AbstractThe paper presents a new algorithm of exponential transformation and its randomized modification with branching of a Markov chain trajectory for solving the problem of gamma-ray transport. Based on the example of radiation transfer in water, numerical study of presented algorithms is performed in comparison with standard simulation algorithms. The study of the influence of medium stochasticity on the probability of gamma-quanta passing through a thick layer of the substance is also carried out.

Interventional catheterization can help patients to accurately assess the condition, early diagnosis and intervention. Confirming the location of catheter by ultrasound has the advantages of real-time imaging, non-invasive, radiative, fast and convenient. Due to speckle noise and similar acoustic impedance, ultrasound images are not clear. In this paper an ultrasonic image processing algorithm based on wavelet transform and fuzzy theory is proposed. First, logarithmic transformation of ultrasound images is used to convert multiplicative noise into additive noise. Then the wavelet coefficients of the image are obtained by multiscale wavelet transform. The high frequency wavelet coefficients of the image are denoised by thresholding, and the low-frequency wavelet coefficients of the image are processed by fuzzy enhancement. Finally, the processed image is obtained through wavelet reconstruction and exponential transformation. Experiments show that this proposed method can effectively improve the visual effect of images.

In this paper, we discuss the modeling of the electromagnetic water purification. This model requires a velocity distribution in a study domain. For that purpose, the double potential method for simulating incompressible viscous fluid flows was used. The system of equations was discretized with the help of the finite volume method using an exponential transformation for the vortex calculation. As a result, a software implementation of the developed numerical scheme was obtained. The simulation of the three-dimensional flow was carried out in a study domain. The results were compared with Ansys CFD. The comparison showed a good degree of consistency between the two distributions. Using the obtained velocity field, we simulated the process of water purification using the induction of the electromagnetic field.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women, and early detection can reduce mortality. Architectural distortion (AD) is a feature of clinical manifestations for breast cancer, however, due to its complex structure and low detection accuracy, which cause a high mortality of breast cancer. In order to improve the accuracy of AD detection and reduce the mortality of breast cancer, this paper proposes a new method by combining the non-subsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) with the improved pulse coupled neural network (PCNN). Firstly, the top–bottom hat transformation and the exponential transformation are employed to enhance the image. Secondly, the NSCT is employed to expand the overall contrast of the mammograms and filter out the noise. Finally, the improved PCNN by the maximum inter-class variance threshold selection method is employed to complete the AD detection. This proposed approach is tested on the public and authoritative database—Digital Database for Screening Mammography (DDSM). The specificity of the method is 98.73%, the accuracy is 93.16%, and the F1-score is 79.80%, and the area under curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is 0.93, these results clearly demonstrate that the proposed method is comparable with those methods in recent literatures. This proposed method is simple, furthermore it can achieve high accuracy and help doctors to perform computer-aided detection of AD effectively.
