological variant (morphovariant) Davis described; 2. The lack of an evolutionarily meaningful subspecies definition applicable to parthenogenetic bdelloid rotifers; 3. The lack of compliance with the applicable articles of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN; https://tinyurl.com/y8f242an) when subspecies are assigned to A. vaga.

Cancer en cuirasse in a case of primary adenocarcinoma rectum is an exceedingly rare phenomenon which is scarcely seen in isolated case reports only. It is a specific morphological variant of cutaneous metastasis characterised by diffuse induration and oedema of cutis which is studded with carcinomatous lesions. Cutaneous metastases often occur in elderly individuals in their sixth decade or later. Herein we present a case of carcinoma en cuirasse arising in a young female who was operated for adenocarcinoma rectum.

In the first months of 2013, a large group of plants of Centaurea belonging to the section Seridia, initially identified as a morphological variant of C. seridis subsp. sonchifolia, has been found during a naturalistic excursion in the Regional Natural Park of Punta Pizzo—Sant’Andrea Island. Morphological investigations, direct comparisons with species belonging to the same section, both through herbarium’s specimens and in vivo, and punctual bibliographical research indicate that this population belongs to a new species with some similarities with the Euro-Mediterranean C. seridis, C. polyacantha (a species with a distribution comprising the Iberian Peninsula and Morocco), or the North-African C. bimorpha and C. ferox, but is quite different by many characters illustrated in the present work. The new species here described is named C. akroteriensis Gennaio & Q.G. Manni.
