Magnetic properties of harmonically trapped charged ideal spin-1/2 fermions in a uniform magnetic field are studied. It is shown that the magnetism of charged spin-1/2 fermions can be explained by a competition between the diamagnetic and paramagnetic effects, where a variable spin factor is introduced to describe the strength of paramagnetic effect. As the spin factor increases, a crossover from diamagnetic region to paramagnetic region appears. Moreover, the critical values of spin factor are obtained at low-temperature and under weak magnetic field, respectively. Spin-1/2 fermions display distinct magnetic behaviors from spinless case.

It is theoretically suggested that the violation of charge conjugation and parity symmetry (CP-violation) could be enhanced in several compound nuclear reactions. According to the CPT theorem the violation of time-reversal symmetry (T-violation) would be enhanced too. The experimental sensitivity to find a T-violating effect in neutron-induced compound nuclear reactions depends on the value of a spin factor κ(J), which is a parameter specific for each nuclide. It can be determined from the angular dependence of γ-ray emission in (n,γ) reactions induced near a p-wave resonance. In this paper, the measurement result and the analysis status of experiments using the target nucleus 117Sn are reported.

It is shown that each positive map between matrix algebras is the sum of a maximal decomposable map and an atomic map which is both optimal and co-optimal. The result is studied in detail for the projection onto a spin factor.

Thermodynamics of trapped charged ideal spin-1 bosons confined in a magnetic field are investigated within semi-classical approximation and truncated-summation approach. It is shown that the critical temperature increases slightly at the first, and then decreases slowly with increasing external magnetic field. Charged spin-1 Bose gases present a crossover from diamagnetism to paramagnetism as the spin factor increases. Charged spin-1 Bose gases exhibit distinct thermodynamic behaviors from the spinless case.

We study the fermionisation of Seiberg–Witten mapped action (to order θ) of the λϕ4 theory coupled minimally with U(1) gauge field governed by Chern–Simons action. Starting from the corresponding partition function we derive nonperturbatively (in coupling constant) the partition function of the spin-1/2 theory following Polyakov spin factor formalism. We find that the dual interacting fermionic theory is nonlocal. This feature also persists in the limit of vanishing self-coupling. In θ → 0 limit, the commutative result is obtained.
